Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.im really sad that i’m not enjoying this laptop given how much i paid for it and all the good reviews i saw. i was really excited rip. im currently using it for school and the sound was extremely low before i had to download an app to even view videos on it which is weird just like make the sound normal before you put the product out ? also i feel like there’s something wrong with my touchpad. im literally scared to touch it half the time because i’m paranoid it’s going to highlight everything i just typed and delete it because it likes doing that for some reason. it also likes moving tabs around. and the mouse thing will hardly move occasionally and i can assure you the touchpad is clean. idk id give it a higher rating if i had these problems and it was cheaper but like bruh this was $800. i’ve used a few other laptops (that were cheaper) and i’ve never had this issue so yeah slightly irritated. i’d say i’m happy it has an i7 at least but that just means i’m stuck with it longer

The audio quality or volume level of the internal speakers is decent. If the volume level is low, please check the Volume Control properties and verify if the volume level was set to the correct listening level. Also, ensure Windows and the audio driver are up to date. However, for better listening pleasure, we recommend using a headset or an external speaker system.
The touchpad is a smart device, if this is your first experience with this kind of touchpad, please allow some time to get use to the multi-touch function of the pad. In order to improve the touchpad responsiveness and stability, please install all recommended WINDOWS Update and the touchpad driver that can be downloaded at the ASUS Support webpage.

Terrible laptop.

Extremely dissapointed

I have a 7 year old laptop that works perfectly fine, it was one of the cheapest options when I bought it. I felt like it was time for an upgrade to some better hardware because why not (even though I had no issues at all). I like the stats on this model, the reviews (mostly) seemed decent, and Asus seemed like a reputable brand based on some research. Well this laptop had no options at all for UEFI bios and only had Aptio setup which looks a few decades outdated. I booted up after setting up the OS and kept getting errors; it looked like the only option was to completely reinstall everything. I tried to reach out to asus support but I have no idea how that even works and I couldn't reach anybody at all, so this got returned. It is extremely dissapointing how a 7 year old laptop I bought for not even $200 brand new still works better than this.

BEWARE - COMES IN S MODE. Misrepresented

S MODE is a huge pain and I relied on the website description. I even checked all the labels to be sure it wasn't an S mode laptop. MS is now aggressively pushing this garbage with misrepresentation. I don't have time to return it across town and now have to spend the evening getting rid of that crap. STOP WITH THE S MODE!!!!!!!

We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if it as preinstalled with WINDOWS 10 S. It can easily be switched to Windows 11. To successfully switch, WINDOWS 10 S needs to be setup completely and activated online. Once this is completed, please go to Settings, Activation then click "Go to Store" and follow the wizard in order to switch the OS free.

Unbearably laggy touchpad

It's laggy, and will also randomly stop working for a good 20 secs. I've updated the drivers, I've troubleshot all the touchpad settings. Nothing fixes it. I had upgraded to Win 11 almost immediately, I don't know if that messed it up or if this is just a bad product. I'm currently struggling getting the cursor moved about this review, to fix the typos. I find myself avoiding this otherwise amazing laptop, bc I don't want to deal with the lag in the trackpad.

Horrible sound quality.

Problems with the screen

It blinks and shut down for no reason, randomly. It is so annoying for my sight, mostly working in Excel sheets. I would start a claim to change it. It happened with 2 computers already.

She has no complaints about it, and i dont either for the most part. i think the price is great as it is a touchscreen (which i learned about on this review board) and a backlit keyboard. i really wanted a 2 in 1 with a stylus, but the price for this laptop and the fact it has the latest generation i7 processor with a touchscreen was reasonable. i like the hard drive aspect as well, but i dont really understand the actual function of what stores what when you have an ssd and an hdd. that is confusing to me. the thing i dont like is that Best Buy constantly changes prices so if you buy hastily, you can come back to the same website and see a different product you liked a few days or weeks ago and will have either a lower price or a higher price. Sometimes something you wanted was out of your budget and is now in your budget and other times the thing you wanted is priced higher. it can confuse you and make you want to return the item you bought for a better option that wasnt available at the time when you bought your current product.

I haven’t even had my laptop 2 years and the battery will maybe last 3 hours of standard use. The screen brightness is absolutely terrible, so don’t expect to use it in any type of outdoor setting or under bright lights due to glare. The poor sound quality is barely audible and makes watching anything unenjoyable. The laptop is already overheating to the point of shutting down which is simply a poor quality issue due to the fan and all surrounding parts being clean and clear of any debris. All in all I could buy a $300 laptop for way better quality than what Asus has put into this laptop.
