I've wanted a project ever since dealing with the behemoths with the big noisy heat fans and giant bulbs back in the 90s and early 2000s. I've watched them get smaller and stronger every year. I even bought myself one a few years ago that was the size of those old dictionaries we had in elementary school - it was sub-par at best.
Finally, a few months ago, as I was doing my usual scrolling through deals at 1am, I stumbled across this projector. I don't know what caught my eye. Maybe it was the "pocket size" branding, or the fact that it was totally wireless, or just the funky shape. Something told me I should give it a try. I had just finished a side project so I had a little cash burning a hole in my wallet.
It took a couple of weeks to arrive, but when it did, I was so excited to try it that I didn't even wait to get home. Sitting at my desk at work, I opened the box and pulled out the simple contents: the projector, a cable, and a small user manual. It doesn't lie when it says it's ultra-portable. It literally fits in the palm of my hand, and it weighs less than my big phone when I put a case on it.
Being the stubborn ex-IT guy that I am, I didn't think I needed the manual, so I tossed that back in the box. The projector was straightforward to unpack and set up. Literally, unfold it, press one button, and I was in business!
After a few failed attempts, I peeked at the manual and figured out how to get it to display my computer (hint: literally just "screen mirror" - at least from my Macbook Pro). I then figured out I could do the same from my iPhone. Within minutes, I had connected and disconnected from various devices, each time easier than the last. I was very impressed with how it handled the different connections, easily switching from one to the next.
Going through the menu options, I was a bit overwhelmed - there's a LOT it can do and control! I got busy halfway through them, so I didn't get to see them all, but I'm definitely impressed with the features this tiny projector comes with out of the box. I have yet to try this on a big, bare wall (or ceiling!) in a dark room to see how well this can show my movies, but I'm confident it will dazzle.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this projector and have started carrying it in my laptop bag everywhere I go. One of these days, I know there will be a life-or-death situation where the only thing that'll save the day is a projector - and I will be ready!!
