- Great design for such powerful performance
- Keyboard feels great and tactile; however, it is true that the backlight is simply sucks.
- Color accuracy is about 8/10, 120hz is great for casual gaming and productivity, ghosting due to low refresh rate is there but rarely happens. It also has freesync built in with the display.
- When heavy gaming, fan is loud (turbo) and the chassis is more than just warm, but it is the same case as any gaming laptop. If you want quiet and cool gaming, just built a pc, really. Fan is always on, but to put perspective, my home and office ac system is louder; therefore, I can barely hear the laptop’s.
- Battery is great. Not sure about 10 hrs like you tubers’ reviews but definitely better than most gaming laptop (>5 hrs of productivity)
- Ryzen 9 4000 series is lightning fast for regular users. Even though rtx 2060 MAX-q does not sound that good for gamers, it get the jobs done ( >100 FPS on madden, fifa, nba; 60->75 on forza, sekiro -all in highest setting)
- Overall, better built than most ROG laptops (Owned a GU502gv last year) in the past that infamously knowns for low quality built quality.

The laptop is simply amazing, especially for its size.
Pros:
- The AMD Ryzen 9 processor brings the frame rates in the majority of my games ALL the way down. I can even play on Max settings! Download speed is also really fast.
-1TB of SSD is so helpful for keeping all the games without having to undownload things.
-the laptop is small enough to be put into a regular backpack - or large purse - without having to purchase a laptop backpack.
- has an excellent battery life. I can use it for up to 8-10 hours when doing things other than gaming or watching videos. When gaming or watching videos it normally lasts around 2-4 hours - which is still great!!
- I love the keys backlighting, it makes it SO easy to work in the dark.
-finger print scanner!!!!! I love it!! It can be a little iffy sometimes, but at least you don’t have to keep typing in your password.
-GEForce RTX and Armoury crate makes gaming SO much easier. AC has 4 different settings for different tasks. My favorite is the windows and gaming option. Gaming option is, of course, best for gaming, while windows option helps when you’re doing school work or emailing.
-I’m a graphic designer, and this laptop runs Adobe programs without ANY issue. It also runs blender great.
Cons:
-No camera. You’ll have to purchase a separate camera for video chatting.
-has way too many type-c ports. More USB ports would be helpful considering mice and headphones are more likely to have either USB cords or audio jacks.
-only 1 audio jack port. At least two should be available.
-USB ports are weirdly placed, there should be at least one audio jack port and one USB port next to each other so that people with RGB headphones can use their RGB (some require an audio port and a USB port).
-the screen is smaller than I’m use to, but the graphic quality on it makes it worth it. If you’re wanting a big screen, you might want to invest in a monitor for this laptop.
-can get overheated easy when you use it on your lap, so it’s best used on a level and solid surface.
-when it gets over heated or when the fans turn on to prevent overheating, they are LOUD! So if you’re looking for a quiet work computer, this one might not be good for you. BUT, it never gets TOO hot, so any internal melting is very unlikely.
Over all, this laptop is amazing! I highly recommend it as a starter gaming laptop.
I’ll try to remember to come back after a year!

Slim and Lightweight Gaming Notebook Beast

This notebook is a slim and lightweight gaming notebook that pretty much runs any game above 60+ FPS with a 120Hz screen and a battery that lasts ~ 7 to 10 hours. Of course when you're gaming the battery will last only about ~2 to 3 hours. I really enjoy the way the screen folds up and lifts the laptop up a little bit for better circulation. I've already noticed that this laptop does not run hot compared to previous gaming laptops I have owned. The fans are powerful, the AMD Ryzen Series 9 is super fast and the RTX 2060 is capable of handling windows tasks and gaming at lightning speeds. I really enjoy the slim, sleek, and almost silent gaming laptop which doesn't scream RGB lighting and obnoxious designs. It weighs about 4 lbs, has a slim and small charging cable, and I can run almost any game out there on high or ultra settings (Hunt: Showdown, Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5, GTA 5, Fortnite, Mortal Kombat 11, CoD MW, COD WZ). This little notebook is a beast, it's lightning fast, and is very quiet when you're not gaming which is nice.

