It's good, the update piece to fit phones with case was nice. If you don't mind playing on your phone, than is worth it. Light to carry around and comfortable enough to just play just about anything.

I love this if you’re new to this, I would recommend this other than the PlayStation portal because that’s gonna cost much but if you want to start I’ll recommend this cause it’s a lot cheaper even on Black Friday. It’s a very good item I would say you won’t regret this.

The backbone PlayStation edition is a great product to have as a mobile gamer. You can stream your console directly to your phone with low latency. I recommend this over the PlayStation portal because you can do more than just play PlayStation games. You wont regret buying one of these.

I liked that it's pretty portable and has charging passthrough. It is a little pricey in my opinion and one of the more annoying features is the app wants you to purchase a subscription every time it opens. The buttons are clicky and the dpad is decent. There aren't very many phone games that use it but I got it for deadcells to play on a flight and found it worked with stardew valley as well. Although pricey I kept it since it works with PlayStation remote play and with steam remote play. Great for when I want to play and someone is using the tv.

I use a Samsung Flip 3 5G. I bought the white playstation model. The phone fits perfect with extra set of adapters that come with it. Very easy to take out the original and pop in the other ones.
I use it to play off my PS5 at home in another part of the house, while im on the bus to work, or 30 miles away at work. No problems at all knock on wood. There is an odd looking button that you use to be able to connect the phone to ps remote play that took me a while to figure out. Thats it. I recommend to any Samsung flip users and or PS Remote users.

Works great and feels good, could be a little bigger or i have big hands, trying to play xbox or ps stream sucks because it doesn't come on the first page, literally have to go through my phone menu but then it works fine
Awesome sauce.

To be fair, I didn’t even give this thing a chance against the Portal. I purchased both at the same time, but I was so blown away with the quality of the Portal, and it suited my needs perfectly. The Backbone got returned the next day.
I wasn’t looking forward to having the drain on my iPhone battery while using the Backbone. I appreciate that the Portal is its own device. The Backbone may be ideal for individuals who are looking for a hyper portable gaming solution. That’s not what I was in the market for.

The Backbone One PlayStation Edition is a game-changer for on-the-go gaming, especially for PlayStation fans. Its seamless integration with the PlayStation Remote Play app means I can access my PS5 or PS4 games from anywhere, whether I’m traveling or relaxing at home. The design perfectly matches the PlayStation aesthetic, and the build quality feels premium.
What I appreciate most is how portable and easy it is to set up. Whether I’m on a flight or staying at a hotel, I can dive into my favorite games with no hassle. Beyond traveling, it’s been great for more casual moments, like playing games while hanging out with my fiancé. It keeps me in the same space without feeling disconnected, and she enjoys watching me play every now and then.
If you’re a PlayStation fan and want to take your gaming on the road or even just add some flexibility to your setup, the Backbone One is definitely worth it.

Backbone One PS Edition is and amazing device. It covers a whole bunch of game and you can literally use it anywhere you want. 4star due to having some features behind a paywall (streaming, button remapping, and some cloud games). Though this last part is not much of a deal breaker since you can access your PS, XBOX and PC games through their respective apps. The cloud service is more if you dont own a console!
Menu / button layout: it might take you a few days before you can completely get used to what button does what, but its just a regular controller with a few extra features so nothing bad to say here...
Grip: its not bad, though it could be better. For people maybe with small hands its perfect. For people with big hands (as myself) it a bit uncomfortable as the handle are slim and your hands will feel weird when holding it.
Sound: guess it depends on the devices you use. I have Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and i can tell you sometime it feels like i have full headset. Clear and heavy sounds. Guess it does support some sort of surround/ atmos audio (again depending on your device).
Charging: It does have a USB C passthrough under he right hand handle. Have read that for some people it does not charge as fast as it depletes the battery (yes it does use some of your phone's battery for certain features) but in my experience Ive found thats NOT the case.
Overall GREAT device for those looking for an alternative to a STEAMDECK, ROG ALLY, GCLOUD or ONEXFly. (yes yes i know, this is for phones and those are basically full-blown handheld PCs, but if you dont have the $ this is the way to go. )

TL;DR - Unless you get it on sale, this left more to be desired for the price. Stopped working a year into light use.
I had this controller for just about a year, I used it lightly, but I just returned it under my total membership because the left side of the controller just stopped working (a common issue with this controller apparently) I was going to get another one, but decided to go with the Gamesir G8 Galileo instead.
Overall, this was a nice enough controller, I liked how compact it was, making it very portable to take with me anywhere. It allowed me to connect to PSRemote Play fairly seamlessly, which was a bonus for me, that and I appreciated the Playstation layout (and color). It was also a big bonus to me that I could insert my phone (Samsung Galaxy s24+) into it without removing the case, which was a big plus for me.
The things that I didn't quite like was that after awhile, your hands would become fatigued from holding it. And although it would hold my phone with its case on, it always felt like my phone would slide up and down at an angle, so it never felt quite secure. That and the telescopic backing felt quite flimsy at times. The buttons and joysticks felt clicky and cheap at times, but that could just be my taste.
The subscription to backbone is not necessary, so I wouldn't waste your money on that. You should be able to play any of your games immediately after plugging in your phone.
Overall, the controller itself is nice, but for the price, it left me wanting more. I've since bought the Gamesir G8 Galileo as it's about $20 cheaper and feels sturdier and more customizable versus the Backbone. It's not quite as portable but the price difference and quality feels significantly better than it did with the Backbone. I'll do a review on the G8 after using it longer.

I works great. It fits my S24 Ultra with a case and is easy to pull off too. Controls are good overall, very similar feel to a Nintendo Switch. Though it has a better d pad. One knock is you have to pay for the touch controls mapper utility and it does not work with all apps. Otherwise it works great.

Excellent device for gaming on the go. The screen quality is sharp and vibrant, controls feel comfortable and responsive, and performance is very smooth. Setup was quick and straightforward, and it works exactly as expected. Battery life is solid for extended gaming sessions, and the build quality feels premium. Overall, a great experience and a product I would definitely recommend.

I have used it for almost two months now. It is a great game controller. Very easy to setup, plugged it in my samsung galaxy s24, detected automatically and worked nicely with my ppsspp emulator. It is much better compared to all the other phone game controllers that I have used. The buttons feel great, the sensitivity is good, seems very durable so far.

Absolutely amazing, gen one I couldn't use a case and the subscription drives me crazy but with the second gen being able to use with a case, the style of the white PlayStation addition, and the updates to the paid app... So worth the extra money spent. And it works with Genshin Impact on Android!!! A must pick up for any gamer especially mobile or cloud gamers like me!!

I did a lot of research before buying the Backbone 1. I knew that the Playstation Portal was about to come out but it was going to be $100 more. I read about the Portal's limitations and decided to buy the Backbone. The portal is harder ro find, more expenaive and you'd need a very good quality wifi connection in order to even load your game. The decision was a no brainer. I would recommend this to a friend (as a matter of fact, I did!)

Feels great and the buttons are very crisp and reactive. Feels like a brand new playstation controller. I am not playing playstation games on my phone.Just once from the google app store and they are working great.
