Fun product but takes a little practice

I used this with my kids (ages 6 and 7) to create and learn about 3D shapes. It does take some practice to get the hang of using it, but we were able to successfully build multiple 3D shapes and then compare them. I suggest watching the "getting started" videos on their website to make sure you know the best way to use it before you get started so that you don't waste ink (it's easy to go through the ink quickly). And yes, the ink is a little sticky, but once it's in the light and sets, it shouldn't really be sticky anymore. Overall, I thought this was a fun product and my kids loved it, so we'll definitely be buying more ink in order to keep practicing and creating.

Bought this for my 12 year old grand daughter who found it very difficult to use and create anything. I didn't realize when I purchased it that you have to squeeze the body of the pen to force the plastic out. It was quite difficult for me and contributes to the inability to have a steady hand needed for control in creating a shape. It is essentially a useless novelty as it is and requires further refinement to have any value.

It was initially difficult to wrap our minds around drawing in 3D, but this Atmosflare Pen is a supercool product! As a parent, I love that it's not just a toy. This pen is a great way to challenge kids (or yourself) to think outside the box and get creative. As a homeschool parent, I found that it can also be a great tool for geometry, STEM, science, and more. I wasn't expecting it to be useful in several areas, but I've been pleasantly surprised. That said, I recommend being mindful of the age suggestions for the AtmosFlare 3D Pen. My son is a few years younger than the suggested usage age and is able to enjoy it, but it's not something he can use alone. That's not a bad thing, but the product is definitely better suited to teens and adults - just as the box suggests. I also recommend watching the instruction videos on AtmosFlare's website. They were a great help to us! *I received a complimentary AtmosFlare Pen for review, but was not required to write a positive review.

    Creative Tool!

We were intrigued by a craft tool that promises "drawing in thin air" and my sons (13 and 15) truly enjoy using this innovative tool! The AtmosFlare 3D capabilities are awesome, but there is definitely a trick to it. First, you really have to think about what you’re going to draw. Because you’re drawing something that’s going to actually build upon itself, you have to really consider your strategy beforehand. You can’t just scribble something in the air and expect it to come out the way you want it. It's kind of like sculpting with a tube of toothpaste or a hot glue gun – though AtmosFlare ink hardens with light and you end up with a finished product. Changing the refill colors isn’t difficult, but because the designs build on themselves, it can be kind of a pain in the neck to change the refill color to add a spot of yellow to something red and then to change it back again to finish the piece. This is all the more reason it pays to plan ahead on your design. Once you have the hang of it, though, the possibilities are endless. As boys tend to, my sons make a lot of 3D vehicles but also enjoyed writing words and creating animals and architectural shapes. Overall, a fascinating tool that encourages creative thinking. Best suited for older children and teens.

    Innovative and Fun!

The AtmosFlare 3D Drawing Pen is definitely different than things we are used to (in a good way). The AtmosFlare3D drawing offers a tangible object when you're finished drawing which is awesome for the kids. I recommend watching videos for tips and tricks on the brands website to get the results. My kids love it and while there is a slight learning curve, it's definitely worth it to keep trying! Also, if you're looking for a way to make homework fun think about the ways you can use the AtmosFlare 3D Drawing Pen to your advantage. If your kids are working on shapes, you can have them draw the shapes, especially 3D ones!! We definitely recommend (we have 3) to adults and kids too. Just be sure to read the instructions and watch the videos Atmosflare 3D provides!!

