[Employee of bestbuy] When first got the laptop, it was missing drivers and had a bunch of software crashes. I had to get new bios and reinstall windows on it to solve a bunch of program crashes, but even after that some of my softwares that i need for work would still crash. It sucks cause the laptop is so visually appealing and plays video games great, but i need it more for work and its not serving its purpose for that.

It is an absolute beast. Gaming laptops aren't known for being quiet, but this is much quiter than my previous laptop. It runs everything on max settings all day long with ease. The screen is great too, and is just a step below an Oled.

I changed my Strix 18 ti the strix scar 18 and they both rock but the scar stands out for the 5090 and the micro led screen love it previously was a owner of legion 7i and love the scar way more its a great gaming rig

This is the best laptop I’ve ever owned—by a wide margin. From performance to build quality, everything about it feels premium and intentional. It runs every game I throw at it effortlessly, stays responsive under heavy workloads, and still feels fast and smooth no matter what I’m doing. It completely exceeded my expectations. What surprised me most is how solid and refined it feels day-to-day. The screen is incredible, the keyboard feels great, and the overall experience just makes you want to use it. It doesn’t feel like just another device—it feels like something special. It’s easily my most prized piece of tech right now, and I’d buy it again without hesitation. If you’re considering a high-end gaming laptop and wondering whether it’s worth the investment, this one absolutely is. PS If I see one more review about battery life I’m gonna lose it. It obviously isn’t a laptop meant to be used off of its power supply.

Expansive but worth every penny. Best gaming feeling when not in front of my desktop

Great laptop I have had mine for a few months and have had no issues. It is extremely powerful and plays everything you can throw at it. The only thing I wish was better would be the speakers. They are not impressive, which is a shame because the speakers on the ROG Ally Xbox are amazing. Still this machine is worth every penny.

I’ve owned both the 2023 and 2025 versions of the ROG Strix Scar 18 (4090 and now the 5090). Both have the same serious issue where, under load, all USB and Thunderbolt ports stop working, even the built-in keyboard, touchpad, and Wi-Fi cut out until the system is forced off. I bought the new 5090 version assuming ASUS fixed the problem, but it’s exactly the same. The worst part is that ASUS support refuses to help because I purchased through Best Buy. They keep telling me to “contact Best Buy for warranty service,” but Best Buy can’t fix BIOS or firmware-level problems. I’m deployed overseas with the U.S. Army, so walking into a store isn’t an option for me anyway. I tried contacting ASUS corporate directly and even their CEO’s office form online but no response. For a laptop that costs this much, you’d expect better reliability and actual support from the manufacturer. I really wanted to love this system, but after two generations of the same problem and zero accountability, I’m done with ASUS until they fix this at the firmware level.

The price tag might be a problem for some people but the laptop itself can run most games without much issues.

Absolute beast, but at what cost. Laptop will start throttling anyways at one point, might as well get the ASUS TUF A18 or another lower end laptop for almost on par performance, similar monitor experience, and much lighter and half the price. This has overkill specs that don't get realized and a weight to make it impractical, also cost too high to justify, and battery goes so quick too

First gaming laptop purchase and it was a great pick up. The thing itself is amazing, you can play literally any game on it and it runs smooth at the highest quality. The screen is extremely vibrant and the video quality is amazing. I was hesitant on buying it but pulled the plug and I do not regret it one bit almost a year later. Definitely recommend this to anyone who is on the fence!

For a premium laptop at a very expensive price, it has by far the worst sounding speakers I've ever heard and I'm talking compared to even desktop speakers I used on my 486DX2/66 back in the day. I thought they were defective until I read all of the other people complaining about how bad they are. I've also been plagued with countless blue screens and I've heard nightmares about ASUS' RMA process. No advanced replacement option and people waiting a month to get their laptop fixed. I wish I would've chosen something better.

Worst piece of junk I have ever owned. Constantly crashes mid game and always has to be restarted. Took it to Best Buy to see if they can fix it but were unable to find a problem. Never buying anything from ROG ever again. Buy an MSI instead. Probably a 1000% better than this junk.

It died after around 4.5 months of use. Otherwise I liked it a lot. However, I don't like it now that it died. Yes, it was approved for warranty replacement, but that doesn't count for anything. What happened was one day, I was playing a game. Then the screen showed lines all over it in yellow, then green, then blue, and on it went. I hard powered it off and back on. The Nvidia GPU was DEAD. I was able to use programs with the integrated graphics, but the second I switched the computer to discrete GPU...the computer never came back after that. All it ever did was power on for 20-30 seconds and then power off.
