I had never seen this laptop in person before buying it. I recently bought this and a G14 (the silver Ryzen9) and I have to say it......this matte black ASUS pulled off looks quite sleek! As far as style goes, this is pretty much the best you can get - really RAZER level stuff! Keyboard is RGB with a bunch of configurations through the Armoury Crate App (update everything before you go for it!) the ROG logo in the back lights up in red like it should and looks GREAT! The laptop itself is really thin and light, especially when compared with competitors with similar hardware such as DELL's Gx series, Alienware and Acer Predators. The great pairing between i7-9750H and the Optane SSD works flawlessly. Everything happens instantly! *Windows bootup? - CHECK *Office bootup? - CHECK *Junk like Steam, Zoom, Skype? - CHECK! At this price point ($1050~$1400), choosing this laptop over others is a no brainer!

First the pros: Fast boot up and loading. Incredible graphics. Lightweight and thin Now the cons: Power supply weighs more than the laptop ( maybe an exaggeration but it’s close) Fans can be pretty loud. Gaming headphones would definitely help there. The black metal finish shows finger and palm prints. Overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. BBC had it $100 cheaper two weeks after I bought it and priced matched it over the phone. I have ordered an additional 16gb of RAM, just haven’t put it in yet.

Very happy with this purchase. I am kind of using it as a desktop. It always sits hooked up to my 27" gaming monitor so I kind of wish I would have built a desktop. That being said I strictly game on this laptop. I added 16G of ram to get me to the 32g. That helped with framerate. I'm playing Valhalla and getting 60 frames at high settings. If I bump it to ultra and everything maxed out it drops to 30-40 which is expected. The fans are REALLY loud if you set it to max performance mode. Runs Destiny 2 excellent at high settings as well and it looks amazing. Gets very hot so you would never have this thing on your lap for long. TLDR: Will run any game out there at 60FPS and med/high graphic settings. Fans are loud! Would buy again.

This laptop is powerful and aesthetically pleasing ,better that other laptops with a higher price point. Starting off with looks, the rgb is incredible and bright , the chassis is sleek and minimal so you can take it anywhere without being embarrassed, and the keyboard deck prevent fingerprints. You can definitely feel the quality and thought that went into making it. Now into performance this thing crushes games and can even do raytracing, with minecraft running around 40 fps and above. It is quiet and when you game on it it is not that loud and you can barely hear it if you had noise cancelling head phones. The screen really adds the experience with 144hz and let me tell you if feels as smooth as butter. In my opinion it's the best rtx 2060 laptop to buy theirs just to much to be said about it

I just picked one of these up 5/3/2020 from my local Best Buy. PROS: - Great physical build quality; For how thin it is I'm very satisfied with how sturdy it is. - RGB lighting looks amazing and the customization is endless. You will need to download Aura Creator from the Microsoft store to fully customize the lighting. - Audio for this thin of a profile blew me away; Combined with tuning in the included Sonic Studio III, you can get amazing audio through these speakers. - The processor and GPU pair together well; If you win the silicon lottery you can get a great undervolt going for solid performance. CONS: - Thermals; They are awful in my opinion. I've been gaming strictly on laptops for about 10 years now and this is the hottest running unit I've ever owned by far. When gaming the laptop can really heat up on all parts of the unit. Especially under the keys and above the speakers. This is a laptop I don't feel comfortable with gaming without using a cooling pad or pegs to prop up the laptop rear for better intake. In Turbo Mode both the GPU and CPU are clocked so high even when idle, the fans never want to quiet down; Which is something I've never experienced with other ASUS laptops. Usually it'll curve depending on your usage. - The AC power port. This is a weird one but the connecting pin that goes into the laptop itself does not feel very secure at all; It feels like a cheap universal 3rd party cable and is rather flimsy when plugged in. Moreover the port is in such a odd location, making the cable cross directly in front of one of the exhaust ports, which can cause hot air to be mixed in with the intake flow. Overall, I'm satisfied with this laptop and will be keeping it, but will certainly be applying new thermal paste and fine tuning the power on both the CPU and GPU for better thermals.

This is a great gaming laptop for people who are looking to play the most recent games. I've played the new Modern Warfare and Destiny 2 with ease. The build quality and features are really nice and it's very fast. My only downside is that it does get a little hot under load, but if you're okay with the heat, then by all means! I bought this as an open-box and runs as if it was new! If you manage to get this on sale or find an open-box, I would strongly suggest taking advantage because I love it.

I love this laptop. Its fast, screen is crisp, and it has played everything I have thrown at it with no issues at all. My 2 problems with it and the reason I knocked off a star is fan is pretty loud since the machine runs pretty hot when doing anything graphics intensive. I have a laptop cooler underneath. The second thing is the wifi card is soldered onto the MB so I was unable to put in a WIFI 6 card. Overall I do feel I got my monies worth on this machine.

