So far so good--definitely the best computer I've ever bought (next up is my RTX3080 desktop), and everything runs very nicely, from Starfield to Krita. I have had trouble getting my VR headset working with it, but I think that is an issue with the headset, not the computer, based on what I find online. I would like to eventually upgrade the RAM to 32GB or higher and the SSD to 2TB or higher, but for now I'm just enjoying how smoothly everything is working. A little flashy for work, but I'll live.

Great machine for the price. It does have the backlight bleed which is not bad unless the screen is completely black. You can also reduce the back lighting to a normal setting. There is a small electrical whine but I do not hear it because the fans are louder than the whine. The third case fan really helps keep the heat away from the keyboard.

The laptop side of the power supply cable is far too short. If you have the cable coming from the right side of where you are sitting, there just isn't enough length to not have constant pressure on the port and across your legs. It is uncomfortable and terrible for the port itself. The cable is roughly 3.5 feet long from the brick to the laptop. Several keyboard keys are on stupid misaligned locations. The function keys are supposed to be directly above the numbers. Meaning: F1 should be above 1, but no F1 is above 2 which means you need to learn a whole new modified position. The arrow keys are placed by a blind monkey. For a gaming laptop I expected much better quality than what I received. Adding a m.2 drive or upgrading RAM is pretty straight forward. I just hope you have one of those plastic clip release tools. This laptop could have had 5 stars if it wasn't designed by a blind monkey on methamphetamines.

Pretty good laptop. Pros: Temps are pretty great. Screen looks great. Games run with no frame drops on high/ultra settings at native resolution. USB C charging port also does fast charging to some devices. Bluetooth and wifi have worked flawlessly. Cons: Only supports 100 watt USB C charging and the 330 watt DC power brick is huge. I have to toggle Optimus on/off as it will fail to switch to the 4080 sometimes. I had the coil whine issue for a bit in one game, but it either went away or I don't notice it anymore.

I recently purchased this laptop and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The laptop boasts a sleek design with a stunning display that brings games to life in vivid detail. The laptop is powered by a high-performance processor and graphics card, allowing for smooth gameplay even in demanding titles. I've been able to run the latest games at high settings without any lag or stuttering. One of the standout features of this laptop is its cooling system. Despite the powerful hardware, the laptop remains surprisingly cool even during extended gaming sessions. This is thanks to the advanced cooling technology, which keeps the internal components at optimal temperatures. The keyboard is comfortable to use, with customizable RGB lighting that adds a nice touch. The laptop also has a decent selection of ports, including USB, HDMI, and Ethernet, making it easy to connect to peripherals and external displays. Overall, is a fantastic gaming laptop that offers powerful performance in a portable package. Whether you're a casual gamer or a serious enthusiast, this laptop delivers excellent value for the price. Highly recommended!

Frame rate power house with massive display

This 18" 4K laptop is lit. The display is massive and the power crushes frame rates in graphic intense games. Think over 100 FPS in Cyberpunk. With the new pathway raytracing it will do 60 FPS and look crispy doing so. It's not meant to be battery powered this is a desktop replacement. The fan does get loud on turbo mode. One of the 3 modes to choose from. The less stressful games cruise easily on silent mode. If you game with headphones which is great the fans are quite. You can still play even with turbo mode on because the speakers get loud. The fans breathe out the sides and intake at the bottom. There are feet to raise it up for airflow. Performance is priority with this unit and looks are great too. The RBG lighting around the base and on the keys can be extreme or subdued depending on programming. It can replicate the colors on the screen so it expands the visual experience of games or videos stretching the experience beyond the screen and laptop itself. Weight isn't to much of an issue as this unit weighs 5 pounds without the power supply. The power brick is 330 watts so it's big and runs warm so keep it off the bed and on a hard surface to allow for cooling. You will need a properly sized carry case too because the 17.3 cases won't work unless they are oversized. Other units comparable to this one weigh almost double at 8 or 9 pounds then add the power brick you're looking at 11 pounds and you'll hate lugging that sled around even in a backpack trust me. So huge bright display that seems massive when sitting at a desk. relatively light weight for such a large powerful unit. High powered CPU and graphics card to crush frames in any game out right now. Awesome RGB led adaptive lighting that emulated the screen to expand the experience.

Backlight bleed is more on this model than most others I’ve owned in the past. Seeing other reviews on here mine isn’t nearly as bad and considering the price point it’s worth keeping although some darker scenes can be annoying. Asus needs to update their bios to include 5600 ram XMP profiles. This processor is under powered without it. They have already given us undervolting but they need to keep going. I have upgraded the ram to fury 5600 but it gets downclocksd to 4800 speeds currently. Let’s get some XMP profiles going Asus! This is my first Asus laptop… I’ve owned most other brands. All have pros and cons. Price wise if you get a decent panel it’s worth keeping for sure. Let’s hope it can last me 2 or so years. Display is not able to playback HDR video but it is bright and colours are good. I put 4 stars above… but in reality I would probably give it 3.75/5.

Love it so far. People talk about the screen bleeding in dark scenes but so far i dont see it. Its fast and very cool. I am very pleased with the purchase and would definately recommend to anyone. Display is great, its fast, rtc 4080 renders my 3d scenes fast and battery life seems to be great unless it uses the rtx graphics then it will obviously use more battery life quicker but normal browsing etc its great so far but haven't used it alot yet but will be.

2023’s Budget Friendly Mobile Gaming Beast

First of all, this machine is an absolute beast. I became hesitant after seeing so many mixed reviews with others experiencing the unbearable coil whine while researching this product. After getting hands on, I had a Hallelujah moment because thankfully I am not experiencing the coil whine that others have experienced. Upgrading from the Alienware M15 R2 with the RTX 2080, my jaw hit the floor with how much of a massive performance upgrade this 4080 is. Crazy to believe how only a couple years difference has made such an increase in performance. The only downside I have seen thus far has been the backlight bleed on the screen in dark scenes. It is subtle, but yes it is noticeable in darker scenes or when there is darkness around the screen edge like some of the photos other reviewers have posted. During normal gameplay it is nonexistent to the naked eye. Besides the backlight bleed in dark scenes for the price, quality and specs, you won’t find a better deal at the moment. In my personal opinion, this laptop will easily be one of the top gaming laptops of 2023 and am satisfied with the purchase.

I’m not sure if I’m the only one having this problem or not. So please let me know how your laptop is. Just received it today. When I’m in game mode, there’s a static electricity sound. Very annoying. And it stops when I close the game. Everything else is good.

The graphics on this laptop are insane, it does not get too hot and runs everything at ultra ray tracing settings. There are minor hiccups with its software such as hot keys not working then a bios update to correct it only to have the same issue a couple weeks later. I love the laptop besides that.

This computer has yet to lose to any game I have thrown at it. Really the end all be all of gaming laptops at this price, with a processing system that makes every game play top notch. A little problem with memory allocation, but it has the slots for extra memory, so its easily upgradeable if thats a problem you face.
