The mic on these stopped working just outside of the return window which really stinks because I had to use my accidental/replacement insurance. For a $140 pair of earbuds that is extremely disappointing. I bought them at a discounted price around $90 and even that price is too much for these. Here are the pros and cons.
Pros:
Has a very nice punchy bass without muddy vocals.
They're comfortable and you don't feel them in your ear.
They look nice.
Cons:
- CHEAP BUILD. The wire is cheap and you can hear it. For 140 bucks at least give us a braided cable? The $20 SkullCandy buds you can find in BestBuy stores feel more expensive than this. Also it tangles like crazy. It's all made of plastic, and I've read several reviews of the connector breaking off when pulling them out of phones.
- The mic controls are bad. A single piece of flimsy plastic that you're expected to press on whichever side you want. There's no physical indication on where to do this so you have to look each time. If you accidentally press the audio controls, that side of the earbud goes out until you let go EVEN if the controls don't work with your model (unsure if this is on purpose or a sign of the bad pair I got).
- THE SOUND. Not impressive at all for the cost. Go look at some video reviews - there will often be a $50-60 alternative that sounds better. The bass is great, but the highs are very tinny and ruin some songs completely for me. If you're in a windy environment, you can HEAR the wind going through your earbuds because of the holes on the back of the bud. I guess this is def a no-go for runners and anyone who listens to music outside of bass/pop.
- Mic only works with iOS products. Game on a PC? Get a different pair. It MIGHT decide to work with an Android.
I only got these because of a raving newsletter review and a recommendation from a Best Buy cashier. He said he had his for 3 years and he loves them. I figured ok if they're apparently one of the best earbuds of 2020 (according to this site) and this guy had em for so long I'll give it a shot. WRONG. The sound was disappointing and the lifespan was even more-so. I take really good care of my earbuds and they were kind of bad out of the box, but I couldn't exchange them quickly due to COVID-19. It's possible I had a faulty pair, but even then the reviews from people who don't get paid to review them are almost always negative...
I'm currently back to my 1-More quadcore earbuds that I got from BestBuy. They didn't last long either (1 year), but they sound amazing. If you have any recommendations for me that are more durable and sound just as great let me know.
