Was not a bad movie. A little violent for children. A different interpretation of the Doomsday monster. Also how Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman met.

I prefer Marvel movies as they seem to flow better but what’s not to like about Gal Godot?
She is terrific in the role of Wonder Woman.

I do have to concede an argument made by the haters - the plot was convoluted, but for those that don't read the comics. Let's start with the premise BvS, a story taken from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, although the reason the two characters fight each other is due to different circumstances; The mother boxes, Darkseid, and parademons story from Justice League Origin; Superman going bad - Injustice: Gods Among Us; Batman has a "dark" history - The Death of Jason Todd; Doomsday - The Death of Superman; Wonder Woman's adaptation as a demigod - First Blood. Come on! What is there not to like?
In this movie, they are clearly laying the ground to tell multiple stories for all the top DC characters. After I watched the Ultimate Cut, a lot of the plotholes that were present in the theatrical release were answered. The Ultimate Cut also made it more of a cohesive story.
This version of Batman is the one some fans have always hoped to see. At some point there has to be a breaking point for Bruce Wayne and this movie demonstrated the extremes that this character could be pushed.
I did not understand what the writers were trying to convey on the scene that ended the fight between Batman and Superman. It was puzzling. Also, I did not like Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex Luthor. They also portrayed Superman as careless. Why would he allow the government to take possession of the Zod's body and his ship?
If you are going to watch/purchase this movie, I strongly suggest that you stick to the Ultimate Cut and avoid the theatrical release.

The extra material is the extended edition helps the movie make a lot more sense. Although the post-apocalyptic Batman dream is still nonsense.

The Version That Should Have Been in Theaters

The Ultimate Edition of BvS features enough additional footage that it tied together a couple plot points much better than the theatrical version that aired. Heck, Warner Bros shouldn't have included the theatrical version. Then again it was probably their idea to cut up the film into the theatrical version in the first place, but I digress...
Blu Ray is the way to go for a film like this. The extras are nice, and its worth mentioning if you have not seen this movie - Batman's scenes alone are worth it.
My rating isn't based on the movie, but the quality of the Blu-Ray package, AV quality, and the extras. The only reason I knocked off a star is because for reasons beyond me, Warner Bros still uses Ultra Violet as their digital video storage locker. It is a terrible and clunky service that makes watching the movie on your mobile devices or even chromecasting a coin toss. It's been like this since 2013 - nearly three years ago - so expect the same level of mediocracy from Ultra Violet going forward. The smart move would have been to do what what other studios offer such as Universal - CHOICE. Blu Rays from Universal offer UV, Google Play, and iTunes. That way the customer can use their service of choice, and more than likely choose one that lies upon millions of dollars of infrastructure investments.
Long story short, its a great movie and a great Blu Ray package. Don't get this only because it has a digital copy because through Ultra Violet it might not work out.

A Clear Improvement in Every Way

FYI: This is a manufactured-on-demand title, which means that you will receive the item a few weeks (at least that's how long it took for me) to receive the title after it's been made.
If I'm being honest, the majority of people buying this will be those that like the movie to begin with, so I will focus on the A/V presentation instead. Per Zack Snyder's intentions, the color is much more pleasing and closer to what was seen in the theater versus the original 4K disc. And it is nice to have the IMAX aspect ratio restored for about 25 minutes of the film, which not only gives you a bit more to look at in the frame but also presents an incredibly clear picture versus the rest of the movie, which is quite grainy. The Dolby Atmos track is the same as before, and is still very good.
Lastly, the cover of this release is world's better than the previous photoshopped monstrosity of the original release. If you're an artwork fan like I am, this alone should play a big part in buying this version.

