Great laptop,love it For video editing even better

the best gaming laptop that i have ever owned!!!!!

When I bought this laptop, it ran beautifully at first. But after a few weeks, it begins to thermal throttle, and all the games stutter, get hung up and crash. Why? No air flow what so ever. Logically the story of why this happens went something like this. ASUS made this laptop, the GU501GM. They soon realized that the airflow was horrendous and that the hardware would be damaged by overheating after a few weeks of use. So they redesigned the case and cooling system. They added a nice vent that opens on the bottom, and rebranded it as the GM501GM. Same specs, different chassis and cooling system. But what are they going to do with their inventory of the faulty GU501GM? It will cost too much to retrofit them to the GM501GM. Sell them as a Best Buy Exclusive! Do not buy this laptop. I'm now stuck with it because its past the return policy and Geek Squad will only repair it when the motherboard eventually goes bad. I've sent it for repair twice now. They acknowledge its a design flaw but wont let me exchange it for a different laptop, so that's $1500 down the drain.

Buyer beware!! If you Reset your windows install to get rid of all the vendor bloatware, you will be stuck without being able to alter your RGB keyboard. The Microsoft Store version of ROG Aura Core does not work. After speaking with ASUS reps, the only way to get a working ROG Aura Core app is to send the laptop back to them so they can factory install everything again. Defeating the point of doing the reset for a clean, bloatware free, install of windows. So you're either stuck with all the bloatware, or a keyboard doing rainbow effects.

A decent computer, but after about a year, this laptop turns into a desktop. I have had this computer for a little over a year, and if I unplug it, it dies instantaneously. I feel like it best buy should be responsible for this because I was told that the computer should last from 5-10 years. Until this is fixed, I will hate this computer. Otherwise average. Please help me fix this problem best buy.

The wifi driver keeps going out as well as the usb charger plus. It also constantly crashes when gaming due to overheating.

This is the 2nd GU501 I've had and it's such a terrible laptop! I LOVE Asus products but this laptop is complete garbage. Thermals are very bad and my laptop constantly overheats in games and shuts down. I don't even play demanding games just world of tanks. The laptops speakers are poorly designed and constantly go in and out. Each time I've had this laptop experienced issues only a month into owning. Terrible laptop design by Asus and they should recall this POS!

My first couple days with it was doing great until my audio started bugging out where if i connected my headset to the laptop only one side of my headset would receive the game audio and which i contacted ASUS and they didn't help at all because i still had the same issue. Week after this my screen started to turn black and taking a while to reboot it, which i had contacted them again about it telling me to reset the BIOS which still didn't work and i really don't want to deal with these problems if it cant be fixed which is the reason why i am returning this item

Fan stopped working. Took it to BestBuy to have them work on it and they refused to work on it even though I was willing to pay their Techs to do the work. They said that since it was no longer under warranty I had to take it else where. They wouldn't even look at it and would not recommend a company that could assist.

Rushed out to buy this laptop after my other laptop was damaged. After taking it home, I discovered the D drive was unusable. That storage space is required for me to do my work. Talked with Best Buy, Asus and Microsoft for hours. Microsoft was of the most help and eventually told me to "use my warranty". I will be returning the computer to Best Buy tomorrow.

This laptop has its pros and cons but when when of the cons is that I cant game it becomes a problem. I have gone through THREE of these laptops and I always hit 90+ degrees while playing overwatch. I cant imagine what it would be like if I played assassins creed. Stay away from this laptop.

Dead after one day , shut downed due to overheating and no response ever since not even a charge light

I've bought the laptop from the store back in December worked fine for almost a month after that its a total mess it randomly freezes even when I'm barely using it and won't function till I press the power button did a complete reset and installed a clean windows from the start but the problem still persists can't seem to find any working method online for this I think it's a hardware issue

The laptop didn't even last 6 months because of a motherboard malfunction. It may look good but actually it's an actual piece of garbage. You can build your own PC that costs less than this and it would work better.

This laptop was amazing for a few months, amazing performance until it wasn't. I can play fortnite with 120 fps when I first got the laptop now I get constant FPS drops that fluctuates so bad that I cannot play anything.
