[Employee of bestbuy] I wanted to love it but ASUS missed the mark with a bad product. WiFi 6 was garbage and even with a direct connection to my Nvidia Shield everything buffered like crazy with a fiber connection. Lack of firmware updates ruined this beautiful looking device. PS. I tried everything for 58 days.....

Upgraded from the GT-AX11000 - mostly for better performance in PCVR. I am very much satisfied with the performance of it. With the two 6Ghz bands, I have two different SSIDs created for the two VR headsets we have at my place (Quest Pro and Quest 3). We have 2 gaming PCs connected to the multi gig ethernet ports, and can run them both at the same time with no issues. Both headsets are able to achieve what I'm assuming must be their maximum wifi speeds (about 1300Mbs on the Pro, 1900Mbs on the Quest 3), as I haven't seen any higher numbers yet. The 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands provide connectivity for all the other devices, and I have seen >1000Mbs speed tests on the 5Ghz network, so that's great for my laptops, phones and tablets, and the 2.4Ghz has great range and works great for IoT devices and such. The amount of options available in the config is just great, and is a big part of why I chose this router (along with the awesome multigig LAN port connectivity options). I compared this router to the Netgear wifi 7 router (Rs700, I believe?) and found all the additional QoS and gaming prioritization features very helpful in keeping buffer bloat and overall ping times a bit lower. The WireGuard VPN works great, the Guest network Pro features are very hand, the ability to mesh with other ROG routers helps keep my GT-AX11000 relevant, and guarantees that I'll be sticking with Asus routers for the foreseeable future. Plus, being able to install AsusWRT Merlin on the device gives you even more options. Downsides? Well, the thing is pretty massive, and TBH I find the looks are a bit ridiculous and juvenile. "Do the looks of a router really matter?" you ask? Well, with Wifi 6 having less range, you're going to want to keep it out in the open in the area you want the fastest speeds. The LEDs are kinda neat, but I'm not a fan of the controller they used and the patterns and effects all look obnoxious, so setting for a static color is pretty much the best option (thankfully you can disable them altogether). Also, that little pointless plastic window that lets you view stupid stickers in an empty cavity is just dumb, it would be better to have this be more heatsink (especially because the device runs hot for a router) or at least give the option to remove the clear plastic so that there's less insulation on top of the plastic layer underneath. Not to mention that, over time, dusty and lint will probably work its way under there, just making things look gross (instead of dorky). I definitely preferred the look of the Netgear, but ended up prioritizing the performance and features, so Asus won easily there.

I recently upgraded my home network to the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro, and the difference has been incredible. Right out of the box, setup was straightforward, and once everything was up and running, I immediately noticed faster speeds and a much more stable connection across all of my devices. Streaming, gaming, and working from home all feel smoother now — even when multiple devices are connected at the same time. One of the biggest improvements has been consistency. No more random slowdowns or buffering during peak usage hours. Gaming latency is noticeably better, and downloads complete faster than ever. Coverage has also been great throughout the house, and I appreciate that this router feels built for the future with its multi-gig capabilities and Wi-Fi 7 support. Overall, this upgrade has made everyday internet use more reliable and enjoyable for my entire household. Highly recommend for anyone looking to improve performance and stability.

The ASUS ROG BE98 Pro is hands down the best router I’ve ever purchased. The performance, speed, and stability are on another level compared to anything I’ve used before. Setup was quick and simple, and the interface is extremely user-friendly while still offering tons of advanced customization. Wi-Fi coverage throughout my entire home is incredible — I get strong, consistent signal everywhere with blazing fast speeds. The WiFi 7 performance is insane. Gaming latency is extremely low, downloads are lightning fast, and I can run multiple devices (streaming, gaming, smart home devices, etc.) without any slowdown. The dedicated gaming features and QoS controls make a noticeable difference. Build quality is premium, and the design looks amazing if you like the ROG aesthetic. It feels like a true high-end piece of tech. If you want top-tier performance, future-proof WiFi, and rock-solid reliability, this router is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for gamers, smart homes, and anyone who wants the best network experience possi

The new KING of WiFi 7 routers is here! The BE98 Pro is a blazing-fast router with super easy set up. While you can use the ASUS app, I prefer using a web-based browser to set it up. After a firmware update I recommend doing a factory reset/restore and making very minimal changes from the default settings as this router works great out of the box! The BE98 Pro is massive in size/footprint and has 8 large external antennas and comes at a hefty price tag - you definitely get what you pay for in terms of fast wireless speeds, extreme range and set it and forget it convenience. I have tried multiple WiFi 7 routers (Netgear Nighthawk and TP-Link), the Axus is, by far, the best of the bunch and unlike the other 2 you do not have to pay for subscription services that’s already included with ASUS free of charge. Future proof your networking with the best consumer router on the market today! Highly recommended.

