Customer Ratings & Reviews

Traveling for work and bought this to help kill time in the airport and hotels. Has been amazing!! The pass thru charging keeps my device fully charged. Even though I have an older phone that does get a little warm after playing a while. I’ve played for 5 hours straight without it crashing though. The compact design makes it where it fits in my crossbody bag and always easily accessible. Runs off my battery of my phone when not plugged in and means no battery swapping and always available. Would definitely recommend. They do have a subscription that allows you to tap directly into your PlayStation; Xbox; or steam account. I’ve just been using it for my Apple Games. I think if you travel, have kids or just enjoy mobile gaming this thing is a must have.

This is awesome it relies on the PlayStation app to play PlayStation five games remotely, but it works great. Don’t know how well this works. If you’re playing something competitive online there may be too much lag but for a solo game like cyberpunk 2077 or Mass Effect that I’ve used it for it works fantastic way better than using the touchscreen buttons.

Using this with my iPhone 15 Pro Max could NOT be any easier. Just download the app and you're all set. Works with my case too! I've been using this mostly for emulators like Delta and PPSSPP and it works perfectly. I wish there were a couple programmable buttons for emulation purposes but for what its trying to accomplish, it nails it.

Got the backbone for my son to enjoy and I could not find them at any store other then Best Buy I looked all across town and best buy was the only place in the entire city that had it available. Thank you Best Buy !!!

Got me hooked to cod mobile. Just not too crazy about the app. When you try to access some games through the backbone app, some games like pub g ask you to sibscride to backbones premium app and theres no way to bypass this unless you agree. But you just have to access the game through the gamea respective app and not the backbone app. Other than that, its dope. Use it on my s24 ultra while im at work

The backbone integrated well with steam link, Apple Arcade and their own app that can link to PS network. The feel of it is great, there’s seemingly no lag between user and game, and the integration is extremely simple. This will be great for flights and downtime away from home, or the convenience of handheld gaming. Would recommend

This thing is awesome. I’m able to play my PS five on the go anywhere I’m at as long as I have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Just gotta leave it in standby mode play this thing all the time the buttons aren’t the best but it’s better than not playing. It’s hard to play first person shooter, but it’s great to play sports games Not saying that you you can’t play first person shooter but it’s just tough maybe better for younger people I was able to get this for $75 on sale in store. Not sure the price now but definitely would buy again tried to link it to my Xbox, but I believe you need a separate version of the control would definitely buy again

Fits my Fold 5 with a case perfectly...Very light and portable...gamepass and any other phone games work great.

It's a nice little device. Works great with my iPhone 15plus, was able to remote play my PS5 while traveling. Only a couple minor issues keeping it from 5 stars, one is the ergonomics of it prevents much more than a half hour of playtime before your hands start getting really cramped and the 3.5mm headphone jack is a bit too small of a hole and didn't work with my audiophile style cans. I really like the service, the app collates all your game services and games into one launcher which is nice. Lastly, it worked great with the Delta app for all things retro gaming.

Got one for my boyfriend, now I want one so we can play together on trips!

Pros: Highly recommend for people who mobile game. Convenient Cons: check the size so it fits your phone fine If your using Xbox you might need to pay subscription to use it

I’ve never really been a mobile gamer before, but since i got my iPhone 15 Pro, I wanted to see what all its capable of and using the backbone makes playing games on my phone so easy. I take it with me everywhere I go, and I got remote play setup for my series x, ps5, and through steam on my gaming pc. Remote play uses about as much battery as watching videos does and with a fully charged battery bank, im ready to game wherever im at for over 12 hours.

It was amazing for the first time I used it and for dozens of I used it. But after a while the controller will develop hardware issues related to the micro bands that control inputs like you left joystick and left trigger. Other than that amazing controller and product.

The Backbone One PlayStation Edition is an absolute game changer for mobile gaming. The ergonomic design feels premium, and the buttons are responsive, mimicking the feel of a PlayStation Controller. Highly recommended for anyone wants a console like gaming experience on their phone.

