Customers are saying

Customers regard the ROG Strix 18" QHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop as a high-performance machine, particularly praising its powerful processing capabilities, stunning visuals, and smooth refresh rate. The large screen size is also a major plus for many, though some users note the significant weight and relatively short battery life as drawbacks. Positive feedback frequently highlights the impressive frame rates achieved in various games. However, the substantial size and weight may be a consideration for those who frequently transport their laptop.

Coming from a Razer 17" 240Hz 1440p RTX 3080Ti Intel i7, I can easily say my Asus ROG 18" QHD 240Hz Intel i9 RTX 4080 is hands down of much better "laptop" gaming experience. Hardware for hardware, Razer 2022 RTX 3080Ti can perform neck and neck with the RTX 4080 is most categories. Both GPU can easily run all AAA games on max setting without issue. It's the Asus build quality, Asus ROG armory crate, Asus BIOS, Asus power/cooling/airflow design, and monitoring suite of integrated apps make the Asus ROG STRIX an outperformer in comparison to the almost doubled over priced Razer RTX lineup. Razer thermals and cooling were a non-stop problem. Asus ROG STRIX absolutely killed it with the thermals & airflow on this device. Have no issues at all with the device. Pros: ------- > 18" 240Hz screen for desktop like replacement gaming > Solid build quality (frame, screen hinges, everything just feels sturdy and built with intent) > Thermals - Cooling & airflow are superior from other manufacturers > Excellent Keyboard - Keystrokes and feedback feel like a traditional external keyboard, macros are sensible and full number pad are always a plus > 2.5 Gbps ethernet NIC along with CPU and fast SSD, easily hit real-time Steam downloads peaking at 870 - 900Mbps so problem. > Asus ROG integrated apps (e.g ROG Armory) are much more refined, logical only enhance the experience on top of providing 1000s of customization options > RTX 4080 - No question about it; can run AAA game you through at it on max settings will be able to for the foreseeable 5 years Cons: -------- > Heavy laptop given size and dimensions (comes w/ the territory) > No microSD port > Power cable not extremely long so ensure close to an outlet/cable strip when gaming > Battery life (again...comes with the territory)

It is the best Laptop I’ve had. 18inch screen and 14 generation I9 processor, 4080 . 2 TB storage. The only shortage is the battery only can work about 1 hour without charging. It is normally for gaming laptops.

    Awesome Mouse

I’ve purchased multiple “high end” gaming mouse over the years for my ROG Laptops (Zephyrus, Strix, custom). I primarily play a few MMO’s with friends and PC games ranging from FPS to RPG to Strategy. I’ve almost always picked a Razor before so I went out on a limb to try something new and wanted to see how it would be paired with my Strix. I love this mouth, the extra button locations are in the perfect spot for me. It’s very responsive even when it’s wireless. It is a tad heavier than I expected but after a cpl hours didn’t even notice it I would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting a high end gaming mouse. If you have really small hands or don’t like a heavy mouse, I’d check it out in store first.

    Powerful Beast Gaming Laptop

For a number of years, I was running an MSI as my gaming laptop and I was very satisfied with that brand. While I have used ASUS components and regular laptops in the past, this was my first venture with an ASUS Gaming Laptop. This machine is awesome! It is huge, heavy, but really powerful. I have only had this a couple of weeks but so far whatever I have thrown at it has run perfectly. A few things to consider: 1. The screen is a matte finish which I love...no glare and the colors and well done. 2. The keyboard is great for gaming, but maybe not the best for typing. The numeric key pad is a bit small, but very usable. I never use the trackpad (mouse only for me) but is serves its purpose. 3. I don't really worry about battery life and this machine will only be plugged in when running. When not plugged in I am sure it won't last long, but again, I will it plugged in 95% of the time. 4. Build quality...well it is plastic, but that is fine with me. 5. Fans and Heat:. Yes, this machine has fans that will get a bit loud when gaming and parts of the bottom will get hot. But again...this is a loaded gaming laptop so heat and fans are par for the course. I did purchase a larger cooling pad and it does help a bit. 6. The 4080, I9 14th gen, and vast storage further prove this laptop has crazy power. 7. Speaker sound is okay and this par for the course. I used external speakers (Pebbles) or a headphone (Hyper X) and they sound perfect. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and looking forward more gaming!