Minus 1 star for the cost. This thing is a beast in size. Other than that very happy with the router. Easy to set up, the interface is a little cluttered but got it set up with all my preferences pretty fast. Best of all it reaches from my 1st floor up to my 3rd floor townhouse. The previous Wifi7 (T-P Link) router I tried couldn't do that with even the 2.4GHz radio. The external antennas definitely help with maximizing coverage. Very satisfied. RGB lighting...I turned it off since it sits above eye level but others may find that cool. My PC has 2.5GbE and my NAS has 10GbE so having 10GbE ports were a must. iPhone 14pro can hit 1.2Gbps Tx and Rx. Only have 1Gbps internet service so the WiFi speed is really for internal file transfers.

This is a strong Wi Fi 7 router on its own. In a clean setup it delivered fast and steady speeds, often around 1200 Mbps at close and mid range, and the interface made setup simple. Wired ports handled backhaul and desktop connections without fuss, and roaming between rooms felt smooth when the signal was coming from this unit alone. Build quality is solid, the radios feel capable, and the overall experience suggests it can anchor a modern network with ease. Where it stumbled for me was mixing it with older Zen Pro Wi Fi 6E gear in a mesh. The results were inconsistent, with range pockets where the signal dipped and speeds that would drop even though peak throughput looked great. After a few tries I concluded it did not improve my network because the mixed generation mesh was the bottleneck, so it went back. If you plan to run this as a solo router or only pair it with matching generation nodes, I would buy it again without hesitation. For a blended mesh with older routers, I would skip it and keep the system consistent. For what it offers in raw speed, stability, and features, the price for the quality is good.

I have a 2600 sqft home and game often while streaming. This router covers all my devices with no lag. Its very fast and the selection of bandwidths is nice when selecting speeds for various devices. It runs a little warm but so far thats the only thing slightly negative i can say.

This thing is an absolute beast! I replaced my old ASUS router that had gone end of life with this one and saw my network speeds skyrocket. It's rock solid, stable, and future-proof with Wifi 7. Initial setup was easy, but it is also packed full of advanced options and features (security, VLANs, VPN, traffic analytics, and mesh networking) for those who know what they're doing and want more control over their networks. For example, I was able to set this up as the core router of a mesh network with two ASUS ROG GT6s to ensure blazing fast connectivity through all 3 floors of my home.

I was looking for a solid modern day router that could easily handle the demand for lots of devices in the home. These days, everyone has so many devices in a single household when you considering that there are not only computers, but also phones, smart TVs tablets, printers, Chromecast, Rokus, Firesticks, Wi-Fi cameras, camera doorbells, smart thermostats, Kindles, etc. All the IoT devices eventually really adds up. This router not only offers all three types of Wi-Fi signals of 2.4ghz, 5ghz, and 6ghz, but it also allows setting up multiple VLANS to help segregate and protect your network. These days, a setup of at least 3 VLANS is a minimum: an internal private network for the main computers and phones, a separate IoT network for all the IoT devices that are weaker in security, and a guest network for when people come over and you don't wanna expose your main network and have a separate password. This router handles all of that and is not too difficult to set up. If you want to fine tune all the settings, you will have to read up a little bit about all the different settings, but its worth it. Performance handles 50 devices easily across all the different Wi-Fi bands and is completely solid. 6Ghz signal is currently extremely weak in range, and won't go much further than 2 rooms in range. Although, supposedly Asus will eventually allow AFC options to operate at normal power, but its still not enabled at the moment. I wouldn't hold my breath for that though. All in all, while it is a bit pricey, it is definitely a solid option if you can have it in a fairly centralized location in the house. Just as a hint, keep 6Ghz signals at just 160mhz width if you wanna boost the range a bit, because 320 won't work outside the same room.

This is a decent Wifi 7 router. Note that while it claims to support creating VLANs, the VLAN support doesn't work if you put a switch downstream of it. It doesn't support marking its ports as tagged/untagged/excluded, and no matter what I tried it was always creating a network loop. I put a dedicated router in, connected the VLAN switches to that, set this device to AP mode instead, and had no trouble getting that setup working. As long as you aren't doing anything involving VLANs, this device works quite well.

Upon visiting a Best Buy store I was immediately greeted by a very knowledgeable sales associate. While I had researched this router extensively, the associate added to my research solidifying the decision to purchase. The router exceeded expectations in ease of setup, range, speed and options available to customize my network. The phone app is an added bonus. I would recommend this router.

I had a nice Wi-Fi mesh setup, but the second ASUS router was not performing at the same level as the AX-11000, so it was time for an upgrade. I installed the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro, and the setup was fast and easy. My office speeds improved from about 650 Mbps down / 450 Mbps up to 950 Mbps down / 875 Mbps up. Just an FYI: complete the GT-BE98 Pro setup first. Let it do its thing, set it as the primary router, and allow it to update the firmware, etc. Second, if you are going to use another ASUS router for AiMesh, make sure that router’s firmware is also updated. After that, perform a factory reset on the secondary router, then add it to the GT-BE98 Pro AiMesh system. Overall, it took about 30 minutes from start to finish. Lastly, make sure you secure your system as much as possible. If you do not know what a setting does, do not just leave it turned on or off without understanding it. Do your research and make sure each setting fits the type of applications and devices you are actually using.
