I could not find a better deal for storing a large DVD/BluRay collection which is over 15 years in the making! Hint(s) if purchasing: Have plenty of floor space to work on/with. Use a good medium speed clear drying wood glue everywhere wood touches wood. Took me about 2 hours to put together. But could of done it in less if I was not also watching a movie. Do mount to wall or set some sort of heavy brick on base as this unit becomes very top heavy and easy to tip over if not wall mounted. You can mount two back to back to create a sturdy storage floor standing unit, but leave room to bend over to get to lower disc's.

Holds a lot of media and takes up very little room

Found this on sale and it was just what I was looking for--lots of storage and doesn't take up much room. Construction was easy enough. I did it by myself in a little over an hour. The only difficult part was screwing the back into place. I could have used some help with that. One of the cams attaching the top & bottom broke but it's still very sturdy. Most of the construction issues from the other reviews (flimsy parts, no extra screws) can pretty easily be avoided by simply being careful and taking your time. When the unit is full it's very sturdy. I didn't have a drill handy to attach the wall mounts so I just shimmed the base before I filled it and that seems to have done the trick. I have to use both hands to pull the top away from the wall. It also works well for paperback books.

    Great media stand for collectors

Bought this to clear up space in my house and keep more of my movies in one place. This was easy to put together by myself with a basic cordless screwdriver and lots of patience. Most of the holes were predrilled out well and did not have any missing or damaged hardware. Needed a hand from my friend to get the backing on correctly, it was just easier to have a second person hold it in place while the first few screws got set in place. Overall it looks great, the wall anchor kit is a must if you plan on loading this up. I anchored to my wall no problem and the brackets are not distracting and come in a black finish. Loaded it up with over 500 DVD's and bluray's and it looks really sweet fully stocked. Yes the middle section is only big enough for CD's, a few DVD's on the side or some small steelbooks if you have them. This thing holds 500+ DVD's legit so if that's what you want this is what you need.

I have had this for about 2 years. It holds a lot of media. I have it full of video games and movies. It did take a little longer to put together, but it has held up well. For $99.99 it seems like it was a good deal. I think some of the reviewers had caviar expections on a tuna fish budget. I would buy another one of these without hesitation if I needed more storage space. Only problem I had was the it fell over while I was putting the top half of the shelf together, so little assistance when putting it against the wall would be a good idea.

I got two of these cabinets at the same time. The instructions are decent but putting it together is a pain. Its not very sturdy standing alone, you need more than one person to help hold it up. Putting the backing on was the worst with all the tiny screws they gave you. Once mounted to the wall it was worth the headache. Fits tons of movies and looks good as well. If you don't mind the struggle and pain of putting it together it's a great buy.

Great stand, but there are different versions

I wanted to consolidate my media storage situation at our house. So, after some very careful consideration, I chose this product. I purchased one tower at my local best buy, and set it up that night. The build went surprisingly well, and I had no issues. Assembly took about an hour (most of the time being installing the back panels). The stand is great, very slick looking, and feels sturdy enough once fully assembled. One review I had previously read mentioned one of the non-adjustable shelves is tall enough only for CDs. For the stand I purchased, this shelf was in the middle of the tower. However, as I soon came to find out, not all versions of this model are the same. Let me elaborate: My media storage needs warranted a purchase of a second stand. I purchased another stand from another local best buy (closer to my work) and when I got it home and started unpacking it, I immediately noticed some differences. The wood had a different texture (my original stand had fake woodgrain in the black wood pieces, the second stand was just flat, smooth black wood), the hardware set was different, the pieces were slightly different (the shelves of the original stand were slightly thicker), and the instructions were different. Worst of all, the CD only shelf of this model was on the top shelf, while my original stand's was in the middle. If you were to put these two stands next to each other, the shelves then would not line up, which, if you are OCD like I am, this would be infuriating.Thankfully, I did not completely destroy the package and was able to put everything back nicely, and was able to exchange the tower for a new one, only to get it home to realize the third stand was the same as the second. After some investigation, the model I originally purchased had a copyright date of 2013 on the instruction manual (which I had saved), while the third tower had a copyright date of 2011 on it. Both items have the same Manufacturer model number, and the same best buy SKU. Buyer beware: if you are looking to purchase two (or more) of these towers and care about consistency, make sure the packages have the same copyright date on them (by the time I had purchased the second tower, I had already disposed of the original package, and the package of the third tower had a copyright of 2010, though I had saved the instructions of the original tower, and compared the manuals) - alternatively, you can make sure that the instructions have them same copyright date/are the same. Thankfully again, I was able to repackage this item and intend to try and find the "2013" stand at one of my local best buys to exchange.

