It works well. I picked this up because of a security issue. My old router's firmware was stuck in 2010. This should have current firmware and it has a bit of a wider range.

The router perform as advertised, I programmed everything from the android app no pc need it. The app is full of features like sharing internet with guess for a program time span.

The router I had before this only delivered 45 mbps TOP. Was very pleased to find out I was getting speeds of 216 mbps when I ran the test with this router!

Router easy to configure, has PPTP VPN and OpenVPN protocols. Both server and client VPN's. WIFI is reliable and has very good range.

I've gone with linksys, belkin, and netgear. Tried each one and all had minor issues to major issues with various things. Linksys the operating software can be confusing, Belkin dropped signal occasionally and again slightly difficult operating system. The net gear couldn't handle a device streaming and a Xbox one playing at the same time. All were near the 1200 ac dual band series. We were able to basically plug and play after port forwarding the Asus. Love it and wouldn't trade it for any other brand as of yet.

When looking for an inexpensive wireless router, we always go with the ASUS RT-AC66U. The performance can't be beat for the price paid.

Good range and strong signal. Everything worked great at first but from time to the Internet cuts out randomly.
