This is definitely a good laptop to get if you are someone like me who doesn't really play the big hardcore games on PC I primarily play the big games on console and I play a bunch of indie games on PC. And it runs really great. The display is nice. The battery life not plugged in Will last you about 2 hours if you have it on performance and almost 4 hours if you have it on battery saver mode. Overall I'm very satisfied with this laptop. So we played this game before a bounty even popped up

Works great for emulation and older games such as Destiny 2 and Witcher 3. Nice large screen and comfy keyboard.
It only comes with one stick of 8GB RAM installed so I recommend adding another 8GB DDR4 3200 SODIMM stick for dual channel to improve performance.

Well I was going to give this computer a good review, until without warning it dies on me. Was working fine the same day, then suddenly it wouldn't turn back on. It has just ran out of the manufacturers warranty about 5 months ago. I've only had this computer since the end of 2022, so it's still a new computer. I haven't finished the set up, and was still being prompted, as I was mainly using it for work, so the extra features I didn't need. But I needed a computer for work . I'm very disappointed as getting a new computer this soon wasn't in my budget, thank goodness this happened at a time when they are running steep discounts to clear out last year's model of computers. I wouldn't recommend this brand of computers

Overall Good Gaming Laptop

Pros:
- Very high possible refresh rates while in games (easily hits or passes the maximum 144hz displayable).
- Boots up in under 4 seconds from a complete shutdown, and restarts fairly quickly compared to other gaming desktops.
- The keyboard is compact yet very reachable in terms of key spacing, and is very responsive when typing. I prefer laptop keyboards in terms of long-term typing experiences, so this is a bonus.
- The RTX 3050ti GPU is very powerful when gaming, and the internal cooling system (fans and heat dispersion) keeps the laptop cooler when playing heavily taxing games.
- 3 USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI port, and a thunderbolt port allow for multiple devices to be plugged in at once with high connection speeds, and it allows for multiple external monitors to be connected at once.
- The screen is a pretty good size for gaming. All of the images displayed on screen are clear and vibrant. Gameplay is smooth and there is no visible screen tearing.
- RGB customization for the keyboard is simple and straightforward, and much of the customization can be done through the Armory Crate application that is preinstalled with the computer.
- Comes preinstalled with Windows 11, allowing for a simple and enjoyable setup experience. It doesn't take long to get everything updated, and automatically checks and notifies the user with available updates when needed.
- Has easy to access upgradable ram and memory slots, coming with a default 8gb 3200mHz DDR4 ram stick and a 512gb NVMe SSD that can be swapped out or added to accordingly.
- The laptop isn't too heavy and has a sleek design, allowing for easy traveling and gaming on the go.
- The function keys allow for all of the required laptop functions and more to be performed without extra applications, accessories, or 3rd party software to do.
- Bluetooth connectivity is quick, and very low latency is shown while accessing this feature.
- Wifi connections stay strong and have no issue while connected.
- External displays have no latency through the HDMI port on the laptop, and accessing these external displays is simple and easy.
Cons:
- The 8gb 3200mHz DDR4 ram that comes preinstalled in the computer bottlenecks the performance considerably because it doesn't use dual channel memory. Adding 2x8gb 2400mHz DDR4 ram sticks helped with a significant fps boost.
- The laptop, once the power cable is removed, becomes much laggier in terms of gameplay because the CPU is used a lot more than the GPU, making it only really effective while plugged in.
- The trackpad is less tactile, meaning it is harder to know if you clicked into it or not (definitely recommend using the left and right click buttons or an external mouse).
- The built-in webcam is hardly usable. The tones and color correction are completely off. The camera is very fuzzy and doesn't have great quality, and it is hardly recommended for any type of calling.
- The mic quality, although not the best, works better than the webcam in terms of functionality, and is usable if required. I wouldn't suggest using this over a high-quality headset mic or desk mic.
- The battery doesn't last too long when off the charger because the gaming system takes a lot of power to run at higher efficiency. I heavily suggest playing games and doing taxing activities while charging the device.
Suggestions to buyers (before the purchase):
I suggest getting a secondary 1-2tb NVMe SSD because the base 512gb NVMe that comes with the device gets taken up quickly, leading to limited storage for games, applications, and files alike.
Another big suggestion is upgrading the ram to dual channel, rather than the given 8gb single channel memory stick. Doing so allows the computer to run more efficiently, and gives a significant fps boost in the process.
The final things I suggest getting are an external mouse (wired or wireless) for a more enjoyable gaming and work experience, and a wrist pad in order to keep the sleek edges of the frame from digging into your wrists as you play.

