A Brilliant Concept, Undermined By Many Factors

"The Bay" is about a group of steroid-strengthened parasites that attack a town in Maryland during a Fourth of July weekend.
The good: The idea is brilliant; the cinematography is excellent, though not as well handled as films like "Cannibal Holocaust", "Paranormal Activity", "[Rec]", or "The Last Broadcast".
The bad: The acting can be far from stellar at times; the ending leaves a little to be desired; the Special Features are minimal (just a short featurette, a feature-length commentary, and a couple of trailers).
The ugly: The overall way the film was handled. If the filmmakers had been given more time and/or money, the end-result would've been very compelling. Furthermore, the director seems to enjoy standing on a soapbox an awful lot (.i.e.: Spike Lee, Al Gore, etc.).
Overall, I like this movie. As long as your expectations are relatively low, you'll enjoy it!