A great stand - holds a lot, but move carefully.

Love this multimedia stand, except for the smaller/shorter center shelf that seems to be the only shelf fitted for CDs (and/or knick-knacks). Odd, that it's the only “lower” shelf for CDs, when I only wanted to use it for Blu-rays & DVDs. Not the smartest design choice, but I worked around it by laying down a few seasonal box sets there that wouldn't fit standing up, and some movie décor to spice it up. I read half good, half bad reviews on this. On a positive note, I will say that this is semi-easy to put together (much easier/quicker with a screw gun), and even easier with 2 people. Moreover, I found no need to secure it to the wall with the screw mounts, as it leans snugly back against the wall, especially once the weight of your games and/or DVDs are in it. Not that flimsy at all when left standing (though I wouldn’t recommend yanking movies/games off of it too hard if they're packed in tightly). On the downside, when moving/sliding the entire shelf to where it’s going permanently, the only flimsy part of this is where the top half of the shelves connects to the bottom half -- we had to move it very, very carefully to where it’s going to stay. The two halves are only connected by wooden pegs and those horrible cam locks that you screw in (which I hoped caught when tightened on the 1st try). So, once assembled, it must be moved very carefully, as the top half feels like it wants to come loose & tumble over. I’d have given this multimedia stand 5 stars easily if not for that. Even so, it looks terrific, & holds lots of media for collectors. I recommend.

I think this is a great shelf for the price. It holds a ton of movies and games and is thin and sleek. I would definitely mount this shelf to the wall for safety. When it's not mounted, I think it is kind of flimsy.

First off, this is a great media tower when completed. I do not understand the lower reviews written about it on here. It holds A LOT of media! It is difficult to put together alone so a partner is necessary, especially for the final back piece and be careful to not screw the screws through the particle board. It did almost fall on top of me putting the back piece on! Other than the assembly, I am so pleased with the final product that I will be purchasing another one!

This cabinet is great! I love it! Now that I have this, I have a lot more room in my condo, since it can hold my dvd & blu ray collection, gaming and much more! Its capacity is amazing. Now I can get rid of the bulky cabinets I used before. I recommend it, its definitely worth the price and my time assembling it! While I was assembling it I had to be very careful but its definitely doable and great now I'm a happy camper. =]

When you have like 300 movies, there aren't many shelving units that aren't 1) too expensive or 2) space-saving, and this worked out great! It's so narrow that it doesn't seem to take up much space at all - just hugs the wall great! And with the wall anchors, it's totally secure. It took a little time to put together and 2 people is definitely helpful to help move it around and connect everything. But we probably put it together in less than an hour. For less than $100 - it was a fantastic deal! I'm considering a second one for other things - maybe even shorter books and video games! If you don't have enough movies, it's great to hold knick-knacks and leave lots of room for expansion! :)

I was really surprised when I actually received two of these how nice they really were because of all the negitive reviews. I would suggest two people to assemble them, but they went together very well and pretty quickley. I had a friend come by after to look at them and he went online to order two for his house while he was at my house! What do prople expect for $90? Have they ever shopped for wood? I built one from SCRAP wood that I bought 15 years ago that is as big as this and it cost me $100 just for the wood!! I have also assembled book cases and such that come like this and they were 10x harder to assemble. I recomend!

