Does Not Deserve A Bad Rep

I liked this movie; there, I said it. This movie has a bad reputation and I do not think it deserves it as much as some people want to complain about it. I do state that you really need to pay attention to the dialogue because there are numerous subtle plot points through that will either ruin the movie or not. With this noted, this movie is not like most current comic book movies where there is a mixture of drama and comedy. This movie is pretty dark, which is the reason a lot of people have complained. As previously noted, I liked this movie. I am a hardcore Batman fan and this movie finally has the Batman I have always wanted. He is not shy to slay the smackdown! Affelck did a good job as Batman as well. I am not afraid to admit it. The fight between Batman and Superman is pretty good, even though it took a while to get there. I do recommend the Director's Cut because the deleted scenes expand the story and aid those subtle dialogue plot points.

This film is a dark movie. Each character in it is borderline too dark, IMHO, but it is important to the story to understand that Batman feels powerless for the second time in his life, the first being the death of his parents. He has been driven to the edge and is in severe danger of crossing the line. This is most of the movie. Superman is a little more interesting in this than in "Man of Steel" and this movie makes that one better in many ways. If you have not seen this, I don't want to spoil the surprises for you. There are some good ones and the story, though long, is pretty powerful, so stick with it. Sticking with it is very tough on the extended cut if it is your first viewing, because it is a long movie and it takes time to get to the finale. But then it gets really good. My overall impression however, is that the film is too dark for too long, and it is a problem across DC right now. They need to dial it back... a LOT.

First let me say I enjoyed the theatrical version of BvS very much I thought there were a few things that could have been a little better( Lex Luther) but overall I enjoyed it. Now after seeing the Ultimate version I will agree with most fans that Warner Bros. should have released that version in the theaters because it does clear up a few plot holes but for me it doesn't clear up Jesse Eisenbergs performance as LL. I enjoyed Man of Steel and this was a very good follow up to begin the DC cinematic universe. I love Marvel and their formula but I also enjoy watching DC and what they are putting together. I know fanboy nation and a lot of critics have trashed this movie or what should have been but you won't get that from me. Ben Affleck did a great job and Henry Cavill held his own in scenes with Affleck, Gal Gadot was a great addition to the movie and I can't wait to see Wonder Woman in her own solo movie. Hang in their DC you're on the right path.

When I heard Ben Affleck was playing Batman, I was dissapointed but willing to wait to see his performance (anyone remember Ledger as Joker?)Before I read the reviews, I was expecting a big blockbuster. After I read the reviews, i was again disappointed that it wouldn't be any good. Wonder Woman looked great on the previews and every clip I saw online looked great. I finally rented the movie and I thought it was a great solid performance by everyone. I think Hollywood was expecting that big glitz glamour, "everything is peachy because Superman is here" type of movie. I was glad to see the darker side of their characters. I was glad to see that other things motivate the people we herald as infallible super humans. It was gritty, it was dark, it built the storyline at an even pace and got some great action scenes in. The story line took some twists and turns, but this is comic book universe, not a reality tv show (which let's face it, is seriously far from reality). So I took the story line with a grain of salt and decided to enjoy the movie's intended take on this reboot. The Wonder Woman character was incredible, Ben Affleck's performance was great and of course Henry Cavill was born to play Superman. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I rented it and watched it once, then bought it and watched it again with my wife, and this weekend I'm going to watch the extended cut. Rent it and make your own decision based on your opinion.