Great 4K picture

I bought this, along with X-Men: Apocalypse, and Suicide Squad to test out my new 4K TV.
I have a Samsung 60" 4K TV, a Samsung 4K Blu-ray player, and a Samsung soundbar.
I was impressed with the picture quality, although, I must admit, I was looking forward to more. Guess I'm just spoiled. Don't get me wrong: the picture is darned great, and the sound was sweet.
I was just wasn't as wowed as I thought I would be. I liked all of the movies in the theater, so, I was looking to be wowed by the picture in 4K at home.
I don't like the dark lighting of many of the superhero type movies too much; the lighting hides the beautiful picture. I realize the darkness also can hide the special effects. However, the Avengers: Age of Ultron didn't suffer because of the bright lighting.
That having been said, the picture still was great.
I wasn't, at first, sold on Ben Affleck as the Batman, but, he did an adequate job.
The story was pretty good, not great. Lex Luthor wasn't done right, in my opinion. He was too frenetic, not the cool, cold calculating Lex I am used to. However, the movie overall was pretty good. Looking forward to the next installment, I think it will be Wonder Woman. Her part in this was good and well done.
Overall, I would recommend this in 4K, for the totality of the reasons I mentioned: the picture, sound, plus the movie itself. The price at Best Buy was the lowest I found anywhere, as well ($19.99, I think), at the time.

I went into Batman v Superman with low expectations, and I hit the mark with that one. While I found the movie marginally enjoyable, the theatrical edition is exceptionally confusing to anyone who isn't a comic book nerd, like I am. As far as I can tell the movie borrows inspirations from several different sources, including some of the most revered comics of all time, like "The Dark Knight Returns", which is arguably the main source, at least for the first two acts, as well as "The Death of Superman", which is arguably the main source for the final act. Other sources that I believe to have influences on the story are "Injustice" (a video game series turned comic books), "Flashpoint", and "Justice League: War" (an animated movie). And that's cool that it draws from the vast history of DC Comics, but it was so sloppily put together and so confusing that I'm only 75% sure I'm right. I had to explain the entire meaning of EVERYTHING to my friends and family, because it was so bad. With that in mind, the extended edition fills in the plot and explains a lot of holes, as well as giving the story, well, a story. It went from a 2 1/2 star movie to a 4 star movie, so if you want to watch the movie as intended, buy this version. Also, it includes cool extra bits hinting at a future plot revolving around the Mother Box, Darkseid, Parademons, and Steppenwolf, so all pretty cool.

I really liked the movie and watched it a few times. Now, I understand why some people don't like the movie, I get it. For some people maybe they found the dream-like alternate reality sequences confusing or they didn't like the overall story, whatever. Initially for me that would be how Lex Luther is portrayed...by the whiny sounding Jesse Eisenberg. His ticks and mannerisms with the "mmm" sounds kind of reminds me of someone with a case of mild tourettes syndrome. Which is definitely not Lex Luther and bugged me. But after getting over that fact and watching the movie a few times his character grew on me and I got to see that his part in the story works great. He was shown to be a calculating, manipulative, cold, highly intelligent con artist. Bent on killing Superman at whatever the cost. He killed hundreds if not thousands of people in the movie, even sacrificed his own loyal secretary. So this Lex Luther is a very evil dude and a perfect villain opposite of Superman.
Most people are definitely going to disagree with me here but I liked Ben Affleck's version of an older, grittier, beefier, been around the block Batman/Bruce Wayne. More so than any other portrayal of Batman including Bale and Keaton's versions. It works great for me. I don't need a full length origin story. I like many other people know who Batman is and know his origin. So a couple minutes of seeing Maggie and Negan (Martha and Thomas Wayne) as Bruce Waynes parents being murdered in the beginning of the movie is fine with me. It sets the tone and is a quickly done origin.
Now for the bonus. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman...I originally hated her casting as Wonder Woman. I immediately thought she's way too skinny and she's only done the Fast & the Furious movies. They need to find someone more athletically built, who knows martial arts and knows how to act. Turns out I was wrong. Actually seeing her onscreen as Wonder Woman. It was a big WOW moment for me. Plus all the follow-up stories of her training, dieting to gain more muscle and the fact that she did two years in the Israeli Military including boot camp. My whole way of looking at her changed. She's perfect for the role.
Overall, Batman vs Superman is a great movie and I really look forward to seeing Justice League, Wonder Woman and all the other DC movies coming out.