Looks so good in a meeting room you'll catch envious eyes. Performs all tasks and games like a BOSSS!! I get 4.4ghz on the 4800HS constantly and between 4.2-4.3ghz while All Sixteen Threads are under full load..! My RTX 2060 Max-Q hits over 2Ghz with 2010Mhz boosts and between 1541-1760Mhz while pushing absolutely Max'd Out Ray Traced graphics onto the 120Hz display. Basically, it's a GD Monster in unassuming looks. If you need a laptop that's more powerful than most brand new PC's, weighs only 3.5lbs and is ultra portable due its size; this is The laptop to buy. I Love the sound quality, keyboard (except the backlighting), look, feel, performance and everything else about this laptop so much that I dropped a 2tb SSD in mine and let me tell you; I'm using that space alright. Games Games Games, demanding programs and large files from high resolution video editing, etc. makes the extra room worth it for me. Last thing, the USB Type-C connection on the left side of this thing let's you plug in a $15 adapter that adds 3 more USB 3.0 Type-A (regular looking USB) ports, a full size and Micro SD card reader and another HDMI port. You can even use that port to charge the laptop with your cell phone charger.
This laptop is an Unprecedented Value and is one of the fastest and definitely the most efficient laptop in the world. If you can afford it, Buy It.

So I absolutely love this laptop. It’s by far the the best overall built laptop on the market that has power, battery life, portability, and build quality. Hands down.
That being said there was one big issue with my laptop once I started playing around with it. After driver and windows all got updated. I started noticing blue screens on startup. Only sometimes. And it wasn't the same blue screen, it would pop up 3 different ones at random sometimes.
So I noticed the only thing not update to the newest version was my bios. Thankfully I’ve been building and working with computers for over a decade now and was familiar with doing this. Once done the problem still happened. So I ran out of logical options as I had no clue what to do with this brand new laptop. It worked perfectly after the blue screen went away and it restarted on its own. Like nothing ever happened.
But I called asus and they had no idea either then recommended I reformat my brand new laptop I’ve had for 12 days. With regret I had no choice at this point. So I went through the process of wiping the current operating system and redoing everything from scratch. Windows updates, driver updates, installing all the asus apps that work amazing on this specific computer.
Finally got it done. Guess what? No more blue screens. So moral of this story is I’m not sure what asus is shipping these laptops with software wise. But I had issues out of the box on mine and ended up having to wipe it all and reformat from scratch. Now for me this isn’t a big deal. But some that are less knowledgeable vs me will struggle massively with this issue. So if some of what I’ve said is confusing or your don’t understand, It’s not a set up and go type of experience I have had. But now it’s problem free and amazing as ever. I just wanted to share my experience and earn some people if your not tech savvy then you may be on the phone with asus for quite awhile having them teach you how to reformat over the phone or be forced to send it in for repairs and be without your new laptop for weeks.
But my system may have Been a rare occurrence and I would still highly recommend this product. It’s truly remarkable how heavy duty this thing feels. And it’s now been problem free over a week so I’m happy to say all has been solved thanks to me. Asus needs to check their products better before putting them in the hands of customers.

I had heard great things about the new Ryzen 9 chipset. So I was anticipating to see what a laptop can do with this chipset. I was not disappointed; this machine is fast and in a small package. I saw YouTube reviews and decided to purchase it.
I primarily do photo and video editing so when I saw that the render times were a key metric that was going to be improved also helped sway my decision.
I have played a few games nothing that can be taxing, I did play the new BattleTech game and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak both on ultra with no problems.
Though I will say one thing about this laptop, it runs hot. Like really hot! I have included a few photos so you can see how hot the keyboard area was getting as I was playing a game.
It can be unbearable at times and limit how much you game.
The fan does get quite loud when it is heating up, trying to keep the insides cool.
I did not find the same ting occurring as I was editing and rendering, I guess I was not taxing the system as much.
I think for the price it was a great deal, I built out another laptop with the same specs on another website and it came out to 2500 dollars. So having this much power for 1000 dollars less was a no brainer.
I do recommend the laptop, but make sure you use it in a air condition room, over the summer I was using to play at a house with no air conditioning and the heat coming off the laptop made hard to continue using.
Pros: Very powerful
Great price
Small form factor
Cons: Runs hot
A little loud trying to keep cool

