Installation was fairly easy. Easy to use. Works with existing deadbolt lock and key.

This lock makes your home feel futuristic. So easy to install. Even the most unhandy person can do this. It uses your existing lock so all you add is a plate that allows the August lock to turn and lock using your phone, your existing key, or manually from the inside of your home. You can check from your phone if the lock is locked. You can unlock and lock from your phone anywhere you are. Everyone who sees this lock thinks it is so cool. And it is!!!

installing was fairly easy and quick. The only thing I have a problem with is that it says that it is locked and the deadbolt has not engaged and locked the door and it has a problem with syncing and I have had to calibrate it a couple times. But we overall like the lock and the security that I can see it is still locked (when we know someone has not come in and out)

This lock is perfect if you rent the place where you live because you won’t need to replace the existing lock mechanism. You just need to make a quick change on the inside and let the August do its thing. Your landlord can still use the same key he already has, and you’ll have a smart lock that can be easily uninstalled when you leave the place! It works as a charm every time!

This thing just works. I like how you can install it in minutes and since there is no outside sign you have it, people just think you have an ordinary deadbolt (which I guess you do in a way). Being able to pull up to the house and have it unlock as i'm walking up to the door is awesome and saves time. plus being able to hand out access to people as needed is a great feature if out of town.

A bit pricey in the world of smart locks, but we wanted a specific look with our door hardware and the exterior keypads didn’t fit the look we were going for

An easy to install smartlock with no need to replace your existing deadbolt. Installation and instruction guides were easy to follow and immediately got the smartlock working. Love the feature of auto unlocking when you're returning home with no need to fumble with your house keys to unlock the door. I even got it to work with my Google Home Mini. Very pleased with the product!

This is my second August smart lock and I couldn’t be more pleased. It is easy to install and easy to use. You know when the door is open or locked. You can let workers and guests in from anywhere in the world. When paired with a smart doorbell, there is nothing else you need to control access to your front door. It’s a little pricey but i think it is worth the price.

This is a great lock for apartment dwellers. it install on the inside, does not change the key or the outside, and is easily removed if/when you leave. (Remember to save your original knob). Easy install, app is simple to use. Especially like the auto lock and geofenced auto unlock - door always opens as you approach, great when your arms are full. Highly recommended.

I have to say, the packaging of this product is superb, for whatever that's worth. I'm still trying to figure out what I can use the nifty box for. The lock and door sensor was fairly easy to install, but not without some issues. The instructions are decent and it didn't require any special tools. The first issue that I had was that the lock had problems engaging and, to a lesser extent, disengaging. I came to realize that I had been pulling my door when turning my key or pushing it when using the knob. So for the August lock to work I had to modify my door frame and strike plates a bit. The other issue was connectivity: I had to find the perfect place to plug in the hub so it had good proximity to the lock and also wifi. Day to day the lock works fairly well. I was a bit surprised at the feel of it when turning it manually: I expected more of a ball-bearing, smooth feel, instead it sort of feels like a sand-filled gear. Now, the Achilles heal of most smart home products: the app. I like the part of the app that shows the status of my lock and door, and the fact that I can lock/unlock it with just a tap. I love the auto-unlock feature, when it works. I would say that about 9 out of 10 times it works well. It's those moments when I'm standing at my door after a long day at work deciding whether I should dig in my pockets for my phone or my keys that I just shake my head and sigh, much the same way I do those times that Alexa doesn't want to turn on my TV. The bigger issues I have with the app is flexibility of control. I can set the lock to autolock after I close the door or x minutes of being unlocked, but that's the extent of it. What I really would like to do is say, lock the door after x minutes when I'm home and lock automatically when I'm away. Considering the app already has location permissions on my phone this can't be too hard. Finally, there's the Alexa-integration. There are two Alexa skills: August Smart Home and August Home. August Home can list locks and check their status, but having to say "Alexa, tell August to lock the front door" is cumbersome. August Smart Home is better in that you simply say "Alexa, lock the front door". Why these couldn't be combined into one app is beyond me. Overall, I'm happy with the product, but I hope that August updates the app to allow for more flexible scheduling.

The lock is great. You can use it to open doors when you are away or give access to someone by inviting them to the app. I have not yet had any problems with it

I compared this smart lock to the Nest Lock because I have the Nest Thermostat and Nest Smoke and CO2 detectors. I thought it would be easier to have one app. But the August Smart Lock had better features and since it works with Alexa and Siri, I haven't had to open the app since I set it up. Make sure it fits your door. It is big and I had to remove and replace molding.

I think lock will be great for my application. It’s a little early to say but I’m a little concerned about battery life. All in all pleased at this time.

Installs easily, and I like that it works with my existing exterior lock (no keypad on my front door). Installed easily with an existing Kwikset Smartkey deadbolt, and connects flawlessly to my echo. The August app works well, and makes it easy to share access with others. The only negative is the size, which takes a while to get used to.

Does everything I'd hoped. I have a horrible memory and travel a lot so its nice being able to open/close remotely and also check to make sure its locked or just set a timer to autolock. Also, paired through HomeKit to Auto Unlock when I get home which is nice when returning with groceries.

The only reason I give this a 4 is the fact it isn’t the prettiest thing on the planet, but I don’t get the negative reviews as this thing works just great for me. Granted I don’t use any of the auto lock and unlock features, but that’s not what I bought it for. Works with Alexa, but a little strange compared to other things as you have to ask her to have August perform a particular function. Not a big deal to me. It works great via Bluetooth and thru the hub for remote access. I would recommend.

This is the first smart lock that I own and the install for it was quick and easy. The setup in the app for me and my family was also effortless and the settings I can customize for each one is just what I wanted. I love that I can check when the door is opened and that I don't have to worry about finding my house key to get in anymore.

Great smart lock. Installation is straight forward and simples. Connectivity is great and operation so easy you will forget how you used to unlock the door without it. Comparing it with the other smart locks this one does not require you to change the inteire lock, only the interior knob. Worth every penny.