So I didn't hate this movie when I originally saw it in the theater but I didn't actually love it either. The extended cut made me like it that much more. I'm typically a Marvel girl and I enjoy the humor that gets thrown in those movies. DC is the anti-Marvel in that the story lines are very dark and tragic. If you are a fan of the Dark Knight trilogy or one of the other reincarnations of Superman you won't find any of that here. Ben Affleck is actually a pretty good Batman in this version. Henry Cavill does a good job as Superman once again. And Gal Gadot, though given a small role until her own feature, ROCKS as Wonder Woman. The Justice League easter eggs were really nice too and got my inner fan girl all hyped up before we even saw a Justice League trailer. Overall, this movie is a good addition to the comic cinema-verse series. Can't wait to see what DC does next. *Trying hard not to write a review without spoilers lol

First thing this steelbook is awesome. Second this movie is awesome. I don't care what these grumpy movie critics or sour fanboys & girls think this movie was fantastic yes it has its flaws but what movie doesn't I'm so sick of people not letting movies be movies now a days. The point of a movie (especially a comicbook movie) is to enjoy the fakeness about it & escape the real world think about it we are talking about a alien that wears a cape & tights & a billionaire that dresses up like bat to stop crime when all he has to do is hire an army or create one of unstoppable robots or something so that he's never in any danger but nope Bruce Wayne is more crazy than any of his villains cause he wants to run around fighting people who has guns, acid flowers, rocket umbrellas & exploding question marks... sorry about that got off subject & don't try to hit me with that it's to dark of a movie crapp when one main character loss his parents in front of him & the other whole planet blew up when he was a baby. All in all Wonder Woman was awesome & Batman was finally Batman not that non detective no real gadgets having Bruce Wayne is always a A hole in public Batman before this & yes I loved those films no salt here but BvS is awesome & I can't believe you've read this whole review wow!! PS, I am a ultimate fanboy of comics, games, anime & all things nerdy & geek'ish by the way : )

Who are they anyway? This is a kind of an Art Film superhero movie which really isnt a bad thing but I think people were expecting something less cerebral and more funny like... say... oh..... The Avengers perhaps. This is not that movie and I dont think the director ever intended it to be that. It's really its own beast and it would be a mistake to try to copy the Weadon Avengers formula which Im already getting tired of, frankly. Its LOOOOOONG, dont get me wrong but taken as a whole, if you enjoyed Man of Steel, Which has the same flavor as Batman Vs Superman, you will enjoy this. DC has always been far more somber and joyless then its long time competitor Marvel and thats just them... You want light hearted and not so serious? Go watch DC-TV on the CW... this movie will not be what you are looking for. You want something smart, clever, dark and hard driven? Dump some dark chocolate on your popcorn and have a seat.

Batman v Superman Introduces the Justice League

The plot of this fight between Batman and Superman is a bit thin in as much as it portrays a super human alien having to deal with a very human but well armed vigilante and vice versa. However, it runs on gut feelings and emotions instead of truth seeking and detective work to figure out and solve the problem. And both of the heroes are played like a cheap violin by Lex Luther to the point of nausea. All the while in the background is the emerging of the other characters of the Justice League being given in bits and pieces, except for Wonder Woman who has a good role as a second banana while stopping the fur from flying and putting some sense into the fray. This whole movie is a set up for what comes next, which are individual films of the Justice League members and their coming together as a group. It is not a prequel or a sequel to the main characters, and so enjoy the excitement and move on to what comes next.

Theatrical = Ok, Ultimate Edition = Awesome

Saw the theatrical version in the theater and was only slightly disappointed. The movie felt very unbalanced, loop-sided, and disjointed seemly to focus more on Batman/Bruce Wayne and having Superman/Clark Kent as a side character. All in all, it was an "ok" movie in my opinion upon seeing it in the theater. Upon watching the Ultimate Edition, my reaction was "Why wasn't THIS the version that was released in theaters?!" The Ultimate edition is much more balanced in terms of the characters, it shows Clark and Lois doing investigating as journalists making the final showdown between Superman and Batman have more meaning, and added scenes allow the movie to flow SO MUCH better! Every scene that was added back helped the movie seem much more rounded and everything that occurs makes so much more sense. If you have a Blu-Ray or can borrow one or have a friend that owns one, WATCH THIS VERSION! If this version had been the one that was released theatrically, it would have easily rivaled Civil War and had much better reviews. I will no longer even think of the theatrical version and will keep this version in my head from here on. Much better the second time around as the movie should have been. Superman and Batman fans will be much more pleased if they see this version and forget what they saw in the theater. "A-" rating for the Ultimate Edition in my book.

