All good overall! Esthetics are nice, Great display screen. 8GB memory/256GB SSD storage & response time are adequate for my needs. Would have liked an additional USB-A port to use both a USB mouse & USB jump drive. But you can add an expansion hub. Good product/good buy for the price.

Skating the Edge Between Luxe and Cheap

This is a pretty good laptop for school and work use, as long as you're not pushing a lot of pixels. The size is nice, fitting into a smaller messenger bag. The OLED display is bright and colorful, and leaving Windows in dark mode all day looks fabulous. It doesn't scream with 8 GB of memory, so if you can get something with 16 GB, I'd spring for that. It is a weird mix of premium finish and cheap plastic; where the lid of Zenbook and the cool barrel hinge scream quality, the plastic shell of said barrel and the plasticky keyboard deck look and feel cheap. The silver plastic around the fingerprint ID key is also not only cheap feeling, but hideous. The trackpad's ability to display calculator buttons is a neat trick, but I'm not sure that I'll end up using it. And Windows 11's default settings on this display make the OS look a bit horsey (you can fix this if your eyes can take it). It's a pretty good machine but if you can spring for something with 16 GB of memory and a more premium finish, I'd definitely do it.

It is sleek, lightweight, the battery life is amazing. I don't even think about my charger during the day. From streaming to studying. I am not at all disappointed!

I don’t know if it was just my unit but it was squeaky. This laptop is really only meant for viewing content, school, and casual browsing. The specs are good enough to handle those areas of use. If you’re buying a laptop to play games or for development or content creation, then obviously this isn’t the laptop to get. Apart from that, it has a beautiful oled display. It’s a Samsung display after all. It’s also capable of 90hz. Besides that, that’s really what you’re paying for- the display. Battery life is pretty decent. It should last you a day of regular browsing or content consumption. For the price, I’d say it’s decent.

First impressions. This laptop is absolutely amazing for the price. I got it on sale for 500 but the normal price of 750 is a fair price too. for 500 dollars you are getting a 2.8K 90Hz 400 nit screen. That is unheard of for this price. I play some light gaming. I had a Macbook and it could not even run basic games at a similar resolution with a lower Hz display, at 35-40 FPS. All this laptop has is Intel Iris Integrated Graphics. And with that, I can play league at medium high settings at the native 90 FPS for the display. This is basically a MacBook equivalent with its build and look. The keyboard is very good and also reminds me of the MacBook with the clickiness. At this point, there is absolutely no reason to by an apple laptop. you pay more for less performance. If you were stuck between sticking with an apple laptop or getting this, get this. So far I am very satisfied. A few nitpicks, The RAM and Storage is low but it is a 500 dollar laptop and for the trade off of the screen I will take it. (Baseline MacBook Air has the same storage and ram for double the price) Lastly, I hate the power button. it is clicky in a bad way and the fingerprint reader is embedded in the power button and it is not good. Again though, worth the trade off

This laptop is all around great! My purpose to buy was for college studies and school work and it gets the job done with all of its amazing features. The battery life was great as well. The keyboard is very nice including the number pad. It came in handy for classes if you had to quickly type numbers! All around a great product especially for a new college student looking for a great purchase!

Disclosure: I am a fan of Asus Zenbooks. I've had 3-4 of them over the years. This one, however, misses the mark. A lot of my concerns have already been noted by other reviewers. - Memory - 8GB is...fine, but far from ideal. I do not notice any lag or slowdowns, but Memory Utilization is always ~90% and sometimes hits 99%. - Heat and Noise - despite switching to the Whisper mode, the laptop is never fully silent. The i5 seems to run around 78-80C while just doing basic office productivity tasks. Very odd. My 10th gen i7 Zenbook is FULLY silent while just browsing and using productivity app (temps never go above 65C). So, I would say cooling is insufficient. - Microphone - all the software enhancements make it unusable. Sound crashes or is very choppy during Zoom meetings. The solution is to turn off ALL software enhancements and noise cancelling options on the microphone. After that, it's all fine - a standard microphone. - Screen is fine but it's not as groundbreaking as others suggest. For $500, sure I'll keep it. But anything above that and you have much better options. Shame on, I'm guessing BestBuy, for contracting Asus to build this with these specs (Asus is fully capable and offers 16GB models, but this BestBuy exclusive only comes with 8GB. It's the definition of planned obsolescence).