I am very impressed with this laptop so far. The fit and finish is amazing. It runs newer games very smoothly. However, for 1,300 dollars after tax it should include a built in webcam, numpad, and touch-screen capability. Those three things are all missing from this laptop, but were included with the HP Envy I bought in 2014 for about 700 dollars, which this Asus replaced. I paid almost double the price and didn't get these now pretty standard features?

I didn't go to Best buy to purchase this particular laptop, but while leaving the store, I saw one on the open box board for $1183 and went for it. Returned because of a light scuff that I couldn't see. I'm pretty picky on my laptops and there isn't one out there that will check all my boxes, but you can get pretty close for the right price. My personal opinion, I wouldn't have picked this up for $1599 with the 1 stick of 16gig ram (no dual channel setup like this) and no camera. I'm also a take it or leave it on thinness. I'd rather have good temps and noise in a bulkier case then a thin form factor that produces extra heat and noise. At 1183, its a no brainer purchase. 1tb Sdd, not the fastest out there on paper, but you wont care knowing you have space to fill. After using it for a few days, I've undervolted the cpu a tad and the temps and fan noise I'm fine with. This is a solid built machine and my 2nd 16gig stick of ram should arrive tomorrow so I can see the performance boosts. I picked up a stick of: Crucial 16GB Single DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) DR X8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT16G4SFD8266 I'll submit an update after I run thru benchmarks, before and after.

I was lucky enough to nab this bad boy on sale for $1549, but even at it's current $1849 it's a great deal considering any other laptop on the market right now with similar specs costs $2200 and up. I'm no tech pro, but I did a lot of research before making this purchase and so far I have not been disappointed. I read a couple reviews here about hardware issues, the only one I noticed was the sound cutting out randomly, but that issue went away after a couple of days... Perhaps an update took care of it? I've had this laptop for almost 3 weeks and run only one graphically-intense game so far, but it plowed through with flying colors. The fan does crank up pretty loud, but I typically wear headphones anyway. If you don't, you'll have to boost the sound a bit. It still generates a good bit of heat, but it's good to know there's powerful hardware built in to counteract it. Extras: There is NO webcam. This was a bummer for me, but I was excited to find out that it does in fact have a built-in mic, which, according to my two listeners, "sounds just like talking on the phone." The overall sound coming from it is also good and cranks up a lot louder than my last ASUS laptop. The power cord plugs into the middle of the left side, which was an odd adjustment for me, but hasn't caused too much extra maneuvering. I haven't tested the battery life yet. There are 3 USB ports and 1 HDMI port, which is plenty for my needs. Something strange: I've noticed that this laptop doesn't like to stay in sleep mode. I'm not used to shutting down my computer regularly, but it's something I feel I have to do with this one. First of all, the keyboard stays lit, which makes me wonder how much energy it's still using, and secondly, a bump from across the room has been known to wake it back up. In attempt to keep it sleeping, before I ended up shutting it down completely I just started just shutting the screen. Well, one night I'd been lying in bed for about 20 minutes, and I swear it turned on from the other room! I got up and it was still shut, but it was playing a commercial on a Facebook video I had pulled up. It creeped me out so now I just turn it off whenever I'm done using it. The startup is so fast, it's not a huge deal. Overall, this computer is well worth the money I spent. There are quirks that come with any new computer, but the ones here have only minor drawbacks for me. This laptop is powerful, it is beautiful, and it came at an unbeatable price! I will post an update if anything changes my stellar review.

I have been a computer enthusiast since before the dawn of Apple and IBM computers. I've seen it all, from the original 8k of ram units to today's rivals of "mainframe" computers at home, DOS-1, Windows-1, to Linux. The major thing I've seen is computing power vs reduced size! This ROG computer from Asus is very fast, has one of the latest Nvidia High Rez, High speed graphics processors and solid state storage. Gamers will love the better than 120hz screen with 3 milisec access time for no lag gaming. But the power also means programs like Adobe Creative Suite rendering at high speed will be an artists favorite. XBOX games? Oh yeah! Grandson loves it!

Great laptop- extreme gaming , this beast can run anything maxed out. Slight concern with temp going 80c+ on AAA games maxed out. But it’s fine, the fans are LOUD, like.. LOOUDDD! so be warned it’s not a quiet gaming laptop. But it’s slim , easy and great to transport just bring the charger it only lasts maybe 4hrs off charge. Overall I suggest to have a laptop cooler and keep it plugged in when gaming but it does it all.

So first impressions (since I was not able to see it in person because of COD-VID) is I was really suprised to how thin and light this thing is. Its a really nicely done design and I absolutely love it. I bought it on sale for $200 off, and open box for another $90 off or so. I had no issues at all with the open box item. All pieces where there, and it did look bran new (except for the original plastic wrapping). It does get a loud when playing a game, like Gear 5, but it does so with pretty much all settings on max and it stays solid. This is my first expensive gaming laptop purchase and really happy with it so far.

