Top Of The Line... A Little Shifty

There are many reviews listed that I'd wager either haven't actually used the cable or may not be particular enough to appreciate subtlety. Ironic to their points, they’re spending without a foundation. I will say, the packaging leaves much to be desired... The greatest difference for Dragon is the audio. The picture is improved as well, about as good as I've seen for an hdmi so far, with one caveat. The caveat in my experience is that the visuals can sometimes feel somewhat veiled and softer than expected. Sometimes I felt as if I had to take the image holistically rather than my preferred detail analyzed approach. I have yet to understand why as an A/B with the next overall best imo, being Thunderbird, shows improvement in contrast and sharpness...Hmm, perhaps the sharpness is improved enough to where you feel you should get even more? Vodka felt similar, better than Cinnamon & Carbon but let's say…shifty in presentation. Moving scenes were less clear, clarity in general just felt veiled… At any rate, the greatest jump felt to me was with Thunderbird, especially regarding clarity but Dragon is undoubtably more improved overall. What shines most outside of the overall audio improvement is the close-up parts of a film/presentation. Faces in the right circumstances can evoke a wow factor, light reflections and other coveted minute detail aspects can break through at times. Though, non-close-ups sometimes feel as if a focus filter is applied, when I want to detail peep the whole image. I like to consume the most information possible from each moment but sometimes it feels holistically speed up or too soft to take in every moment. It’s peculiar... in movement or a wide shot, the improvement is not felt as much if not worse than other models. If coming from another higher-end Audioquest Hdmi, I’d say set expectations for greater contrast, sharpness and sound, not so much clarity. Additionally, expect brightness to pop. My OLED is calibrated to reference yet the whites coming from things like lights or the like can almost be interpreted as noisy for a given scene.

I recently purchased this premium HDMI cable, and while it is on the pricier side, it delivers exceptional performance. The build quality is top-notch, with sturdy connectors and durable materials that feel built to last. The picture quality is crystal clear, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in both resolution and color depth compared to cheaper alternatives.
The cable also supports high-speed data transfer, making it perfect for 4K streaming and gaming without any lag or signal loss. If you’re looking for a reliable HDMI cable and are willing to spend a bit more, this one is worth the investment.
Pros:
• Excellent build quality
• Flawless 4K and HDR performance
• No signal drops
Cons:
• Pricey compared to standard options
Overall, a great buy for those who value high-quality audiovisual experiences.

Im a retired engineer and while my main source of study was computer engineering, there was no escaping the cross over between audio/video tech and what you would call "pc" tech. Its all under the same umbrella. When was the last time you had to buy a sound card for your computer? A long long time ago, because its all incorporated into your motherboard. Anyone who tells you to spend almost $5,000 dollars on a hdmi cable is a dishonest, creep who is just trying to get all the money they can out of people we would consider to be "rich or well off". While non of us really care what rich people spend their money on, its the principle of the matter. I would challenge bestbuy or any company selling a "so called 8k-10k 48gbs cable" for $5000 to put 3 of the same tvs aide by side all calibrated the same with one using the $5000 cable, and the others using any highspeed cable, even the free cable that comes with the new xbox seriss x, or any $10 cable that is HDMI 2.1 certified. I know, i dont even need to guess , that even some of the best eyed audiophile will have a hard time distinguishing the difference between the $10 cable and the $5000 cable.

I have evaluated the performance of Audioquest’s higher bandwidth HDMI cables starting with the Carbon model. I was so completely blown away by the elevated improvements that it makes to video and audio that I became extremely curious what the models above it could do. I tried the Vodka, then the Thunderbird, and found that both are better than the Carbon, especially the Thunderbird. I would even say that if you want to go above the Carbon, skip the Vodka and go straight for the Thunderbird. More bang for the buck.
Now, I finally had an opportunity to use the Dragon HDMI to see how a top of the line HDMI would compare to the less expensive models. I used it with an Apple TV 4K and a Panasonic 4K disc player. I really didn’t know what to expect and I’m always skeptical, but I gotta say that the end result was extremely impressive. Picture quality is absolutely top notch, whether you’re streaming or watching blu-ray or 4K discs. There is an amazing balance of all the attributes that define the displayed image. I’ve watched everything from 4K BBC nature programs, to new and old films and shows, live action and animated, just so I could analyze the differences. I was never disappointed.
But the visuals aren’t the only thing that benefit from the Dragon. Audio was taken to a whole new level. The sound mixes for everything I watched were far superior to any of the other HDMI cables that I’ve used. The detail and dynamics are heavenly. I use my Apple TV to listen to live performances and DJ mixes on Youtube and I stream music as well. All of it sounded amazing.
If you want the very best and you can afford it, don’t hesitate to try out the Audioquest Dragon HDMI. I’m definitely keeping the one I got!