Maybe I should be embarrassed by how many copies of this movie I own, but since it's my favorite film, I'm not. My only gripe is that they did not include a standard Blu-ray in this edition because I'm not yet 4K capable. I just can't justify upgrading my receiver and TV at this time. But I've been able to watch the digital version, which is less compressed than it appears on HBO Max, where there is obvious macroblocking in the desert scenes. Unlike previous releases, this version includes the IMAX scenes of the film in the full 1.44:1 ratio, so it alternates between the 2.35:1 and the IMAX ratio. Those scenes look beautiful, and I look forward to seeing them in 4K one day. This disc also adds a Zack Snyder commentary track.

This movie has it's problems, but I think the ultimate edition fixes most of them with its extended run time. The additional screen time answers many of the questions viewers of the theatrical version had and makes the plot much easier to follow. The casting of Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was a monumental mistake, but Ben Affleck as a disgruntled, veteran batman and Henry Cavill as a superman questioning himself throughout the film were fantastic. Do not go into this expecting a Marvel movie. It is not light-hearted and lacks humor, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The Marvel movies are great at bringing superheroes on screen. DC is still working on that. I still liked Batman v Superman. I was intrigued to see why they would be in conflict with one another and how they would battle. I love Superman (he is still the BEST superhero ever), but I had never thought of how people would begin to worship him as a god or would be scared of him because he's an alien. It was also interesting to see how Batman was depicted. He was kind of a big baby, so jealous of Superman (who is totally awesome after all). They probably bit off a bit more than they could chew on this one, but I've enjoyed re-watching it. The best part was when the Batmobile was driving through concrete walls with no problem, then was demolished when it ran into Superman. GREAT moment! The other great part was Wonder Woman -- she was a fierce, undaunted warrior.

This is a wonderfully inspired Steelbook release- one that surpasses the designs of that of the Italian Release as well as from the HDZeta Release. The Domestic Release features the stunning visual posters of both Batman and Superman, the batman one starkly black and grey- while the superman release contrasted with the colors that are... actually... not present in the film. In any event, I do appreciate the art style chosen for the Steelbook, however, the idea to have it as a "Reversible Steelbook" is the only thing that is off putting. The ability to flip the steelbook one way or another leaves one of the 2 protagonists always upside down- which, knowing that does bother me more than it should. But that is merely my own personal grievances for an otherwise solid steelbook release. Oh, and in case you were wondering, there is NO difference between the "Batman Edition" and the "Superman Edition".

Product Review: I am very pleased with this blu-ray/dvd/digital combo pack. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because the dvd does not have the extended edition (blu-ray & digital come with extended edition) so I can't watch the extended on my laptop. Movie Review (No spoilers): If you plan on watching Batman vs. Superman you have to buy the extended edition! I saw it in the theatre and enjoyed it. But when I watched the full extended edition at home = "mind blown". Several key scenes were cut from the theatrical version, making it choppy and hard to follow. The extended edition does a much better job at explaining why both superheroes hate the other so much and are willing to fight a fellow good guy vigilante. Also, the extended edition shows a few key elements that were masterminded by Lex Luther (who seemed less than impressive in the theatrical version).

Most people made up their minds about this way before it came out. If you go into something wanting to hate it, you'll most likely hate it. This is different from going in with low expectations and being pleasantly surprised. This movie had some great scenes in it, and some that didn't work (as did the nearly universally praised Civil War, which I found to be plodding at many points). The same goes for the actors/characters. I enjoyed Cavill as Superman, Affleck as Batman, Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Irons as Alfred. I admit that I went in with lowered expectations for Eisenberg as Lex, and I was still disappointed in his portrayal. Much like the broad shouldered, confident Jimmy (James) Olsen on CBS/CW's Supergirl at the moment, this Lex just isn't true to the character. (I still think that Michael Rosenbaum has the best on-screen Lex.) Still, this movie gets so much more hate than it deserves. There is no way that this should be rated lower than both of the Hulk movies, both of the older Fantastic Four movies, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (which was Batman and Robin bad). Like I said in the summary, you can enjoy this movie if you allow yourself to enjoy it. If you've already made up your mind to hate it, you shouldn't even bother watching it...unless that's what you're into.