Very happy with this laptop overall. Check out the attached UserBenchmark data -- this thing performs well above and beyond my expectations. The processor and SSD are both lightning-quick (seriously, wow) and the RAM is sufficient for the resource-intensive photo and video editing work I do (though, at times, I could definitely benefit from more memory).
I do wish that I could upgrade to 32GB of (dual-channel) RAM, but of course I knew the limitations (one stick is soldered to the board) prior to purchase, and everything else about this laptop outweighed that drawback.
The RTX 2060 Max-Q runs AAA games like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla rather smoothly, but doesn't pack enough of a wallop to max out the settings without sacrificing a stable framerate. This doesn't bother me a bit, as I have plenty of older games to catch up on, and this baby runs smooth as butter with virtually everything but the most demanding games.
I was slightly disappointed to find some small manufacturing defects on the brand-new laptop, including a dented keyboard key (the left Ctrl key), a tiny scratch on the lower right side of the screen and (ok, this one is super neurotic) misaligned AMD and Nvidia stickers.
Aside from those small defects, the only fault I can find with this machine is the keyboard, specifically the backlighting. As many other reviewers have stated, it is poor. Terribly executed. Light leaks out of the key borders, and doesn't illuminate the keys well when viewed from some angles. For me, it's a non-issue as I almost never utilize this feature. But it's a significant problem, and it does detract from what's otherwise a near-perfect computer.
Having said all that, I'd buy this again in a heartbeat, and I recommend it without reservation (unless a nicely backlit keyboard is important to you).

Only problems I could see with this thing from my experience is when I updated windows something weird happened with the drivers and my Wi-Fi Driver stopped working and it would not even let me choose the Internet just airplane mode. After resetting the computer and fiddling around with the settings I decided to update my bios and It fixed everything. There’s a lot of frustration when setting up the computer but after you mess around with it a little bit and know the ins and outs of your machine things will get much better. One big thing about the computer is the fans are not super loud but noticeable. If it’s in the winter and you have this thing running in your small room this thing will keep your room warm, but in these hot summer days, you may want to crank up the air conditioning because this thing will heat up your room for sure even in just performance mode. I did find out later that the turbo mode does not work unless it is plugged in with the charger. Reason I give it five stars though is because the laptop in itself does everything that I expected it to do. It does really good on multitasking, I can run four instances on my blue stacks using macros on all 4 and run a fancy game at the same time without any crashes or slow downs. I was originally going to go with a digital storm laptop and drop a whooping $2000 plus tax but I am super grateful my brother in law suggested this one. Saved money and ended up with a way faster laptop. Also the copy and paste to and from external hard drives is super fast. Really can’t complain.

I’m getting 144fps on ultra with all settings maxed in warzone. If I turn on ray tracing I see a dip but I’m well over 100fps on a 60 inch 4k tv at 1080p settings! This thing flies and does sticks and benchmarks like none other. It doesn’t look that powerful.. it looks like a kids Chromebook and if you didn’t see the amd and rtx stickers you wouldn’t even know what it was really. Design is great and trackpad is super solid closest to the macs I have seen. The downsides is that single trackpad means no 2 buttons if you wanna game and shoot heads off so you need a mouse when gaming. I use a controller though. Also this runs hot but I found that I’d you close the lid while gaming it will throttle the cpu but still max out the GPU which this CPU is too strong for most games anyway. Unrarring a 10gb file takes 8 seconds. It’s crazy how strong it is.
If you use an external Monitor it will draw less power and the fps will go down a smudge but won’t get as hot. It runs hot if you run full max settings with armory crate settings if performance or turbo. Hottest I’ve seen is turbo at 82gpu and cpu. I set mine in a marble counter which makes a cold difference. I wish it had better snap in feel for the power button and the lid hinge when opening has a tiny flex but overall it’s solid. One major gripe is white in white with silver backlight makes keys hard to read I wish they did red backlight that be so bad azz... to think I almost bought a MacBook like a dummy and pulled the trigger on this open box for 1300 and dang am I happy.. this thing rips games and I can game outside in my yard for about 3 hours before I need battery. Gaming on battery with throttle cpu and gpu but honestly I get 60fps on battery and it doesn’t get hot at all so I like battery.. when your almost dead and you charge up while gaming the ac adapter gets super hot.
Overall easily the best laptop I ever owned just wish the keys were easier to see and maybe a little less installed bloat but hey it’s cool seeing the ROG startup logo. Also those complaining about the black screens or the fingerprint reader issues they seemed to put patches out that fixed the black screens and the reader got a lot better maybe not full proof yet but a tin better
the fans go a lot when heavy gaming but I wouldn’t say they are loud just some nice white noise. If you switch modes to silent mode when gaming to throttles cpu and gpu a bit but can’t hear the fans as much or at all. Windows mode kills the gpu and this things dead quiet then even when doing cpu intensive tasks
Also super reliable no freezing no blue screens or lockup’s haven’t hit windows task manager yet
This is a desktop killer
See my photos of me hitting 155fps on ultra all day in warzone