I was super excited to see this product and had many expectations that I hoped would be met. My current laptop is a Surface Laptop 4 so I will compare to that. First, the Pros: I really enjoy the bigger screen. It is a nice screen and beautiful, once properly set up (I will get to that more). 144hz refresh rate and I have not experienced stuttering. Gaming is pretty good. Online games run smooth with no issues (other than WIFI lag, more below). PUBG runs good, max settings once the RAM was upgraded and I had no issues. COD mobile, disappointing here. With the GPU you can only run on high settings if you turn the refresh rate down and sometimes you still get stuttering. I guess the 3050Ti is just not cut out for it. It was nice that I could connect to XBOX network and play the games I already own. I did this for the testing. The battery life is ok when in balanced mode but pretty short on performance mode ~3 hours. I expected better. Setup was straight forward with Windows 11 Home right out of the box. The laptop is quick and snappy. Everything works quickly and precise. The colored keyboard is a nice touch with some customization in the armoury crate. The armoury crate is a nice tool to see everything about the laptop and make some adjustments to your liking. Nice touch. MYASUS app is also a nice tool for keeping your laptop up to date, registered and what not. You can also see your routers information on there if you have a current ASUS router, which I do. Another nice touch. CONS: the first thing I had to do was fix the colors on the screen. They come very stale and muted. Having not used an ASUS laptop, I had to research how to do this and it is in the Armoury Crate. Once I chose VIVID and adjusted the coolness setting to 65, it was pretty good. I like a Samsung like oversaturated color pop. Another thing here, it seems the laptop has to warm up for 5 or so minutes for the full colors to appear, every time. I have a screen splitter from my work Dell computer that allows me to use multiple screens AND charge the laptop. I have not been able to charge the computer through USB-C. Pretty disappointing but since I don't use two screens currently, not a deal breaker. RAM is 8GB and you definitely need to upgrade, which I did. I put another 8GB in and noticed an immediate difference in smoothness and such. Everything runs just a little bit better. The fans on this thing are something else. Pretty loud but you can adjust that profile in the Armoury Crate, as well. I use performance mode so they are not constantly on, but when they are on, it is like a mini jet plane landing. The webcam. I was disappointed that I cannot unlock my computer by simply sitting in front of the screen and tapping the space bar. You have to type a PIN or something every time. You would think this would be standard. Finally the two really bad things. The sound out of the laptop speakers are horrible. Even with an online forum suggestion of upgrading to DTS:X Ultra drivers, the sound is bad. Very tinny and lacking if fullness. Headphones work great and the sound is full and sharp but I don't want to wear headphones every time I use my laptop. Finally, the WIFI card. I am not sure why there is a Mediatek MT7921 card in here. I started experiencing connection lag about a week in and finally did my research. This card attempts to stay at the highest possible connection rate and "loses" packets. Very frustrating while doing ANYTHING especially gaming! I found fixes but I dont want to go through all that. The connection works better on 2.4Ghz (lower Mbps connection rate) but you still get some connection lag. This defeats the purpose of having an AX WIFI card, though. So, I will be replacing it with an Intel AX210 WIFI card tomorrow. Overall, decent laptop. Not a true gaming laptop, kind of a hybrid laptop for some occasional gaming. Ill stick to my XBOX Series X for true gaming.

Mid-range gaming on-the-go

Got the ASUS - TUF Gaming 17.3" Laptop several days ago and have been putting through its paces both as a “desktop replacement” and a mid-range portable gaming system. First of all this thing is massive, but still under 1” thin despite its desktop class hardware and upgradability options.
It came configured w/only 1x 8GB DDR4 memory stick, and a 512 GB SSD M.2 drive. Luckily there is another memory slot and also a slot for another SSD M.2 drive. I would strongly recommend upgrading the memory and if you plan to install more than just a few games, you will definitely need more disk space. The Intel 11th Generation Core i5 11400H offers solid 6-core 2.7 GHz performance that’s great for multi-tasking and all around gaming, productivity and photo/video processing apps as well.
Other notable features are plenty of USB ports - 3x USB 3.1 Type A Ports and 1x USB 3.2 Type C Port. Also one HDMI 2.0 port and gigabit Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi 6 AX. The RGB backlit keyboard is customizable and has a nice, solid feel to it with just enough travel and resistance.
Now on to what makes this laptop a gaming laptop - the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti video card w/4 GB of dedicated video memory. It also supports DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Ray tracing that help provide a fluid gaming experience for many games with high quality settings turned on. I have tried a few games such as Call of Duty, Rise of Tomb Raider and Grand Theft Auto V with high visual settings @1080p resolution and easily got 60-99 fps. You’ll be able to play most modern AAA games at mid to high settings on the go while you’re away from your main high-end desktop rig that lets you max out all the visual settings, but not everyone needs those extremes at all times.
The 17.3 LED FHD 1080p display offers 144 Hz refresh rate which is great for a fluid, flicker free gaming experience, but in my experience it wasn’t bright enough to use in a well lit room, especially with lots of sun or natural light. I’ve been spoiled with super bright adaptive OLED displays on my phones and Chromebooks, so perhaps this 17.3” screen doesn’t look as dim to you.
The battery life is not great considering the power hungry video card and large display, especially when you’re playing games and the CPU and GPU fans kick-in as well, but that’s to be expected, so make sure you have a plug near-by or you’re fully charged before you need to get your gaming fix while waiting to board your plane at the airport…lol
All in all, I would say this is an entry to mid-level gaming laptop that can easily be upgraded to be even better and should satisfy most reasonable gamers on the go and also act as an affordable desktop replacement.