Still new, but it is honestly for price and performance, I couldn’t be happier with a laptop PC. I’m not a gamer, but as a designer, the softwares I use are very demanding and so far this machine has been very capable generating 3D models and renderings.

Pretty good overall, great overall speed and specs. I have noticed that on more resource heavy games there can be significant slow-downs with the gpu. I think this may be related to the included Asus Armory Crate software that supposedly boosts performance but I have found a lot of folks complain that it ends up bogging down your system. Definitely worth the purchase though.

I don’t use my computer to play games. I use it for work. I use it for work. I use SCADA. The display has helped a great deal. The lighted keyboard is also very helpful because I have to see my keys and I am sometimes in very poor lighting. I have yet to find anything I don’t like about it.

I couldn't find another manufacturer with this hardware configuration at this range. Asus delivered a solid device at a great price point! Apart from the obviously economic body build quality, only caveat is that the battery is not reliable and drains extremely quickly, but I suppose that's to be expected, considering the power hungry cpu and gpu :) Still, I'm loving it! This laptop absolutely maxes out every game I've thrown at it so far! If you're considering a powerful gaming laptop with high specs and slightly less portability, I'd recommend this one!

This Asus laptop does everything my wife needs it to do in her structural engineering design job. It is a very good laptop that runs AutoCad and other engineering software very well. This laptop is built well and we are always happy with Asus laptops! This is our third Asus laptop used for our home.

Laptop is great! Quality is awsome. Only issue I have (and this mainly happens when it’s not plugged in) is it tends to crash ALOT. Gets frustrating at times. ESP when I’m doing work and all of a sudden it turns off. Battery obviously will last you maybe 1-2hrs on performance. Otherwise it can handle anything you throw onto it it!

Overall its decent took some time to get it setup and get the temps under control. It still runs hot overall but i havent had any major issues yet. I'm worried about the longevity of the liquid metal and feel it will haven to be replaced more often then the a normal thermal paste options. I also recommend getting a cooling pad setup to help woth the temps

I am throughly amazed by this laptop. It is lightweight when compared to my previous Alienware that I used prior to purchase. I am also impressed with the sharpness of the display. Performance wise, it feels like it can handle games very well. I have only had it for two weeks, but it is hands down one of the best laptop purchases I have ever made! I am really thrilled and would recommend this laptop to friends and family.

A little bigger than I would have liked, but you've got to keep those hard working CPU and GPUs cool... Quieter than I expected, and FAST... minimal bloatware too. The screen is awesome. I purchased this for photo editing (I do a lot) but will be playing the odd game or two too. The only down-side is no built-in SD card reader, and the webcam is pretty basic (and not Windows Hello compatible).

Most of my workload is on Photoshop or Illustrator. I also work with AI and was looking for at least an RTX 4080. My desktop setup is an i9 11900k with the 3090 vision. The mobo is also a vision motherboard. All the pieces are from Giga. The laptop outperforms my current desktop. So now I am also looking to upgrade the PC, I also game in my free time. Mostly COD and Starfield or the DRL. I am getting more frames on the laptop compared to the desktop. My monitor for the desktop is an Alienware 27" 240hz ips panel. I know 50 series is around the corner, but I found this at under $1800 in excellent condition so I jumped. If you are waiting to go to the 40 or 50 series, its probably worth it. I think that ddr5 is just much faster than ddr4 for workloads. Gaming probably around 20% better than ddr4. Workloads is up 40% for me. Battery life is decent when doing work (4-5 hours). Everyone knows its plugged in for gaming. I would say that this was very worth the price. I also like that this is an 18", coming from 16, I didnt think it would make a big difference, but it does.
