The BEST 15" Laptop so far in 2019

A full video review can be found on youtube under the title: "Asus Zenbook 15 (UX533FD) - This is how you make a GREAT Screen" if you would like to watch rather than read. For those who want to read, continue forth! :) So this laptop is awesome. It's a bit expensive for the average joe ($1500 with tax) but it is priced appropriately for what you're getting and I think professionals/content creators will love it. The overall build is sturdy while the actual materials used may leave you wanting something more. It's not that it's constructed from poor materials, I just prefer an aluminum build myself. Having said that, if it was aluminum, it would probably be around the $2000 range, so there is some give and take. Overall I love the design and I think the laptop overall is gorgeous. The screen (for me) is the star of this laptop. It has a 92% screen:body ratio and Asus is using a 4-way nanoedge display and the bezels on all 4 sides of the screen appear to be of equal thickness, despite the top and bottom bezels being slightly thicker. Not having an ugly chin makes the screen look so much better and asus removed the chin altogether and relocated the branding to the top-case and it looks great as it is accented by a gold grill. One last thing on the screen: It is a matte display with a resolution of 1920x1080 and it is highly color accurate as it has 95% sRGB color accuracy as well as 69% NTSC & 73% Adobe RGB color accuracy. The web-camera is 720p and it is average. It should work well for most, but if you rely on the web-camera for work or you use it a lot, you may want to invest in an external one. IR sensors are adjacent the web-camera and allow for windows hello sign in. This is my preferred way to sign in as it is extremely quick and fairly secure. The keyboard is excellent (and in my opinion) and is the best keyboard on any laptop right now. It has proper spacing, is back-lit and has nice deep key travel. There is also a number pad too...this is not as great. It is a bit cramped in comparison to the rest of the keyboard and I found myself messing up quite a bit while using it. The trackpad is excellent as well as it is using windows precision drivers and overall it just feels really nice. It has a nice tactile click as well. No issues here. The speakers are located on the bottom of the laptop and they are utilizing harmon kardon technology. They're honestly not great and I had distortion coming from them just after a few weeks. Durability is a concern for me. They great fairly loud however as they reach a maximum of just under 80db's. Port selection is perfect as there is a usb 3.0 port and a headphone jack on the left edge. On the opposite edge there is a second usb 3.0 port, a proprietary charging port, an hdmi port, usb type-c port (non-thunderbolt) and thankfully there is a full-size SD card slot too! Specs are impressive as it has the following 5 main components: -i7-8565u processor (quad-core processor) utilizing Whiskey Lake architecture -GTX 1050 max-q GPU (2gb's of VRAM) -16gb's of RAM (Soldered on to motherboard) -512gb M.2 Solid-State Drive (upgrade-able) -8700mAhr battery In terms of power the i7 processor is impressive and is capable of professional work (video editing, after effects, photo editing, etc). In terms of benchmarks the whiskey architecture is more powerful than the previous generation (coffee lake), even when comparing this mobile cpu to a desktop-grade cpu. The GPU itself is rather anemic, but it is capable of light gaming. You should be able to get 60fps @ 1080p with indie games (pyre, inside, hades, etc). With newer AAA games (Metro: Exodus, Assassins Creed Odyssey) the gpu struggles and is nearly unplayable as it gets 15-20 fps. Older AAA games (Bioshock infinite, Wolfenstien II, Neir Automata) are more playable with frame rates in the 25-32 range. Overall it is ok, but don't buy this strictly for gaming in mind. Battery life is excellent as I got just under 9 hours at maximum brightness and just over 13 hours at minimum brightness. Recharge time (0%->100%) was 1 hour and 58 minutes. Dislikes are mainly with the top-case. It attracts oils and gets dirty quicker than your average laptop. It comes out with a quick cleaning, but it's still a slight annoyance. Secondly the top case has a LOT of flex. I am not sensitive to top case flex, but it made me take notice, so I figured it was worth mentioning in case you're sensitive to that. Overall this is an excellent laptop and is priced appropriately. It checks all the boxes you look for in a great laptop: an excellent, near bezel-less screen that has a color-accurate panel, it has an extremely impressive cpu capable of professional work, an excellent keyboard & trackpad, and the battery should last you your entire work day. The port selection is perfect as well.

The laptop is very compact for a 15 inch. The screen is great, color accurate, and bright. The battery life is great. The keyboard is fantastic. The device feels like a finished product and is worth every penny. The only downside to the device is that it doesn't support thunderbolt 3, however the usb c port does support display port.

I spent alot of time researching a laptop that fit all my needs of Capabilities, Aesthetics and performance. Ive had this Laptop for a little over a year now and theres been no sign of slowing down and no cheap parts or ware. I will say that the charging cable for the laptop sometimes loosens up from the block and I have to unplug it and replug it for the laptop to charge but its a small problem for a great laptop.

Had my eye on the HP Spectre for years, because I was so fond of the design. I was initially torn between the Zenbook and the Spectre, so I figured I would visit a store and see both in person. What the sales associate said really helped me make the choice. They don't keep a model on display of the Zenbook because it's a waste of money! People are buying these so quickly that having one in-store would just hinder the process. After I knew that, it was easy to go with the Zenbook, and I am glad that I did. - Screen is bright! My HPs have never been bright enough to use in sunlight. The Zenbook can. - Fast. I play Sims 4, Planet Zoo, and the like on this machine. Other than it getting hot, it runs well. One caveat to that is that usually I can run high graphics on Sims, but when it is plugged in/charging it will get hot and loud. So I keep it on low quality graphics while charging. - The different back-light levels for the keyboard are great! No blinding myself late at night with my keyboard. - Design. It's so sleek and beautiful. It's also lightweight and easy to carry. Thanks, ASUS! I am so pleased with this purchase.
