Dream computer disappointment

I was in love with this computer, it works almost 100% perfect except the fact that it had a little issue, as soon as I was done playing it would flicker when it went back to window from the game, other than that it was or is a keeper if you don’t get any issues, updated BIOS, drivers, computer, everything in my power hoping it was software related but from all research done on it, the issue seems to be GPU related, ASUS does not have a fix for it, I’ve seen similar issues before on different brands and I opted to returned it for that reason, if you get one without that issue keep it! Great computer otherwise. Again I would recommend it only if the one purchases does not show any issues, hence the 3 stars.

We certainly understand your concern regarding the flickering screen. To resolve the flickering screen issue, please make sure the chipset driver was up to date and WINDOWS update are installed. Also, please try to connect the laptop to another known good power source or AC outlet and away from electronic or electrical devices that maybe generating excessive electrical or RF noise. Uncleaned power source or faulty electrical or electronic device that is generating excessive electrical noise can disturb static-sensitive devices or components in the laptop that may cause the screen to flicker.

My gamer friends recommended ASUS. With that in mind, I carefully searched for a mid-price gaming laptop that would suit my needs.
This ASUS ROG Strix G17 runs cooler than any of the other laptops I tried. Armoury Crate is super helpful. I run in Turbo mode when I'm playing and Silent mode when I'm working.
One tip I have for someone who wants to keep the laptop from going to sleep is to check the Windows Power & Sleep settings. It seemed to change to a different power settings when I switched between Silent and Turbo modes. At first I thought there was a problem with the laptop, but once I found that gem I was relieved.
I play Black Desert Online which runs very nicely in Remastered mode with Ultra Quality using the new AMD FSR feature they added recently. FPS varies but is often in high 80s and even around 110 in some areas. I use the USB-C port for the video with my external monitor so I have both screens going.
The RGB on this laptop is cool. If you're wondering about the color bar on the bottom, it's really nice for dark environments because it's like a night light. The keyboard WASD is a nice touch. I also like the extra keys for the fans and Armoury Crate. There's enough ports for my gaming accessories, mouse headset, and video.
I really enjoy on Best Buy's return policy and especially their extended Geek Squad Protection plans. I recommend buying the longest plan possible. I feel confident this laptop will last and if it doesn't for some odd reason, Best Buy will take care of me. Pretty much... I get their warranty on everything, it's that good.

This was the only gift I bought for my son for Christmas, and it doesn’t work! Looks like a bad graphics card. Screen does not turn on. Very disappointed!
