Powerful Laptop at a reasonable price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this laptop over the next tier up because its $1400 cheaper but with minor differences. A 4080 instead of a 4090, 16gb ram instead of 32gb and a 1tb ssd instead of a 2tb ssd. Not worth an additional $1400 imo. I feel this is the one to get and i have no regrets.

Meh
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The backlight bleed is horrible, for such a well spec'd machine you would think they could bin better screens. Also i9/4080 with 16GB of ram? Come on Asus - for the price this should come with 32GB.

rog 18" 4080
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great laptop if gaming is your thing. However, thanks to its versatility, you can use it for software development and editing as well. One downside might be its size, as it doesn't allow for easy portability, but it compensates with its power and hardware capacity.

JUST BUY IT!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute beast of a laptop, have never owned a gaming laptop until this one. Was mainly looking for a good work laptop that I could use with a 3 monitor set up, which it does the job beautifully but it quickly ended up replacing both my Xbox Series X & PS5 for gaming, I seriously love this thing!

Amazing gaming laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus ROG Strix 18 G814 is a workhorse of a gaming laptop. It is bigger than most gaming laptops, and it weighs more than many gaming laptops but it performs so well that it is worth buying a new carry bag that will fit this laptop. Out of the box, you immediately notice the size and weight but once it is opened up it is surprisingly unassuming with a matte gray interior and keyboard. There is a darker gray 'ROG' emblem that crosses diagonally across the keyboard and there is per key RGB that can be controlled via ROG software, but other than those touches it doesn't have any flashy cosmetic touches. The keyboard feels great, the touchbad is roomy and allows clicking, and the audio is average but sounds good with headphones. The display looks really good with a strong look in the anti-glare screen. There is some backlight bleeding along the edges, but it isn't very noticeable. The webcam is 720p which I found to be a little disappointing given the high quality of the rest of the G814. But 720p is fairly common for webcams still. After letting Windows 11 update, adjusting the RGB, and letting the GPU update, I started playing some games. I was blown away by how nice everything looks on the big 18” screen. I was worried that a screen that big might show some refresh slowness compared to a smaller screen, but I was completely wrong. The 240Hz refresh rate makes the graphics pop compared to other gaming laptops. I played some common graphic-intensive games that are popular right now, and the G814 had no hesitation. The fans weren't even that noticeable because I don't think it struggled at all. It was getting between 110 and 120 frames per second on all of those games. I don't run CAD or design software that may need more RAM but I could see wanting to upgrade to the max 32GB if you have intensive needs. Otherwise, this is the most flawless experience with a gaming laptop I've ever had. Also, the battery is impressive. I got 4.5 hours without needing to charge which is amazing for a gaming laptop. It does everything well, and I can even recommend it for a professional setting because with the RGB turned down it has all the outward appearances of a big work laptop. But there is no doubt it does gaming well, and I would recommend it for any avid laptop gamer. Impressive little work horse of a laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid gaming laptop, beautiful display and very fast. Will meet most gaming needs at 1440p resolution. Asus never disappoints and the price is not too bad for what you getting either.

Pretty much all you need
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is #1 in its category #2 to the asus scar 4090 variant. This one being 2499 vs the 3899 price for the "better" model makes this g18 the pick for anyone wanting a desk top performance type laptop. Well worth every penny plus a great price.

18” 16:10 screen with 4080 is awesome
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly. a great laptop. The 4080 runs great and not too hot. The 16:10 18” screen is a lot of real estate and a real treat. There is some backlight bleed, but not noticeable during use. Just a bit expensive right now. Might be a better deal after the price drops a bit.

Great Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been pretty good for my video editing and gaming needs so I’d recommend I upgraded the ram 96b and the internal ssd to 8tb in raid 0 and it flys no complaints.

This thing is a BEAST
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I felt it was lacking was 32Gb of RAM. I just bought a couple sticks and installed them myself, so problem solved! I searched quite a bit and couldn't find a unit with an i9 and 4080 anywhere near this price! I highly recommend.

Very good but needs Ram Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer runs good out of the box but if you want a consistsnt frame rate for more demanding games you’ll wanna upgrade the RAM to 32 or even 64 GB.
