dont think the 18 inch screen is required, but it is nice and clear. bloatware with everything newvtheses days, but modular memory just be sure to check the speeds and if the motherboard can remain stable with what you're going to use. gpu is fine, always hindered by laptop style, vs desktop.. high fan speeds depending on what you're doing. seems to be good battery life so far

This laptop is very well built. I am happy to find all i was hoping for. Here are the things that are not listed, but are very important. It has 2 SO-DIMM slots for ram. It will run up to 5600mhz DDR5. I upgraded it with some GSkill to 32GB. It also has 2 - Gen 4 x4 M.2 slots for HDD’s. Both of these can be raided for redundancy, or speed if you actual need more than the speed than Gen 4 offers. The cooling is incredible for a laptop of any kind. It is loud when it is running hard, but it is expected. It doesnt have a wining sound that many laptops have from the fans. It have strong, well built fans. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone with the funds.

I will say that this machine rocks so hard and is very fast! I am very happy that the sales rep also recommended this laptop as well, and he was super awesome and helpful. I honestly think that I made the best decision because this is a Christmas present and a birthday present for me. The specs are as follows: the CPU is the Intel Core i9-13980HX CPU also rocking an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU. I would like to say thank you again for the rep's help in recommending this beast of a laptop to me and was even nice enough to give me a protection plan to along with it!

So far, so good. This machine TEARS through games at ultra settings. I picked this up to play Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra settings with the new Path Tracing technology from NVIDIA and let me tell you, it does not disappoint. I am blown away by the performance of the machine. As with any gaming laptop, expect loud constantly running fans and a somewhat lackluster screen. Still, if you know what you're going into with a laptop and you're looking for a no-compromise machine to power your games, look no further. This is the best machine for the price that you can currently buy.

Fantastic computer. The large screen is great not just for watching movies, but allows the best use of its CPU and GPU for the graphics programs I regularly use such that I don't need a second monitor. If I have any complaint, it's only that the cable is a smidge too easy to disconnect from the power brick (which makes it less ideal for working from the hotel room bed when I travel for work). It's hard to call that a real complaint, though.
For those curious, the RAM can be upgraded to 64GB, which will really make this thing a mobile workhorse (or gaming horse, depending on your preferences).

This is my first gaming laptop I have purchased. I must say it does everything I want. The computer runs great and smooth with everything I throw at it. I know a lot of reviews on here talked about the screen, which made me scared of purchasing it due to the price, but I have had no issues with it. The only thing that bothers me the most is the greasy marks it leaves behind with your hands. But this is something I can fix once a week by cleaning it and its good as new!

I've owned this laptop for a month now and have not experienced the problems that were mentioned in the past. The screen works very well with terrific graphics and high frame rates. I have not seen any screen bleed when the screen is black. I agree with other posters that for the price Asus should have sold this machine with 32 gigs of RAM installed in it (Reason for 4 stars). Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great Gaming Laptop.
Love that its steel and has a nice large screen. Has been used constantly since I bought it back in Aug,2023 and its still purring liking a kitten. Never had any issues with it. Battery life is still solid. My favorite thing is that this Laptop competes toe to toe with my friends built $3k computer.

This computer is amazing! The only recommendation I have is to buy more RAM. I added more storage and upgraded to 32GB of RAM and nothing stumps this beast. Every game I've played so far, Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, and Ground Branch are just a few, defaults to the max settings and doesn't even phase this machine. It does put out quite a bit of heat when gaming, so make sure you have adequate airflow.

The Asus G18 Strix is a formidable gaming laptop that pairs a magnificent 240fps screen with the capable RTX 4080 graphics card, delivering a seamless gaming experience of over 60fps across the board in resolutions above FHD. However, it's important to have realistic expectations when comparing it to its desktop counterpart. The laptop version of the RTX 4080 has 12 GB of VRAM, unlike the desktop variant which boasts 16 GBs, resulting in a slight performance discrepancy on graphics setups that make use of more VRAM. Despite this, the G18 Strix impresses with its visual performance and the sheer size of its beautiful 18-inch screen, which offers an unparalleled level of immersion. The quality and scale of the display make every gaming session a deep dive into virtual worlds, setting a high standard for what gaming laptops can achieve. For those seeking a top-tier gaming experience without the constraints of a desktop, the Asus G18 Strix comes highly recommended, standing out as a remarkable blend of power and immersive visual fidelity.

I really want to give this laptop 5 stars but it has a few short comings. I do not have it as bad as others I’ve seen but the back light bleed is bad on this, it affects me a little bit, I don’t play games with dark scenes or watch movies on it but I do art work and photography editing on here with the gaming I do. I can see the back light bleed in my darker artwork and photos which is a bother. I wish that was better, even though the price is awesome on this it’s still a hefty price to not have a decent monitor with no back light bleed. I do not have coil whine like I’ve seen others state but the fan does ramp up loud, but I use a headset and it doesn’t bother me much unless I’m talking to friends online. The biggest gripe I have is not being able to upgrade above 4800mhz ram. Every other laptop with these specs all have faster ram and I don’t understand why this one can not use faster ram.

So for awhile I been reading every review to price to specs to new laptops. And after many sleepless nights I went with this one. I was a little worried about the “coil noise” people spoke about. But I don’t hear it at all. I think this is the best laptop I’ve ever owned. It’s fast. It’s smooth greatly built.. for $2499 can’t really go wrong. I hope this honest review helps you fellow people who nonestop watch the website for in stocks specs and other reviews..

The ROG Strix 18" is a beast of laptop. Feeling very well constructed yet not overly heavy / bulky, the performance this laptop delivers is fantastic for gaming, media or AEC workloads. The display is fantastic and very clear / sharp. Battery life seems on target for such a powerful configuration.

Nicest laptop ive ever owned. Build quality is really good, the backlight bleed is negligible and its easy enough to get rid of but certainly not something that affects games. Its an absolute powerhouse, excellent performance in every game on ultra even with the 1440p monitor. The only negative i can think of is the low amount of RAM. 16gb? In 2023? Come on ASUS...

Ok. This should be called a “portable gaming desktop” not so much a laptop.
To me, a laptop implies being able to run for a usable about of time on battery. This device, not so much. Even just running windows apps and no gaming, the battery drains really REALLY fast compared to a standard “laptop”.
As a “portable gaming desktop” this thing is a beast, as long as you’re running on ac. RTX games look and play great. Way better than my 3080.
It really just depends what you are primarily going to use this for and HOW, ac or battery.

Let's get the negative out of the way, battery life. With that being said, it's a gaming laptop. I've owned 4 over the years, MSI, Dell, ACER, and they all have terrible battery life. That just comes with the territory. Now onto the positives... this thing is a beast. I trade and I game and this unit goes above and beyond. I've also noticed even though this is the largest laptop I've owned, it's the quietest under heavy load. The other laptops sounded like a plane was about to take off and the laptops were going to fly right out of my hands. Not this one. The display is surprisingly bright, the keyboard seems natural, and the laptop always runs cool. If you're comparing other laptops in this price range, just the cooling system itself is enough to choose this laptop over others. Most laptop speakers suffer heavily, but since this thing is so quiet, you'll have no problem popping on a movie and be able to listen without turning the subtitles on like a Japanese anime. If you can score this deal on sale like I did, don't hesitate. It's a quality product and you won't be upset.