There are many things you have to do so that you can take full advantage of the laptop's battery and power. It will not perform at it's best straight out of the box. Also, occasionally there are popping noises that come out of the speaker (about once every hour or so). Also, the keyboard backlighting is very weak on models with an older manufacturing date. So essentially, this becomes a bit of a gamble because if you get a model that is before May or June then you can expect some backlighting issues with they keyboard. I have an April model and I'm unfortunately stuck with it. If keyboard backlighting isn't a huge issue then this laptop will be great for all around use. It is one of the best portable and compact laptop you can buy for it's price. It's very thin and lightweight, great at converting 4k videos, and can run most games at decent settings.

First of all, I can say that this is the best purchase I have made this year, even the new iPhones coming out wont top my happiness with this laptop purchase.
I love playing video games, I have a desktop with a Ryzen 9 3900X, and RTX 2080, but I want something portable to game on while away from home. This laptop with a 14 inch screen is just the perfect size for portable gaming and performance. It took me a month of looking around, comparing gaming laptops, but I always come back to this G14, so I ended up buying it. The out of the box experience is wonderful, I love how clean looking it is. It has a good weight to it which makes it feel very premium, but not too heavy to sacrifice portability. So, in terms of appearance, hands down I like this even better than my Macbook Pro.
For gaming performance, I will not bother you with numbers and benchmarks, but rather a real life experience. I used the nVidia Experience software to scan my games, then let the software optimize the games for the system, and that's it. I used the same set up from my desktop, and comparing the experience between the two systems, I could not tell the difference. I am able to play AAA titles with virtually almost the same user experience on both machines. Other than the screen size, my games feel the same on both machines. Without looking at the FPS numbers, the visual experience in games are very smooth and snappy.
For productivity, I deal with a lot of file encryption as part of my work. Sometimes I need to decrypt gigabytes of text files that usually takes several minutes to finish. On a Macbook Pro, when I start to decrypt a 2GB file, I can stand up, make some coffee, and still not done when I get back, But with the G14, file decryption is already done by the time I get back.
Overall, I really love this laptop. If there is only one gripe, I wish there was an extra M.2 slot available to add more storage to accommodate big games like COD. But everything else is perfect. Highly recommended.

Excellent quality, lightweight, fast, perfect for handling my 3d arch viz programs, an overall powerhouse.
What I don’t like is the white backlight is horrible as it washes out the grey keys. Pointless unless in a dark room.
Asus description could have been better at distinguishing online which models came with the LED matrix on case as this one does not. The one that does coats $500 more and is under the name Lunar white.
Regardless of their claims on the site - the laptop gets hot - really hot.
Lastly - for a gaming laptop it should really have more than just 2 USB ports. They skimped on the hookups.

I purchased the g14 with an AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS and nvidia 2060 max-Q. This does amazing at gaming. It does get super hot while gaming though. Make sure you use a laptop cooler. Works great for video editing and music production as well. Although, still not as good or quiet as my i7 desktop for music production. Battery life seems to be good, but I haven’t used this enough to know really how good or how long the claimed 10 hours is. Just make sure you plug power in for gaming. Nice power to size ratio. If you get the white model, I would suggest getting a keyboard cover to make the keys more visible. As you can see, I removed the stickers for a more pleasing aesthetic.