      Dear SvilenT,

Thank you for being an ASUS fan!

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if it didn't meet your expectations.

The preinstalled RAM is enough for your light, daily computing needs. With Windows 11, lots of processes and services are running in the background even if no application is running. Services or processes not beng used can be disabled in the Startup Menu to reduce memory resource utilization. Or, upgrading the RAM will allow you to multitask. Also, with processes, services and applications running in the background, the fan will continue spinning and heat will be generated. The sound being choppy during a Zoom meeting may also be related to a poor or unstable internet connection, please check if the laptop has access to an established router and it is getting an excellent signal.

Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: https://www.asus.com/us/support/Article/1135/.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

All around, this is probably the best laptop in this price range. The screen is unbeatable, and the performance is around what you'd expect. A few downsides do exist, such as somewhat poor battery life (depends on screen brightness) and occasional excessive fan noise.

Great computer! I was hesitant to buy another Asus laptop after my former ASUS laptop's battery died after only 2 years. I recently bought a Lenovo Vivobook and was livid at how bad it was. Therefore, I promptly exchanged it for the ASUS Zenbook, and was immediately relieved to reaquire an ASUS. This time, I won't leave it plugged in 24/7. That was possibly the downfall of my last ASUS.

I ordered the laptop open boxed, and it arrived looking brand new. My only complaint is that I expected the original packaging since I ordered the geek squad certified one for a few dollars more. Isnt a big deal since it included everything else that was originally in the box. The laptop itself is sleek and lightweight, and the screen looks excellent. The resolution is odd but works for a laptop screen. The SSD is also easily upgradable, just a few screws to access. Keep in mind that when reinstalling the OS, you'll want to grab drivers for the mousepad/wifi or get an ethernet adapter since this laptop lacks an ethernet port.

Nice features/value, but speaker quality issues

I bought this during the July 4th sale, and felt it was a good mix of features for the price, particularly with the 16:10 2K OLED display, 12th Gen processor, decent keyboard and trackpad, and good ports selection. The battery life is OK. The machine does run warm, but I think that is expected for this 12th Gen processor. I wish more memory could be added later to add more life to this machine, but 8GB is still very nice for casual use. But I noticed the right speaker buzzed for certain tones/frequencies when getting notifications or playing some streaming movies/music. For a laptop with such a great screen and featuring Dolby Atmos it begs to have a good speaker experience, but my kid noticed the speaker buzz right away and pointed it out to me. I took the bottom cover off looking for the source of the buzz, but I could not resolve it. I returned laptop #1. After I received laptop #2 it had the same buzz from the right speaker. I returned laptop #2. Laptop #3 sounded great, no right speaker buzz! But after 2 weeks the sound stopped playing from both speakers, windows reported some intel driver failure and factory resetting windows did not solve it. I brought laptop #3 in to Geek Squad. After they verified the audio wasn't working, laptop #3 refused to power on anymore. They gave me Laptop #4 to replace it. It also had the same buzz from right speaker issue, but it was not as bad as laptop #1 and #2. I ended up keeping laptop #4 after finding I could minimize the buzz by loosening a few bottom cover screws, but frankly it still buzzes and it bothers me that I can't not hear it. I debated giving up and getting a refund, but this laptop was still a good value for everything but the speakers. Overall the whole experience of bad right speaker sound left me frustrated and disappointed with Asus quality. I would score this laptop as a 4 or a 5 given the great features for the price. Given my hit or miss quality experience for right speaker buzz I'm rating it a 3. I did try reaching out to Asus support to see if they had a resolution, but the Asus system kept routing me back to Geek Squad. Geek Squad seemed surprised that I would give Asus 4 chances. I know others that received this laptop with perfect speakers and love it. You might too if you're lucky, or you might be unlucky like me. So if you're lucky or don't care about audio, I recommend it. But since not everyone is lucky I'm marking this as not recommended. I expect maybe 1 out of 4 people that buy this laptop will get one with good speakers.

We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you had with your speakers on multiple units. This is not the quality of service expected from ASUS. All our products do go through an intensive quality control testing process to ensure that customers get units that are in proper working condition, what you've experienced was not intentional. Have you tried updating the Intel Smart Sound Technology (ISST) audio driver. Please download and install the ISST audio driver
