Barry Lyndon stands as a challenging film, not to mention a blow to cinematic convention in all the best ways from one of the great American filmmakers, Stanley Kubrick. Barry Lyndon was and is a soft, lavishly lit film that on occasion obscures detail in misty light and shadows. It is because of Warner Brother's video transfer Barry Lyndon has never looked better! Even though it has NO special features of any sort, it's definitely worth picking up!

One of Stanley Kubrick's underrated masterpieces in form and composition. That being said I'd wait for the Criterion edition in October.

The Rise and Fall of Barry Lyndon

Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon is a cinematic masterpiece. Every single shot in the almost 3 hour film looks like a painting from the time period that shameless social climber Redmond Barry dwelled in. The film is slow-paced, which can throw many people off. But those with the persistence to finish it will find that the wait was well worth it. Barry Lyndon is a film that has not been paralleled since. The extras are lacking in that only a trailer is included. While it is in high definition, it does not make up for the lack of other extras. Still, this is a purchase that I definitely recommend.