Got this specifically for gaming and processing my videos and digital photography. I am extremely pleased. I primarily play WoW and I am able to run on higher settings and it handles it just fine even in the middle of fights.
I will say that it does get hot so I invested in a cooling pad and now it runs perfect. The only complaint is the lack of webcam but I have an external one as well as other devices I can use if needed.

Laptop came in perfectly and good. No issues so far, and hopefully it stays that way. Ryzen CPU is great and it has integrated graphics as well so that's a plus and has all the cores and threads! GPU is amazing for the laptop being so thin. Cpu on loads goes to 75-80 celsius, and GPU around 70 Celsius. The fingerprint sensor works well enough most of time and keyboards is perfect expect perhaps the lighting. I did have to configure some stuff to get 10 hours of battery but its worth it. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a premium slim super powerful gaming laptop that ASUS has built with no compromise on build quality or performance. This laptop features AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS Series with 8 Cores/16 Threads. HS series processor is targeted towards gamers and content creators with high performance and great battery life.
There are 2 other models with low- and high-end specifications compared to this model. Higher end model which is slightly expensive ($1999) has anime matrix LED & QHD 60Hz display and lower/base end model ($1050) has Ryzen 7 4800 HS, 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD. I suggest to get this model if you are looking for better performance and to me the higher end model with QHD is an overkill for 14inch laptop.
What is in the box: Asus ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 laptop, 180W Power adapter, Manual/warranty sheets.
Measurement & Weight: It measures 12.8 x 8.7 x 0.7 inches (32.5 x 22.1 x 1.8cm) and weighs 3.5 pounds (1.6kg).
Display: 14 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS-level panel, 120Hz.
Color: Comes in 2 different colors. Moonlight white & Eclipse Gray. I received the Moonlight white color and its made of magnesium alloy which looks very cool and durable.
Design: Lid on this laptop is unique, with a diagonal cut separating two portions and a series of small holes. There is also an emblem at the left of the lid for “Republic of Gamers, Est 2006”.
This 14 inch display has a thin bezel with white backlighting on the keyboard. It lacks RGB backlighting unlike other gaming laptops. Also, the keyboard and trackpad is of silver color and not white as exterior. Not sure why ASUS went with 2 colors for this laptop but it looks good. Asus also used the same ErgoLift hinge that was in Zenbooks where the bottom of the laptop lift up at a slight angle when opened fully. This is a great design to open the laptop in one hand and very useful for typing both ergonomically and for air flow/heat expulsion. Couple of grills on the top, bottom and both sides of laptop for great ventilation to reduce heat due to gaming.
Windows 10 was preinstalled and upon initial boot and with few questions like country and keyboard selection it asked to login to my Microsoft account and once done, it started downloading firmware and updating windows.
Performance: This is great laptop with mind-blowing performance on a small 14 inch form factor for gamers. With 8 cores and 16 threads this AMD Ryzen 4900 HS CPU is designed for gamers in mind and for users with multitasking/content creators. During my daily usage for the past week, no issues working with multiple tabs on the chrome browser and also on the Microsoft IE browser. It automatically switches to modes when it’s not connected to power source and working on battery for efficient battery life. I have attached my benchmark pictures from Cinebench and as you can see it clearly boasts in performance compared to other laptops in test. Performs the best in multicore test compared to single core test but its performance on a portable 14 inch is never seen before on any gaming laptops. Great work by AMD and ASUS for achieving this great performance. Also, this laptop comes with 1TB of SSD storage that is plenty for content creators or for gamers.
Armoury Crate software is easy to load with the dedicated hotkey on the top of the keyboard and its very convenient to change the performance mode of the windows from silent, performance, turbo and manual. Software provides a great dashboard of the system performance from CPU Stats, GPU Stats, Fan Speed, Memory and Storage details at a quick glance and tweak if required. Also, it has various settings and profiles(see attached pic).
Charger/Ports: On the left side of the laptop you have the power port, HDMI 2.0 port, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port and headphone jack. On the right side you have a Kensington lock slot, 2 - USB 3.1 Gen Type-A ports, USB Gen2 3.2 Type C Port. You can also use USB C to charge the laptop battery using a 65W power adapter (not included) for greater flexibility and to charge any compatible smartphones or portable devices. I used my Dell XPS 13 inch laptop USB C power adaptor and charges well and will come handy during travel where you don’t need to carry the power brick 180w charger. If you need fast charging then recommend using the 180 W charger that comes with the laptop to save time. Also, it lacks Thunderbolt 3 ports and it may be due to Intel proprietary issues.
Battery: It is advertised that battery will last up to 10.7 hours video playback and up to 9.5hours web browsing. In my testing, it was pretty close to 10 hours of video playback under minimal brightness and it lasted close to 9+ hours on standard web browsing without the need to charge or connect to power source. Very impressive and didn’t expect a phenomenal battery life on a gaming laptop. Also, another great feature is to charge from portable battery packs when you are on the road where you don’t carry the huge adapter.
Keyboard and Trackpad: G14 has a great full functionality chicklet keyboard with some dedicated hotkeys for volume buttons, microphone mute and ROG Armoury Crate software button. Also, another cool feature this laptop features is the fingerprint login on the power button. This is one of the best feature that all laptop in the coming days should implement for the ease of use. Once fingerprint is configured for various users, just with the power button it recognizes the fingerprint and logs in to that windows user profile. Great security, peace of mind and ease of use N-Key switches. Touchpad (4.1 x 2.4 inch) is surprisingly good and has good right/left click. One negative is the backlighting on the keyboard. Not very bright. It may be due to silver color blending with white lighting but it does lack the RGB lighting as other gaming laptops on the market. Also, a mute button for speaker would have been a great add-on.
Speaker & Mic: Compared to other laptops I own, this one has the best audio due to the virtual 5.1.2 channel surround sound. It has 2 front facing 2.5 W speakers on both sides below the keyboard. Due to Dolby Atmos technology, sound quality is greatly optimized and sounds great when watching movies on Netflix or prime videos or playing games. Great job by Asus on the placement design of the speaker/tweeters firing directly at the user. It has got array microphones and works great for calls.
Camera: No camera on this device. Not sure why Asus decided not to have a camera on a gaming laptop. If you are looking for a laptop with front facing camera for gaming or for video calls (zoom/skype) then you are out of luck and have to use external camera.
Pros: Great Battery life (approx. 9.8 - 10 hours); Excellent Performance for gaming in slim sleek portable design; Great 120Hz display; Dolby Atmos audio; Fingerprint sensor power button; dedicated hotkeys for volume buttons, microphone mute.
Cons: Missing Camera/Webcam & Ethernet port; not effective Keyboard backlight.
Verdict: This is a great slim portable gaming laptop on the market with excellent performance, high quality built, audio, display, screen size and battery life. If you are in the market for a gaming laptop that delivers better performance then you will not be disappointed at the price point it offers except that it misses the webcam feature.
Highly recommend for its performance, price and compact size over other brands in the market.

