Blue Ray Player not for a beginner

Called Best Buy. They said call Asus. Asus could not get it to work. Said to call Best Buy and have Geek Squad install it. I called Best Buy back. They said I did not buy support on new product and doubted as to whether Geek Squad would help me. Planning on malking the 35 mile trip to Best Buy to see if I can get help. Also, could not get player into simple plastic stand with out a lot of force. Did not want to supply that force so stand is useless.

Please ensure that the laptop meets the minimum system requirements to play Blu-Ray discs. You should also ensure that you have a Blu-ray player application installed on your computer. You may want to try this unit on a different computer and see if a Blu-ray disc will work. ||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an old net book (ASUS Eee PC 1000HA) that I needed to re-install windows on because it got all infected. I was able to boot the windows install disk connected to my EEE PC with this. Got the Blu-Ray reader for future proofing. Nice style and design. It does need two USB ports for power but I like that more than needed a separate plug for the wall. It came with some backup software but I didn't try it.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received item less than 24 hours ago and spent most of the time between then and now just trying to install it with no luck. I have a ASUS notebook that doesn't have a disk drive and thought this would be a great add on. It took 10 hours to get ahold of anyone, and when I did they were just as confused as I was. Although it claims it is compatible with Windows 8 they haven't done an update to their drivers since 2006, which seems to be the problem. I'm sure this could be a nice product but it's not up to date as advertised, therefore I can't give it more than a star. You've been warned.
