I certainly understand your dissatisfaction with the speaker issue that you encountered. Please try booting your device into safe mode to see if there are any changes to sound. Also you want to check if your firmware is updated to the latest version https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-Max-Plus-M1/HelpDesk_BIOS/. You can delete the cache as well just in case there is corrupted data. To do this, press volume down and hold. Then press volume up and release. To get into recovery mode, power off your device. Boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding volume down and power button at the same time. Release all buttons when the ASUS zenfone logo appears. Last thing would be resetting your device back to factory settings and updating the firmware immediately. Much better than buying from carrier!

The only negatives for me are that the battery can't be user replaced and the SIM card slots only take the micro SIM cards so I had to purchase a new micro SIM card to use it as mine was a standard size SIM.

The only thing about it that annoys me is the finger scanner takes longer than my last phone to register, but other than that its a great phone and much cheaper than Galaxy's and IPhone's.

It is too easy to put into do not disturb mode. The screen resolution is great and it takes nice pictures. Speaker phone is echoy. Not a popular model. No variety in the phone case selection. Get it on a deep discount or pass.

phone was ok but had poor volume

I had phone checked by two other tec. and same problem. to return [defective] phone I had about 7 days. i would have to pay$35.00 RESTOCKING fee. I don't feel this was my fault but paid rather than have phone could not hear on??? have bought [many] things over [many] years from BEST BUY but want be buying anything else. I am 75 years old. Poor way of doing people. Charles