I'm a gamer on game systems. This is my first time ever owning a Backbone & it's awesome. I use it on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra & see what I'm doing without having to actually touch the screen. Even though you have to pay monthly on it, I think it's worth it cause I'm hooked. I would definitely recommend the Backbone even though I have the Xbox version so you choose which one you like & I hope you enjoy it cause I know I am & still enjoy it down the road.

My husband loves this thing! Hes able to play this on his samsung galaxy s23+ & his tablet. He plays path of exile & he can do all of the things on his regular gaming system. The controls are smooth & easy to use, the buttons are comfortable & press well, no sticking.I got this for my husband for Christmas & his friends are jealous that they dont have one lol. I would definitely recommend this to any gamer or this wpuld definitely make a great guft if they dont already have one.

I bought this product for my iPhone 15 Pro Max cause I started doing more mobile gaming. I love that I can play my favorite games from Xbox Game Pass, PS5 and the Apple Store all from the convenience of my phone and thanks to the great interface the home menu for the controller it keeps all your games and everything you need in one place. The controller works fantastic, very easy to use and responsive. I highly recommend this product is a must have for every gamer.

It was something that I been wanting to buy but I used to think I wasn’t gonna use it but after I bought it I started using it really often is one of the best purchases I have at the moment.

The Sony Backbone handheld completely exceeded my expectations. The build quality feels premium, the controls are responsive, and the ergonomics make long gaming sessions surprisingly comfortable. Remote Play runs smoothly with minimal input delay, and pairing it with my phone was effortless. If you want a portable setup that feels close to a real controller, this is absolutely worth it.

The Xbox Backbone controller, while innovative in concept, has faced substantial criticism from gamers and industry analysts alike. This essay will delve into the shortcomings of the Xbox Backbone controller, examining its design flaws, ergonomic issues, and functionality concerns that have led to its unfavorable reception. Design Flaws One of the primary criticisms of the Xbox Backbone controller is its design. Unlike traditional controllers, the Backbone is an accessory that transforms a smartphone into a gaming controller. This design choice, while creative, introduces several problems. For one, it requires a smartphone to function, making it less versatile compared to standalone controllers that can be used with various gaming systems. This dependency on a specific device limits its appeal and usability. Moreover, the controller's design prioritizes form over function. The layout and button placement often feel cramped, especially when compared to the ergonomically refined designs of dedicated gaming controllers. This can result in a less comfortable gaming experience, particularly during extended play sessions. Ergonomic Issues Ergonomics is a crucial aspect of any gaming controller, as it directly impacts the user's comfort and overall experience. The Xbox Backbone controller has been criticized for its poor ergonomic design. Unlike more established controllers that are crafted to fit the contours of the human hand, the Backbone's form can lead to hand strain and discomfort. The compact nature of the controller, which aims to accommodate a smartphone, often results in a less natural grip. This can be exacerbated during long gaming sessions, where the lack of ergonomic support becomes more apparent. Additionally, the need to hold both the smartphone and the controller can lead to fatigue. Traditional controllers are designed to distribute weight evenly, whereas the Backbone's design requires gamers to manage both the weight of their phone and the controller, potentially leading to an uneven and uncomfortable gaming experience. Functionality Concerns Another significant issue with the Xbox Backbone controller is its functionality. While it boasts compatibility with various games and services, the reality of its performance has not always lived up to expectations. Connectivity issues, such as latency and connection drops, have been reported by users, which can severely impact gameplay. These issues undermine the controller's effectiveness, especially in fast-paced or competitive gaming scenarios where responsiveness is crucial. Furthermore, the Backbone controller lacks some features present in dedicated gaming controllers, such as advanced haptic feedback and customizable buttons. These omissions can be a significant drawback for gamers who are accustomed to the nuanced and responsive controls of more advanced controllers. The absence of these features can result in a less immersive and less engaging gaming experience. Conclusion In conclusion, while the Xbox Backbone controller represents an interesting attempt to merge mobile technology with gaming, it falls short in several key areas. Its design flaws, ergonomic issues, and functionality concerns highlight the challenges of creating a versatile and comfortable gaming accessory. For gamers seeking a high-quality, comfortable, and reliable controller experience, the Xbox Backbone may not be the optimal choice. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, addressing these shortcomings will be crucial for any future iterations of the Backbone controller or similar devices.
