Customers express satisfaction with the Vivobook 14's performance, ease of use, battery life, price, size, and lightweight design. Many appreciate the RAM's upgradeability. However, some users note that the screen quality and touchpad could be improved, while others find the fan noise and number pad functionality less than ideal.

I bought during a flash sale for a little over $200 and if you base that price on everything else being expensive today it is a really good deal.
It retails on Best Buy for around $400 but I wouldn't recommend it for that price.
Pros:
- Price when on sale
- i3 processor
- Fast SSD hard drive
Cons:
- Very small screen
- 8 GB RAM (I recommend 16 GB running Windows 11)
- Power adapter is quite short compared to other laptop chargers, but it works.
- 128 GB internal hard drive (It's fast but if you are doing light gaming You really need an small USB external hard drive to install your games, movies, etc.
- Windows 10 Home S MODE (IN THIS MODE YOU CAN'T INSTALL ANY PROGRAMS OUTSIDE MICROSOFT STORE!) If you have the expertise to turn off S mode it is ok, then but it is still a hassle. If it was just straight Windows 10 Home, it would have been great.
Overall, not bad if you can get this laptop for $300 or less! Catch it during a good sale and you can add fast USB-C SSD hard drive and extra RAM. Personally, all I added was 2 TB USB-C SSD. 16 GB RAM is recommended but so far it runs fine with 8 GB RAM, but you will need to eventually upgrade the RAM.

Shockingly fast for a very low powered device. RAM is upgradable. If you don't want to pay a lot but want office/browser type tasks to move quickly, this will do the job well.

Got this recently on the last day of the $249.99 (!wow) sale, so I got Geek Squad too. I could not sign out of S mode, they gave me a free appt. the next day to bring in, he went into it via MS's website (not through the official store on Win11 like I did) and it worked right away.
I had brought my unopened 16GB ram stick in just in case, the service had been so good I gave them $40 to put it in (quickly!) for me for 24GB total. Thank goodness for BB's old fashioned real (physical) store!
The CPU seems plenty fast enough for me even on Best power efficiency.
I like the full HD resolution more than I thought I would. The speakers give clear voices, volume is not loud but good enough for me, and music with my headphones was so good I had to turn on my somewhat expense home stereo speakers on to make sure they sounded okay in comparison.

Enough performance and very portable! Battery lasts in 3 hours, but i3-1215u gives a very effective work ability for all kind of software.

I bought because i needed an affordable and easy to handle a f that delivered. The fan noise is loud and the keypad sometimes turned the numbers on but it's nothing that it can't be easily fixed

This computer is plenty fast for basic web browsing, videos, and typing. It has exceeded my expectations based on how much I paid for it. Seems well thought out and has one long hinge instead of the normal two. One of the hinges on my old laptop broke off. This design seems to minimize the likelihood of that. Screen is basic and is not touch screen. The Screen resolution is also on the older side, but this laptop so far is everything I need. This laptop also has a privacy shutter for the camera. The quality is to be expected at this price point, but it works and is reliable. Battery life is about 4.5 hours. My star ratings are based on what you are getting for the price.

Runs fast for an i3. Works great if you buy on sale. I would recommend pushing the RAM from 8GB to 16GBs for better performance.

So, don't believe everything you read in PCWorld. Performance and construction are on par or marginally better than expected for the price. Sound system is average at best; I use an external BT speaker for enhanced sound. Case is attractive, but very prone to showing fingerprints. Battery life is terrible. Stay close to the wall outlet if you plan on using this notebook for more than a 2-3 hours. Something about this laptop seems to resist successful installation of Linux, which is really why I bought it. Wireless card from MediaTek may not be recognized by Linux distros, even with recent kernel versions. I replaced with an Intel based card--problem solved. (I wanted to use it as a test machine for Linux distros.) Still working on that. This notebook is easy to upgrade. Bottom cover pops off easily after removal of 10 screws. Have already upgraded storage to 500GB and memory to 24GB. Cost was still under $300 with those new parts. If you are sticking with Windows, you won't have to replace the wireless card as I did. All in all, this notebook is pretty nice after the improvements, but you will definitely want to do the upgrades. Even then, the battery life will still be a bummer.

Computer was great out of the box, handled all tasks that I needed with no issue. I did upgrade the 8 GB of RAM that is included by adding a 16 GB course air vengeance 3200 ram module which increase the ram to 24 GB which is the maximum for this particular laptop, and I also upgraded the 128 GB hard drive to a 1 TB crucial hard drive. The ram just helps because I personally tend to run many apps at once, and since I make high-def videos I need more internal storage space hence the upgraded ssd drive. Nice to see the laptop that has easily upgraded ram for the novice laptop owner, same with the SSD upgradeability. Many laptops either don't give the option to upgrade or make it where you almost need to be a computer technician to be able to get to the components, props to Asus for allowing us easy access to change these.

Great laptop for those needing something affordable, fast (I rate the speed an 8.5/10) and small yet big. My only negative review is like everyone else-- battery life sucks. But if you keep your charger on you, you'll be perfectly fine!

For the black Friday sale price, it's an amazing deal. i3-1215u slightly beats that outdated Ryzen 5 7530u(Zen 2) they keep using in most $500 laptops. the 8GB/128GB is definitely too low for a 2024 laptop but for $12 for another 8GB 3200mhz DDR4 stick and $30 for a decent gen 3 512GB SSD it's unbeatable . The two complaints would be battery(somehow 4hrs on balanced) and TN non IPS screen. But for the price I paid for a fast 16GB 512GB laptop really can't complain.

Great cheap, light computer that can tackle most common people's task even with the original specs. However I put 16 GBs of RAM more so now it has 24 and replaced the SSD by crucial 500 GB. Looks cheap but really practical and runs well. Things to improve but that if don't bother you, there is no issue at all. Screen not that bright, looks cheap and music sounds terrible. Bottom line if you get it in a good deal like I did ~$200 dollars, more than recommended with Intel 12th generation processor which means it has efficiency cores therefore the battery is not great but OK if you choose the right power mode.

Pretty solid machine for basic tasks like O365, internet browsing, and streaming- especially for the low $200 range. Anything beyond that, even basic gaming, is going to be noticeably slow and choppy, and the fan is going to be pegged at 100%. Even under normal circumstances the fan is running but you can easily adjust the fan settings in the ASUS control panel. One interesting thing I've been noticing is that this is the only device that brings my Google Home mesh network to a crawl while it's trying to connect to a website for the first time after coming out of sleep mode. The laptop's WIFI card is noted as being a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 Wireless LAN Card and I'm connected to my network's 5Ghz band.

This laptop is good for the price that I paid. I got it on sale for about $200. It works perfectly fine and can even play some low performance games. The only negative I have to say about this laptop is the screen. It is very dim (even with the brightness jacked up) and just seems to be pretty low quality compared to others I've used in the past. If this is just something you are going to use for note taking or answering emails, it's a good choice.

Computer works great for every day uses. I am working mom and college student. I need something affordable but reliable and up to date . The only feature I shouldve paid more attention to was the backlight keyboard. The description say it does not coming with one and I did know realize how important that feature is. If the lights are on in my house I cant see my keyboard. I Bought a light that pulls in to my laptop and everything else is great

A very good computer that is also easy to use for children and students with little technology background. My daughter with special needs loves this laptop! The laptop is not too heavy to carry and the size of the screen is perfect even for a person with some vision problems.