    Stretches Whole Family's Creativity

STRETCHES OUR WHOLE FAMILY'S CREATIVITY. The AtmosFlare 3D pen literally adds another dimension to my family’s creativity. Before jumping into a project you have to think for a minute. Do I make the wheels first or the body? Should I “draw” it from the bottom up or from the front to the back? Adding a third dimension forces us to do some creative problem solving instead of relying on our usual habits. ENHANCES SCHOOL LESSONS. I love to pull out the AtmosFlare 3d pen to reinforce concept being taught in school, such as 2D & 3D, drawing different parts of a plant and even shaking up our spelling practice. TIPS: Go back over your creation with the UV light once it is complete or put it out in direct sunlight. This will help your creation cure completely in no time. Don't draw on a surface that is bright white. The AtmosFlare 3D Pen is a fun little gadget. It takes some practice to make smooth lines and sturdy connections, but learning is half the fun. AtmosFlare's website offers some helpful videos to help you get started and I recommend taking a few minutes to watch them before diving in. But in no time you’ll be “drawing” unique figures and creations in three dimensions. ------------------------ Disclosure: I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. Unique creative tool

My daughter enjoyed experimenting with the 3D drawing technique. It takes some initial practice, but she was able to create a 3D art structure. I think this works best for older children and teens who are interested in engineering or have artistic talent and who have the patience to stick with it. I recommend having extra ink on hand for your projects as the cartridges are small. This is a fun and relatively inexpensive way to try 3D drawing.

    Affordable 3-D Pen

*I received this product for free in exchange for an unbiased review. I was not required to post a positive review.* This handy little 3D drawing pen can literally draw and sculpt in mid-air. Super cool! As with most art techniques, there is definitely a learning curve to 3D drawing. With practice, though, the possibilities are virtually limitless. A few tips: 1. Always work on dark paper. Light paper reflects UV light on the pen and causes the ink to harden too quickly. 2. Remember that the ink will NOT air-dry. It must be exposed to UV light in order to cure. If a project isn't completely cured by the UV light on the pen, set it in direct sunlight until it is hardened. Easy! Great item for older kids and teens!

Fun Art Tool for Children (and Adults!)

We used the AtmosFlare 3D Drawing Pen as part of our homeschool art studies and the kids loved it! There was a learning curve, but they stuck with it and were making 3D sculptures in no time. The ink *is* a bit sticky, so make sure you don't use it directly on a table or desk - just put a piece of paper or cardboard down before you begin. If more than one child will be using it, stock up on extra ink cartridges! I was given a sample of the product for an unbiased review.

I have been using this with my older kids. We made a lot of neat creations with it! It may be a little challenging to get the hang of at first, but it is so much fun once you do! I only wish the ink cartridges lasted a little longer.

*I received a complimentary pen to faciitate my review. All opinions are mine. * While the pen took a little getting used to, once we got the hang of it, my tech-loving kids fell head over heels and begged for replacement "ink." Being able to draw in 3-dimensions is a blast, and the AtmosFlare 3-D Pen makes it easy to learn. Like one reviewer said, the ink can be sticky, but that's only if you don't cure it properly. Make sure you hit it sufficiently with the light, and the stickiness will go away. Overall, I think this is a great product, at a reasonable price, and a wonderful entry into 3-D art and design.

    Fun for the Entire Family

I received a free pen in exchange for my honest review We had a wonderful time creating sculptures with this pen. It took a few minutes to get the hang of drawing and waiting for the ink to harden before moving on. All the kids from my 6yo daughter to my 18 yo son enjoyed drawing with the pen. The ink is sticky, so I don't recommend drawing directly on a table. Put a piece of paper or cardboard down first. My family found that black construction paper gave us the best result as white paper reflects light into the tip and clogs it.

    3D Art made Super Fun!

*I received this product for free in exchange for an unbiased review. I was not required to post a positive review.* This pen has been one of my kids most talked about and favorite art projects we have done this year! It challenged them to think about what they could design and how to design it. With this pen we were able to create art without boundaries. I do recommend watching the videos so you will know exactly how to use your pen. The pen was not hard to use and we loved it. All of my children were gathered around watching the pen in action. They ask to use this pen a lot, we just need to order refill cartridges. I do suggest ordering refill cartridges when you first purchase your pen so you have plenty of ink for your projects.