I'm a dental practitioner and I have been using this product since day one to provide my patients with quality digital planning. Digital X-rays and other high performance high demand programs without any issues. Highly recommend if you are looking for a gaming laptop for work purposes. Additionally, battery life seems to be compromised when using high performance programs.

Thermals, performance, battery life: all excellent. Getting 10+hrs on batt once tweaked, idles in the low 30Cs. Timespy 6224/5871/9444, Geekbench5 CPU 1208/7812, Geekbench5 compute 73120, Cinebench R20 multi 4315. CSGO Panj/ulletics 262FPS. Warzone is 90-110FPS ultra.
The one huge caveat to this otherwise excellent laptop is the abysmal screen. Introduces so much lag via slow response time that it's like a 50hz screen in practice. 20.85ms average gray-to-gray, highest 35.40ms. Hard to believe this is marketed as a gaming laptop.
800-1000DPI @ sens 2 - 4 180deg/flick shot is a blurry muddy ghosting mess. Unplayable for esport FPS.
I hope Asus releases a revision with an actual >120hz screen, I'll buy it in a second.
On top of that there are so many G14 QC issues: Keys sticking/repeating, key backlight, fan ticking, coil whine, screen backlight, case materials flaking off, random death w/ burnt electronics smell, speakers popping, random black screens (solved w/ fw?). Might take a few tries before you get one without issues. The only issue I had other than screen was a useless keyboard backlight. See my pics for backlight in dim light and pitch black. Laughable.