A good movie made great by the ultimate edition. The extra 30 minutes, specially the Africa scene, answer many of the questions left unanswered by the theatrical version. If you like the theatrical version you will love the ultimate edition. If you didn't like the theatrical version, this version may or may not change your mind depending what you didn't like. If you didn't like the tone or the Martha scene, this movie will not change that. If you your problem with the theatrical cut where about editing and or plot wholes, this version addresses those issues and give you a more complete story as intended by the director. Awesome action sequences, great cast, and the best version of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in movies to date. If you have any interested in these characters, give the ultimate edition a try, I think you will be happily surprice

I waited a long time for this film to actually be made, especially after seeing a Batman V Superman billboard in the background of I Am Legend. While not perfect, this film certainly does not disappoint. The characters are very well written, the plot is compelling and believable, the action and effects are top-notch and the acting is mostly solid. The biggest drawback to this film is the acting in a couple of scenes, most notably the utterance of the phrase, "You're.. letting... them.. kill.. Martha!" The audio and video quality are both excellent. When it comes to the discs, i'm absolutely baffled that they did not include the extended version on the Blu-ray, it's only on the 4K disc. One would think that both versions of the movie would be included in Blu-ray until the market becomes more saturated with 4K players and T.V.'s.

If you saw this in the theater, this version shows a bit more violence. The added footage does help fill in a few holes as well. The story itself is a bit on the dark side and you may end with a bitter taste, but, there is a tightness with very few loose ends remaining. Super-hero movies have become more dark and brooding in recent years and this one takes us further down that trail. There appears to be an opening for the future, but, who knows? If you like the violence and the dark introspective, this movie is a must-see. However, if you like a lighter story with a happy ending, you'll need to look elsewhere. I actually like both Superman and Batman, so having them both in the same movie was a big plus for me. (And then to add in Wonder Woman!) I bought this particular product to get the 3D but have not had time to view that version yet.

After seeing Wonder Woman, which I loved and saw again as a result, I was interested to see the role that she played in this film. I never previously checked out the movie because I'm not a huge Ben Affleck fan and wasn't sold on him playing Batman. One of the Magnolia sales people told me that I should watch the extended edition, if anything. He was right that it does have a lot of additional content that helps explain the story better. It also has a quite a few special features, which I enjoyed—for example, explaining the background of the characters, including their history in comics, and the design of the BatmobiIe and Batcave. I ended up really enjoying the movie and thought Ben Affleck did a serviceable job as Batman. The rest of the cast does a great job also with the often difficult task of playing iconic characters. I really enjoy the story and a lot of the action sequences. The film also has a lot of great visuals and the sounds is great on my new home theater system! I would definitely recommend checking out this movie—in particular, this edition! After watching the film, I'm more excited to see Justice League in the fall!

"BATMAN VS SUPERMAN" 3d, IS IT good OR bad? I liked it, 3D is good, but dark in spots. BUT I have not had the opportunity to watch the 3-hour version as of yet. Good price at best buy for the $ though (truth in advertising: BEST BUY). I always love my movies in 3D. Thats mainly what I purchase. Havent bought new 2015 STAR WARS, due to waiting for 3D in Fall. Anyway, Affleck surprised me as Batman. Everybody was good. Other super hero movies have been better, but this one is good. WATCH IT, BUY IT. As commercial used to say in 1970s: TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT! I will be buying more super hero movies in 3D, like SUICIDE SQUAD. 3D all the way! Thanks,BestBuy!