Good: The machine works great for playing games so far. The only time it starts to chug for me is in large battles of ultra unit scale, high graphics Warhammer 2 at around 30fps, so kind of ugly but far from unplayable and still faster than cinema. The build quality is also top notch I don't notice any deck-flex on the keyboard and the resting area below the keyboard is large enough for me to comfortably rest my large hands on the keyboard while playing. Neutral: I didn't care that the laptop didn't have a webcam when I got it but I have missed it since then since the whole work from home thing. Some competing brands may get you a camera for a similar price (See the MSI GS65-stealth). Bad: The wifi card is beyond awful. I thought it broke in the first month of ownership but it turns out that it basically won't pick up my home wifi unless I'm within 3 meters of the router. If you have reliable ethernet then this doesn't matter but the wiring in my room is shoddy and tends to drop of. Boggles the mind that Asus would put a 2060 and an i7 into thin and light machine but then decide to skimp out on a component that's so cheap in comparison to the rest of the device. I can play games but not watch Netflix in bed, bizarre. I wouldn't recommend this particular model unless you get in on a good sale at this point, only because the new Ryzen models in the same (i think) chassis are out now.

So far this beast has been wonderful great quality solid build I do keep a microfiber cloth handy cause I’m ocd about fingerprints but so far plays all the games I throw at it mainly rocket league the division 2 forza 7 and forza horizon and it’s flawless have a ram stick coming to see if it improves at all but honestly really don’t need it as far as fans I can play on performance mode and the fans are no louder then any other gaming laptop and turbo is louder but no huge performance boost

Loving this beast of a laptop so far! Going from a 17inch HP Omen to this little guy has been great. Only had it for 24 hours, but I have been trying out some of my favorite games that I haven't been able to play. Hellblade at top settings in performance mode gets really warm, but is so smooth I can ignore it. Haven't tried turbo mode yet or any games with ray tracing. The discount of $350 really helps sell this machine. Planning to upgrade the RAM so I can take full advantage of its capabilities. Just have to see how this heat thing goes since it appears that is the most common issue in the reviews.

Runs very smooth on all my games I range from shadow of war to doom and even the elder scrolls IV Oblivion. No issues there although to point out some negatives it can get pretty steamy and lose battery rather quickly even through simple task handling also to really experience the great and powerful rtx 2060 you must have the PC plugged in for the full 144hz excitement

Spoiler alert! This laptop gets loud! Sounds like a jet taking off. But I have noise canceling headphones. Just letting you guys know. Anyways, I bought this guy at a discounted price and it hasn’t let me down yet. Unfortunately it’s back to its regular price, but just wait around a bit longer and it’ll drop again. I threw in an extra 16gb 2666 ram I had from my previous laptop. This thing flies. I’ve been stress testing it with my most used apps, VS code, photoshop, lightroom, and premiere pro. All while playing SWTOR in the background. Hopefully I can get 5 years from this guy. Only time will tell. The keyboard itself has way better travel than my previous laptop. I’m coming from a 2015 XPS15. The noise at the start can be turned off from the app ASUS provides, for anyone that’s wondering. I really like the whole black finish, very low key laptop, not into the whole gaming rgb life. But this one is very simple. Apologies for the grammar, it’s 2am and I’m writing a review. Overall very happy with my purchase.

I bout this laptop for college since i needed a powerful machine and this was great for the prince since it comes with a 144hz display, sturdy build quality and very slim for what the power that it has. I haven’t experienced any issues and have been using it for a month now. I like the per-key RGB keyboard which lets you customize every key to any color. Only slight downside is that it doesn’t come with a webcam which isn’t a big deal to me personally. I payed $1245 since it was in the open box-certified excellent condition and I would say it was worth it.

Okay, I am new to gaming so I am no expert. But I did my homework and came to the conclusion this laptop is built for gaming. ITs not perfect, but honestly, I don't think you will find a laptop that has everything you want at a value that is affordable. This model has solid components with a solid processor and graphics card. Yes on the downside it does not have a built-in camera or full-size keyboard. But, for me, this is not a deal-breaker. Like most laptops yes it will run hot when you are gaming but easily resolved by getting a laptop cooling pad. I find it funny people will complain about the noise of the fan when in truth if have you earphones on you shouldn't be hearing the fans. When you are not gaming the fans stay pretty quite. I love the fact that the laptop feels sturdy and thin. The design is sleek. As far as gaming performance some people will be pleased while others will be a little critical. Some reviews will contest that the refresh rate is not up too par. Truthfully, I cant tell a huge difference. But like I said I am new to gaming. The screen is beautiful and you won't be disappointed. The keyboard is also sturdy and colorful. Well, good luck and happy gaming.