I have purchased DVD storage from Best Buy before, but I didn't remember the brand or the price, so I searched - thought I had it, went and bought it. GREAT PRICE GREAT LARGE AMOUNT OF STORAGE - but we were using it for ADJUSTABLE shelving for a collection and not DVD's. Started to put it together and we realized IMMEDIATELY that the plan was not going to work. Lucky for me, the other one was there to fill the hole. So we continued with the useless instructions (there is lots white space that could be filled up with words like - BE CAREFULL, TOOLS YOU WILL NEED etc) and stumbled through in about an hour or so - MUST HAVE TWO PEOPLE. If you try to put it together with only one - you will have kindling. Use glue and patience and it will go together, but it is not going to be sturdy enough to move a lot. DESCRIPTION needs to be more clear that this is NON ADJUSTABLE SHELVING.

I guess for the money not to bad of a product as for the assembly....bring a drill to the plate. It is cheaply made but if you take your time and use 2 people to lift from the middle you should be ok. I did not and mine broke in half. Went to Lowes and bought some L brackets and I was back on track. You will need on for the very top of the unit. I don't know why they have them for the side only. Cheap but does store a lot of DVD's which is why I purchased it. It will be a thrown away when we move if that tells you anything.

I bought this shelf about 5 months ago. It seemed great at the time. While it does hold a lot of DVDs, the quality is very bad. The shelf does not sit flat on the ground and the wood splintered as we were assembling it. My husband and I assembled it exactly as instructed with the materials provided. Now, 5 months later, the top half of the shelf has come crashing down, not once, BUT TWICE! After the first collapse, I put it back together with stronger screws, but it didn't matter. It collapsed once more, breaking two lamps and my hand in the process. I absolutely WOUND NOT recommend this shelf to anyone. I guess that's what you get for buying a product made out of particle board.

    A Major Disappointment as a Blu-Ray Collector

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

To begin, I am a cinephile who takes great pride in my Blu-Ray collection for its expansive versatility. But it got to a point this year where I need to keep them stored on one tower. As a birthday gift to myself back in April, I bought the Elite Media Tower and figured "problem solved." When first assembling this tower, I should have realized there was going to be a problem when I saw one of the boards had a big crack in it, but I thought nothing of it at the time. When it was finally assembled a week later, I started putting my movies on there and, once I started getting to the top shelves, that's when it decided to start leaning. In the five months I've owned this, it's honestly caused nothing but grief and disappointment as nothing will even out the weight ratio (it's gotten to the point where the pegs and screws holding the two halves together are starting to bust out) and a number of my Blu-Rays fall off the shelves on practically a daily basis at this point. I agree wholeheartedly with a number of reviews on here stating that Atlantic Inc. should have used sturdier materials because the quality of them as is really brings the whole product down a great deal. That's the biggest surprise as Atlantic's media towers are usually very reliable. To cut a long story short: if you intend to buy a media tower, proceed with caution wth the Elite Media Tower.

    Good but not great

I was looking for something like this: holds a lot of media and that does not break the bank (or my pocket). As usual, when things are cheap I lower my expectatives so this did not come as a dissapointment. The material are very cheap and they may break on you easily if you are not careful. For me is OK because it's a temporal solution and I don't wanna spend 200+ bucs for a piece of furniture that holds half as many DVD's. If you are looking for a nice looking and high end unit, this is not for you. If you are practical and want something cheap and temporal, go for it.

Not A Bad Deal Or Product

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I read so many reviews on this stand and took heed to the criticism, but I actually needed that particular stand because I was hitting the 1,000 CD mark. I have two adjustable stands, but I only needed one and the other adjustable stand I used to put DVDs on. A lot of the criticism on the assembly is accurate, but you have to read the directions numerous times and double check afterward to make sure. The problem with the instructions on this product as well as others,is that it's too vague and it's a illustration -not a photograph. If it was a actual picture pointing out the steps in detail (B/W or color) assembling would had been easier. It nearly took me 5 hours to assemble it,but it's wasn't bad. The tricky part is putting the two pieces together because I had to stand it up and use the cam locks to hold it in place. If you're good at reading between the lines with instructions and have the proper tools, technique, skills and patience there shouldn't be no problem putting it together. When it comes to assembling this stand, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