If you’re smart like 99% of us humans you will need this HDMI cable with your purchase of an ultra high end ~90” 8k(-10k?) sony/lg/samsung/(hisense) TV! Best part is that the price of both these jewels is right around the same. Oh yeah i forgot to say those TV’s themselves also come with an ultra high speed HDMI cable(capable of same speeds) LFG! Thanks for the very informative video Best Buy. Explained a lot of cap. :) <3

I already suspected that this would make a noticeable difference, but this cable made a dramatic difference in sound quality right out of the box. Over the years, I’ve done enough audio system cable upgrades to know that this effect changes with the duration of use as the cable breaks in. In my system this cable is being used as an I2S cable connecting a PS Audio SACD transport to a Holo Audio May KTE DAC. The previous cable was one of the approximately $40 HDMI cables from Amazon. Simply using the I2S interface was itself revolutionary to the listening experience, but with this cable, one can instantly hear more detail retrieval, and even a little bit more bass.
On the negative side, right now, less than two hours out of the box, there are some unfortunate moments in which this cable can make the music shrill and unpleasant, but I expect that from a brand new silver cable, and will give it a few hundred hours to burn in before deciding on final judgment.

This cable does improve the picture. I have experimented with several cables and there is a significant difference between the cables that come with the tv and this cable. However, please keep in mind that the quality will match the equipment. If you have a less than 8k tv set, this cable will not improve the picture. My suggestion is to only invest in this cable if you have high quality equipment already.

This cable turned my 10 years old tv to a modern 8k oled 120hz tv. The only negative I can find is that it some how increased the size of the tv to 100 inch. Now it looks too big for my living room. 4 stars. Def worth every penny.

Bought a pair of these for when the Beyoncé , swift movies start streaming at home !! A few years ago I started an internship with the local shoplifting organization. After a little while I was able to afford to purchase some tickets to both Beyoncé and swifts concert.
Upon leaving these concerts, and spending most of my check I received on the first, on merchandise. I learned of the movie’s release’s for these 2 world changing people, and thought nothing can bring these to more to life at home , than this HDMI cable!!!
I had no choice but to apply for the Best Buy card. After 2 excruciating weeks, I was finally approved with a low introductory rate of 28.99%. I bought 2 of these, one for upstairs bedroom, other for living room. Quality is amazing, can’t wait for these movies to start streaming! I’m glad I can start putting my money to things that make a difference in society. I highly recommend these so you can be a part of society too…. Great purchase …Merica!!!!!

Holy cow! Let me just say - This cable will rock your world! I remembered vividly the day I bought it my wife was 7 months pregnant as we moved into our new home. Next thing you know - She was expecting. While I didn't have any money to pay for the delivery of my unborn - I sold the baby to buy a new cable for my bedroom. Needless to say, my life is a lot better with two HDMI cables and a divorcee.

The point of standardization is so that all products that meet specification XYZ will perform at an expected level. If a cable is certified for HDMI 2.1, and isn't defective, it will work just as well as every other HDMI 2.1 cable. This goes for all digital forms of data transfer. Audioquest probably has a point when it comes to audio, but having 10+ tiers of an hdmi cable which all do the exact same thing is laughable. And even if they're right, and this cable never ever lets a bit flip, HDMI 2.1 maxes out at 48gb/s. Will you notice one pixel being a slightly different color for 1/60th or 1/120th of a second? Audioquest's non-analog cables are a joke.

I can't believe the difference this cable makes. I was skeptical at first, but when I plugged it into my 1975 Curtis Mathes console television, it suddenly was able to display in full 10k quality. How did I connect it - you may ask? Since this TV doesn't have an HDMI connector, I unscrewed the back panel by about 1/4" and placed the end of the cable just barely inside. Somehow this cable made all the right connections and made my TV perform better than ever - which I would expect after paying nearly $4,500. However, I dinged it down to one star since I didn't see any mention of CEC capability.
Seriously though - don't buy this cable. There are far cheaper cables out there that can transmit ones and zeros just as well as this one. Does it need to have need to have absolute zero interference and silver conductors? No, any fairly decent cable can transmit a signal well enough for the receiver to interpret the correct data pattern. I really dinged it down to one star due to it's exorbitant price.
