Live action childhood game turned movie. The film has holes but the action and speed make up for it. If you are a fan of action movies you should like this one.

The whole premise may seem a bit goofy for the boardgame, but it's just a movie and is for entertainment which is does that. There's plenty of action in it and fun to watch. So if you like action movies then it is definitely worth the purchase. I'd try to pick it up on sale. The visual quality in UHD is great and definitely pops in HDR. This is one of but a few of my movies that has a DTS:X soundfield. It is very loud and has lots of stuff surrounding you.

I bought this movie because I do like the Navy ties to it, it's on point, even if it is battling alien ships from afar. Great action, fun movie, and the visuals are stunning. It also provides an insight into our men and women serving our country and the aftermath they face coming home. I liked how it honors our current members who may have come back disabled and shows a glimpse into their reality. But beyond these ties, it's a fun sci-fi entertaining movie to watch and great sound and visuals!

A refreshing new take on the old story of aliens invade the earth. It won't win any awards for best acting but for action lovers it will keep you happy until the end. They managed to encorporate the classic Hasbro Battleship game right into the movie, only this time it was for real and ships really blow up when they are hit! It was nice to see them bring some history into it too - by bringing in the most famous battleship of all - the USS Missouri - to save the day.

This movie is an amazing idea. It was a mind blowing non stop navy action with super advanced aliens who obviously never read the art of war. lol everything was beautifully put together and very well executed by the actors. Fun film not offensive or political. For ones lol I’m glad the beef was with the lizard aliens not with each other.

I was never a HUGE fan of this movie. Do not get me wrong, I like it just fine, but I think that this 4K release made it a lot better! The audio in this release is absolutely incredible. It is so crisp and clear you can even hear the water sloshing about during some of the minor battle scenes. Very impressed.

Not everyone was thrilled with the story line, etc., but the 4k presentation made the story line much more believable and intense. Definitively not the Hasbro game, but the analytical sequences similar to the game helped. The CG's and colors were more intense and detailed along with the excellent sound adding to the viewing pleasure.

Odd choice to make a movie based off a plastic board game but I suppose the alien inclusion was nice?

Cheesy but somewhat entertaining. My wife loves it for some reason. Brooklyn decker is easy on the eyes.

Overall Battleship has a predictable, uneventful first half, then picks it up with a good salute to WWII vets in the second. If this movie was released before Transformers and all the other Michael Bay movies of a similar style, it would have been better received. Still in the end, it isn't a bad watch. There are much worse films. Actually enjoyed it after turning off the brain. Would certainly give it another watch sometime.

ok watched the movie because there was nothing else on demand.From beginning to end i just shook my head. but it was entertaining. battle scenes were great. acting were won,t talk about.monsters and there machines were really cool.two stories on one on land which was good and one at sea. that was just funny.lots of gadgets. but in the end they ahd to use good old fashion cannons and fist.that made the movie.Rihanna needs to keep singing

Hi, I love this movie!! It reminds me of going to the matinee (Saturday/Sunday) when I was a kid. Us beating the aliens, the Cheers, the yelling, the popcorn Flying!!!! It was great!!! You can guess my age. My generation will remember this.

At first, I thought it was a Transformers clone with all of the action scenes, CGI and the requisite female lead with all looks and no acting ability. Some of that is true here, but its better than the Transformer films because it has a better director (Peter Berg) frantic, but well shot action scenes and some cool alien designs and CGI. Other than that, you get the star who Hollywood forces us to see (Thankfully better than Sam Worthington and disappeared just as fast), a fairly too-long film and an ending that they thought would lead to a franchise. It looks pretty but thats about it and only get it if its cheap and on Blu Ray. The PQ is fantastic for DVD, with nice detail, crisp imagery and nice use of colors (The Hawaii scenes in the mountains are beautiful) are all resolved in standard definition quite well and appear near HD on a HDTV. The sound is also loud and detailed and accurate and if this were 2005, demo worthy, but as on DVD, its second class to its HD cousin. The extras only included a few feauturettes and thats about it. Really only buy if its cheap and/or need a blockbuster action fest to satisfy your needs.

This is is a Sci-Fi action movie of blockbuster proportions. Is it believable? Absolutely not, but the acting is superb and the movie itself is totally awesome in every way. Been awhile since I’ve seen a work of complete fiction that will make you jump out of your chair and cheer.

This is your typical "bad boy becomes hero" type movie. I like the alien concepts of the movie. Different from your run of the mill alien movie. The use of the retired ship was a little beyond belief, but still seeing the retired old military guys show such patriotism was moving nonetheless and I'm glad they were able to kick some alien butt. This is a movie I have watched several times and enjoyed it every time.

This was supposed to be based on the battleship game but I don't remember aliens in that game. ..also there were more ships in your fleet...I did find it interesting how they used the buoys to track the aliens ships...at least the grids were kinda similar to the game...loved the movie overall just felt they fell short by comparing it to the game...would have been better if they hadnt associated the two

I love this movie! Plot wise there are questions and it may not be one of those academy award winning heavy dramas, but I just love this movie. It's fun to watch and I like the characters. I saw this when it was first out in the movie theaters and I have watched it on TV when it has been on. I stumbled on the DVD in the store for a super cheap price so bought it!! Its just a fun, escapist movie and is one of my favorites!

As an old Navy man, I especially enjoyed seeing the mothballed "obsolete" battleship and newer Navy hardware brought out to save the world, supported by some interesting battlefield tactics. Hard to take this one seriously, but I appreciated the film and will watch it again when I just want to be entertained. I also had fun spotting the references to the classic "Battleship" game.

While the movie may not garner awards for writing, and putting a few questions aside on my side that come up on the plot, it's a fun movie to sit back and enjoy in the highest possible 4K presentation. The audio is a step up from teh blu-ray version which to me was the greatest improvement that motivated the purchase.

I remember playing Battleship as a kid, and this is a film that is based on the board game. Kind of a twist on "Christopher Columbus and the natives", the story employs the familiar "bad boy becomes hero" formula to fight those bad aliens, and parts of the movie will make you want to stand up and cheer! Great fun!
