This laptop has been great. Has an almost identical case to the zephyrus counter-part, just doesn't open up at the bottom for air flow like the zephyrus. The 1060 crushes games, getting around 110fps constant in fortnite and 90 in pubg. The laptop is also easily up-gradable, with just a few screws to remove at the bottom you can easily access the nvme-m.2 slot to upgrade the ssd or the 1tb hdd. It is a single 16gb ram stick but again its extremely easy to upgrade this just a few screws and its pretty much plug and play. Really quiet when not gaming, gaming the fans definitely get louder but not too bad. Really happy with my purchase, the 120hz screen is super nice too.

7I was switching from Alienware 17 and Dell Lattitude 7280. I have to say in terms of build quality, this Asus is not good as these two. Not bad, just not as good as them. I also tested MSI GS65 in store, GS65 build quality is really bad. I like the ROG design, not a gaming screamer, good for my business use. It is heavier than I thought I would be. The SSD is average speed so I would add one more Samsung 970 pro to it. If you want to upgrade SSD or Ram for this laptop, you need to get STAR SHAPE Screwdrivers. The screws on the back cover are not regular screws. GTX1060 is adequate for a portable laptop as I did have desktop gtx1080. I am not looking for serious portable gaming experience. I could get GTX1070 but the heat and energy consumption are my concerns. Other then that, it is a good laptop and I think I would keep it for a while.

I Have my laptop sitting on a cooling pad. I've played NBA 2K19 on it at ultra doesn't dip below 60fps on ultra, temps are 50s-60s for CPU and GPU while playing 2k. Not bad! Fans are not as loud as people are saying they are. Speakers are excellent with good bass. Temps 30-40 for CPU just browsing internet. I'm loving the laptop so far!

This laptop is excellent for gaming at 1080p. The 1060GTX is an absolute powehouse of a graphics card for the 1080p market. I thought about waiting for the 2060gtx laptops to arrive but in my opinion those are geared towards the 1440p market and i just do not see a reason to have a laptop above 1080p if the screen is only 15 inches. The processor is also a power house combined with 16 gigs of ram and you have a monster of a machine for 1080p gaming. I bought a small coffee table to put beside my tv so i can set this guy up on it and just plug it right into my tv for console like gaming with an xbox one controller and it works flawlessly.

I bought the Lenovo y530 before this, but the disk of it was so bad to a degree that I can not even stand it. I then bought this one. This is a perfect product; even the open box experience is best in my life. The laptop has a gorgeous appearance. It is relatively portable and the cooling is alright. It will get overheated, but that situation is kind of rare. the GTX 1060 and I7 8750hq can give me a fairly decent gaming and editing experience. The battery is kind of small, I have to take the power brick with me.

I’ve now had this laptop for a year and a half. It plays most games if not all at high/ultra settings getting 60+ FPS. Since I’ve gotten it if upgraded the memory(RAM) and both the SSD M.2 and the SSHD. 1TB M.2 and 2TB SSHD with 32GB of RAM. This PC already ran pretty smooth now it runs through everything like butter. I also use it for video editing. I use Adobe Premier Pro and sometimes Vegas. It can handle anything I throw at it. I’ve gotten mine used but never had any issues after buying it. Overall this is a great laptop by Asus. Would definitely recommend this!

Is a GREAT beginner laptop! I've had my fun with it and it lasted me a while, so I'm happy with it.
Runs the following games pretty well! (That I've played)
ARK: Survival Evolved
Red Dead Redemption 2
Dead By Daylight
DayZ
Payday 2
Phasmophobia
The Isle
Pros:
Portable
Stain resistant
Hefty and sturdy
Easy to keep clean
Cheap
Lots of storage
Cons:
Fans are loud
Heats up quick
Only ran smoothly plugged in
Short battery life
Other than that, I've had a positive experience with this laptop and would reccomend it to a friend!

I really like this laptop, it runs great and has good flexibility for my purposes. the speakers have surprising depth and bass, even if they do not get as loud as other worse sounding laptop speakers. The most intensive game I have tried to run is divinity original sin: 2; it runs smoothly when I don't minimize the window but will crash if I look something up on the internet or some other window. the laptop is a little heavy but I think that is a small price to pay for its graphical beefiness. also really like the ability to modify the fan speed; always keeps the laptop cool enough even if it can get kind of loud

My mistake was getting a laptop that didn't have the requirements I needed for Game Development and Comp Sci. With the help of the Asus rog gu501gm I can do a whole lot more now with better loading times. Also to play a few games here and there from time to time.

Runs fast as expected. This ASUS ROG will be great after you upgrade the M.2 to a 500 GB drive (supports NVME and SATA M.2). The 500 GB drive will last longer (all SSD type drives last longer the larger they are as writing to SSD drives is a destructive process), costs only about $150, and is easy to install (after removing bottom screws, the back releases by pushing in the tabs visible in either side vent holes). The 128gb M.2 you remove is only worth $30 and can be saved as an emergency back up if you have a future drive failure. Also the RAM is upgradable as only 1 of 2 slots is used. A nice computer.

Purchased this laptop to play games while I travel for work. Was surprised by the quality of the monitor, did not expect to have a 120hz display on a laptop. Runs most games just fine on max (massive world game on medium). Some of the 2018 releases+ have issues on max settings, but for the price to power ratio I can not complain. Also fans are fairy loud, but with the slim form factor there is always a trade off. The noise does not bother me since I play with head phones, just keep that in mind when purchasing. If not for fan loudness would definitely give 5 out of 5.