This movie showcases the Holy Trinity's (Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman) first team up in the upcoming DC flicks. Almost everyone on planet earth couldn't believe that Ben Affleck would play Batman when it was announced and thought it was ridiculous and the jokes were aplenty, myself included. But let me tell you, as a huge fan of Batman nearly all my life, Affleck pulled it off! I would even go so far as to say he is the best Batman ever! And best Bruce Wayne Ever. He understands the character and brought it to this movie and I can't wait to see what he brings next! Oh and as the title suggests, ole Bats and Supes duke it out pretty good. This Blu ray gives you about 30 minutes of film that was cut out of the theatrical release and is well worth your purchase. I also really liked Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. She totally fit the part and really brought it in every way. My only gripe about the characters was the portrayal of Lex Luther. I thought he was a bit too maniacal, like he was channeling Joker, or maybe even Riddler. But I guess if he were more like the super serious and stoic Luthor that we all know, this film would've been way too intense with no comic relief. Good movie. There were mixed reviews but forget the negative ones. This is a good start for what's to come with these legendary characters tossed into one story together. Buy it. Watch it. Love it!

Enjoyed this movie. Great action and special effects. Decent story. Affleck and Cavill are good choices in their roles as Batman and Superman. Affleck was better than I expected. They could tweak Batman's costume so he doesn't appear to have a size 42" neck. I did question why Superman tells Batman that he's not there to fight, then proceeds to fight him. I think it would have been better handled to have Batman attack while Superman refuses to fight back to prove his point. Not sure I'm crazy about the casting of Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Maybe future movies will change that opinion. Now on to my biggest problem with this movie. These Hollywood directors and producers need to remember one thing. Superman is not Batman! Quite trying to make Superman dark and moody. That's Batman's shtick. Batman is the dark, while Superman is more of the light (I know, corny, but true) and with more personality Looking forward to the Justice League, but hope they put a little more warmth and personality in it than they did this movie.

Not comparing this film to "Captain America: Civil War" is almost impossible, what with 2 realist billionaires spending their fortune and time constantly saving their world and 2 idealist superheroes fighting bad guys for what they believe is right and their theatrical release times only 6 weeks apart. In virtually every way, "Civil War" outdoes "BvS", but that does not mean I left the movie unsatisfied. It did leave me wanting something more, and much of that was due to the subtle yet eye-widening last few frames of the film. But why should I be surprised? We all knew that "Justice League" is coming out next year before watching the movie.
Ben Affleck has got to be the best billionaire Bruce Wayne the silver screen has seen (arguably not the best Batman, but definitely the best rendition of the dark knight's daytime role). And yes, the Ultimate Edition of the film (the R-rated 182-minute cut) takes care of many if not all the holes of the theatrical cut of the film. The movie may have disappointed many fans, and I believe that was due to DC's obvious fast-tracking MCU's process in creating its multiple-corner universe.
As for the Blu-ray product itself, it satisfies and then some on its AV presentations and special features. A special treat I was pleasantly surprised with is that the UV digital copy included not only the theatrical edition of the film, but also the extended cut. TAKE NOTE, EVERY OTHER MOVIE STUDIO!!! I can't tell you how annoying it is to buy the extended cut of a move on Blu-ray/DVD and find that the digital copy includes the theatrical cut only.
I personally liked the cover art of Batman fighting Superman, which is why I favored buying this release of the film, not because of the 3D presentation (though not filmed in 3D, the presentation is great). However, if you have a 4K TV, get the 4K Ultra Blu-ray edition, as the film was mastered in 4K, unlike many Ultra Blu-ray releases out there. Even if you don't own an Ultra Blu-ray player yet, it does come with a standard Blu-ray (who'd thought we'd ever use the word "standard" before the word Blu-ray) so when you do upgrade, the 4K release will be waiting for you without double-dipping.