I bought this in the open box display, I believe it was a customer return. Either way, it was an open box but in perfect condition. Seems fast enough with the i5 and 8GB of RAM however, I did immediately upgrade the RAM to 16GB and will be putting in a larger drive since this currently only has 512GB. Salesperson at my local store said this would be SATA III, turns out it's PCIe gen 4. Playing GTA V struggles on anything higher than medium settings but this laptop doesn't break a sweat doing it either. Since this comes with a 48Wh battery, battery life is pretty short when you do anything more than browsing. Upgrading to a 90Wh battery would be a must if you're on the go.
Overall, I'm happy with this laptop so far.

Entry level gaming machine

I prefer gaming on a PC. You get a greater variety of games and you can literally build a machine to your specifications. Therefore they perform better because you get what you pay for. But I have only really used a desk top. I will quality that by saying I have had laptops before in the past, I have even had one gaming laptop in the past. But to be completely honest it lacked the performance I wanted and I just stayed with what I was familiar. I do currently have a laptop, but I use it for work related items.
The Asus TUF Gaming 17.3” Intel Core i5 laptop is a solid entry level contender in my opinion. This is definitely a gaming laptop for many reasons. First off, you will note that it is fairly heavy, which is not something you want if you are going to lug it around and use it for your everyday school/college needs. It is heavy because it has a lot going for it in respect to its abilities as a gaming computer. Are there things I would change? For sure. But for the price I think it is a good value.
Looking at this particular model, it is sleek with attractive angles and the “Eclipse Grey” is a nice color on it. Once you open it up and turn it on, the color changing keyboard illuminates well but not too much, and highlights your standard directional keys of W-A-S-D used as basic gaming controls. The 10-key pad is a nice addition, so it has a full keyboard feel to it.
The screen is large for a laptop at 17.3”. The refresh rate (144 Hz) is good and handled the games I was playing on it (more about that below). Its good and I didn’t notice any visual distortion of any sort while playing. Once you get past the initial set up, you will see it is running Windows 10. But immediately you are prompted to upgrade to Windows 11 which I did.
I tried the laptop on CoD and GTA5. The fans kicked on pretty quick, but that was expected. I was at 1080p and I was averaging over 70+ fps with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti video card. This leads me to my next point. I found the battery went pretty quick. Likely due to the video card in combination with a screen that is fairly large. I got well over an hour out of it, but not more than 30 minutes past that.
So I mentioned you get what you pay for right? As what I could call a wallet friendly gaming computer, you are going to get wallet friendly components. It is only an i5, which is a mid-level processor that really seems to do its job just fine. You are getting 512GB of SSD with 8GB of RAM. For me I would have liked to have 1TB, but I understand why they made it this way. I also would have liked to have 16GB of RAM, but again for the price you have to cut things somewhere. A pleasant surprise I did not pick up on right away, is that there is a second SSD slot where you can add another 512GB. Even better, you can expand the RAM up to 64GB if you are inclined to do so. Newegg here I come…
Overall I like it a lot and think this is a solid platform to start with. The price is great and I am sure you can probably find it on sale from time to time and get an even better deal. With the option to expand upon the platform it makes it an even more attractive offer that can essentially grow with the individual gamer. I don’t care about the weight, this is not a work computer and I wont use it as one. But it will be a fun traveling gaming machine. More so when I get done adding some things to it.
I would recommend it to an entry level gamer, but a serious gamer is going to probably want more as a baseline model to start from. Me? It is something I plan on sharing with my little gamers at the house. Oh, and it comes with a sticker pack for whatever reason if you want to put them on your water bottle or coffee cup. Thank you for reading.

Great little laptop for moderate gamers who also want to use it for personal PC uses. I can watch videos and scroll the web with ease and style then jump into my favorite PC online game withy friends and play them with high settings. I will suggest adding another stick of RAM to this as it's a cheap easy upgrade and this PC makes it easy to do. I added another 8gig stick of DDR 3200mhz which is the same that it comes with it.