This is my second ASUS laptop. While I love ASUS, I would like to make it very clear that during my research on gaming laptops, I would have been just as willing to make my purchase from Dell, HP, or Acer. Apart from meeting all the strict specifications of a gaming laptop that I was looking for, what finally sold me on this laptop it's slim and sleek profile and it's ability to be overlooked as a dedicated gamer's laptop. Meaning I can take it to the office or class without looking childish or distracted. It's also dramatically easier to bring around than the other bulky gaming laptops.
I saw several negative reviews regarding the loudness of this laptop, and the brightness of the laptop's display. The laptop is very loud when in the fans are in "overboost" mode, but the laptop keeps very good control of the CPU and GPU temperatures. I have never felt like the laptop has gotten too warm even after hours of heavy gaming. The volume of overboost mode is dismissable if you are wearing even a cheap set of gaming headphones. Frankly, if you have an expectation for a gaming laptop to be powerful, have excellent temperature control, and also remain silent while gaming, then you have no business searching for a gaming laptop. The laptop is completely silent when the fans are in "silent" mode. (wow, crazy right?) I have taken it to class and to quiet areas of the library and have not had a single issue with the volume of the laptop's hardware. Regarding the brightness of the screen, I have no comment. Maybe I'm less picky, maybe I have good eyesight, but I think the screen is great.
COMPLAINT: I do not like the loud ROG sound that the laptop makes when powering up. I fear that someday I will forget to boot up before a meeting or before class and that someday I will scare everyone in the room with that unexpected booting up sound.

This is pc is pretty good for novice gamers.I do get really high fps if i put everything on low and still low pretty good due to the panel.Over i would recommend this pc to anyone especially when on sale. The only bad side is the throttle is had.Once you have it unplugged from the charging cable it's performance can be unbarely at time due to the difference in speed.but can last to about 3(1/2) to 4 hours just watching videos or surfing the web(low brightness).Overall just be aware of the change in performance if unplugged from the power cable.

Great Computer for Industrial Designing

I purchased this computer from the come-back container at Best Buy. The general manager gave me a great discount (45% off) and was told the lap top had been refurbished in house. The laptop looked brand new to me and couldn't find any faults at all.
I purchased this lap top for the video graphic card from NVIDIA. I use Fusion 360 which is an industrial 3D designing program for mechanical engineering. I draw mechanical gears and design products which move heavy parts. Not only can I quickly design them but move the part while it is in an operating status around 360 degrees in 3D mode. I think most computers would bog down but this laptop handles the multi-task(s) easily.

I was looking to replace my 2007 Dell and this Asus showed up. It had nearly everything I wanted: 8Gen+ i7; 16GB RAM; Nvidia dedicated (1060); fast M.2; mechanical 1TB. This is a legit gaming box that can hold its own against more expensive laptops. I dare say this is as fast as my i7/7700k/32GB gaming box. The good: all above. The bad: its heavy; no touch-screen; only 1060 offered; no SD slots; no ethernet port. I would have preferred a 16xx or 20xx video card, but at the price? Overall, great gaming laptop with room.

In all honesty, I really thought that this laptop was going to be semi good, but man, was I totally wrong! So far I have thrown a good amount of shooters at it from my Steam library and it has performed really great! Ive also played some Xbox games on it and it has not disappointed me at all. Would I spend a little more for a better graphics card laptop? Yes, but maybe 5 years from now since this machine is capable of playing today’s games on high settings. Trust me, you will not be disappointed at all with this gaming machine!

I love this computer! Its faster than anything I've used before. There's no lag in any of the game I play. Before I got this I could even play any steam games without lagging all over the place on low graphics mode. Now I can play almost any game with the graphics maxed out and still not experience any lag. Great storage space too. Only wish I could disable Cortana but thats a windows thing. I love the fact that I can change the keyboard colors too. Altogether its pricey but worth it.

My last laptop purchase was 7 years ago, a toshiba satellite with amd A8. I thought it was great.
This laptop is mind blowing. Where I used to have to wait for the computer, this computer is often waiting for me. Super fast.
Only downside is that it was billed as very efficiently cooled and quiet. At first even with the fan overboost on, it redlined with heat during a game. An adjustment to the maximum freq fixed it but still runs warm and not as quiet as I would like.

Gaming Laptop Exceeds Epectations

I could not be more impressed with this Laptop. My experience with this has changed my mind about gaming Laptops. Previously I had a desktop for gaming, but when it came to maneuverability and going on trips, it was such a hassle to pack it up and tote it around. setting aside all the negative comments about gaming laptops, I decided to give it a try. I'm able to plays games such as Arma3, Gta5, and battlefield 1 at max settings pushing 58-65 fps. the onboard ROG gaming center allows you to monitor system loads, heat, and customize a wide variety of preferences and settings based on your needs and is absolutely wonderful. This is a very good system and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

I really like this laptop. It runs great plays games great. It has a nice fit and finish the rgb keyboard is nice. My top complaints would be screen brightness, battery life and bloatware that is installed. I really like the laptop I gave it 4 out of 5 stars due to those problems I just stated. If those were fixed it would be a five. I still would recommend this to anyone. Asus makes great products and I haven’t had a problem with anything I’ve bought from them thus far.
