As computers continually become more technologically advanced it was assumed...assumed..that DVD RW would no loner be necessary. Well if that were the case why would they sell them? These are still important to store information outside of the computer proper. Sometimes you do not want to process certain programs without the change of acquiring a virus and this is just another step to keep us safe from those whose sole purpose is to sow chaos. I needed it, I used it and still do. The computer companies need to realize that older tech does not mean non essential tech. Many individuals do not want to email lengthy programs and details and DVD's are still the go to even above and beyond thumb drives. It takes very little programming and space to add these features back in Thank You

Simple USB DVD writer. One of those things you have to buy now that laptops don't come with optical drives anymore. Don't like the trend, since it forces you to either buy more hardware, or stream you videos and music. This thing works fine, it does what I need. Like reviewing a glass of water. It was wet, and slaked my thirst. I could add some exclamation points if that would help you understand my delight at this product!!! Goody! Enough. Decent price, works well.

Awesome DVR external drive that is a great addition to my computer

The drive is quiet, and its operation is simple. It's very thin.

This DVD RW drive is fast for viewing CD/DVD discs and it's writing to disc speed is good, I would recommend this purchase especially for a laptop that doesn't have one installed.

My new computer didn't have an optical drive. Since I have terrible internet and it was now tax time, I needed to use a tax software disk instead of online preparation. I also have a great many photos that are on CD's that I needed to transfer, so this was a good option, with not a great expense. It was a lot slower to use than the built-in drives that I have had in the past and actually took multiple attempts to get the software loaded completely. It is a nice, slim size so it doesn't take up much room to use. It would have been really helpful if this drive came with a little case of some sort to store it in, along with the cords. As it is, I have to put everything back in the much bigger box it came in when I'm not using the device.

I have owned several of these from different manufacturers and this one is a better product. Easy to use and excellent picture quality. Great price also.

I love this external disk drive to make my cds. It is a wonderful equipment.

Works great! Received it and immediately started burning music CDs. Its super quiet and really fast. Tramsferred it to another lap top and did the same thing, just plug and play. Great purchase

Needed an external USB DVD to play movies since my new computer does not come with a built-in player. Have watched movies and it works well.

As optical discs go by the wayside, I'm deploying computers without optical drives. Inevitably, there will be a disc that needs read about once a month. In comes this product, works perfectly for what I need, we take it to the computer that needs it, plug it in, it reads immediately and is ready to use. Also, it comes with both a standard USB 3.0 connector AND a USB type C connector, which the computers have on the front. Makes it easy for users to not have to line up the connector, as USB-c is ambidextrous. Drive is also quiet, too. Highly recommended.

Excellent product at the right price with efficient delivery

Bought it to open a cd on my computer since no one has cd drives now. Installed without a hitch. Unfortunately I don’t really have a use for it now. Good thing it wasn’t very expensive.

My new gaming machine came without a DVD player so I purchased the ASUS. Glad I did. Good value, true plug and play, and lightning fast.

Easy to use drive. Decent speed and reliability. I love that I can easily add this via USB.

The ASUS Optical drive is very easy to use, if you only intend to use it to just play DVD's & CD's. The included software which is required to write to disks is very typical of how programs are 'bundled' for the installation. The support from ASUS is all but a wall of bounce you around their website. I had some questions but never found answers.

Not as fast to start up as the built-in CDR in my old HP laptop, but it works very well otherwise. Everything's outboard now, since laptops don't include CDRs any longer.

This works great I happy with my purchase. I definitely would recommend it.
