BB-8 is a lot of fun. The smart phone app is easy to use. It moves well on hard floors as well as carpet.

I would recommend this BB-8 to anybody of any age. It is great. Kind of small but still so much fun.

I got BB8 as a birthday present and since I love Star Wars I was so stoked when I got my own BB8 ...it was something to get use to since you have to control him from your phone ..the price is a little pricey but it's a collectible and it was a gift so I was very thankful to get it ...All the features is done on your phone and I enjoyed playing with it but unless you enjoy and love Star Wars some might not enjoy it as much ...

Fun robot! Easy to operate. Moves well on most surfaces, even my carpet. Glad I made the purchase.

The BB8 Droid doesnt work very well on carpet. Otherwise easy to use and connect to my phone

First, let me start off by saying BB-8 is cool. I love the look, the design and the shiny finish. It is made of plastic, although appears to be very good quality. It's user friendly and you can be playing with BB-8 within minutes. The only set-up required is to charge BB-8 and download the app. What can BB-8 do? "Drive" This feature of the app lets you control BB-8 which is similar to a joystick. "Message" Record and play holographic messages. "Patrol" When you select patrol, BB-8 goes exploring on his own. Although, the holographic messages is a bit deceiving. I thought it would be like in the movie and BB-8 would project a recorded message onto the wall or what-not and play the recorded message. The message only shows up on your smartphone. It does work on an iPhone and other devices, but is still disappointing that BB-8 isn't really projecting anything. All in all fun to yet a bit pricey.

No hes no frankenstien monster if you get my title. But this is pretty much like having the real BB-8 from the movie in your house, but obviously a much smaller version. The app you have to download to your smart phone is pretty cool, but there are a few bugs that need to be improved upon. Such as navigation, he doesn't always go the direction you're telling him to via the app, and there definitely is a small learning curve to understanding the app and how it works with BB-8's features. I did find a really good video on YouTube that was about 15 mins long that helped me a lot! Also, for this caliber of a toy (if that's what you want to call it) I still think $149.00 is pretty expensive! A more appropriate price would be $99 and BB-8 is worth that all day long. But $149 plus tax is stretching it in my opinion. Still... I bought him anyway, as this is a must have for us die hard Star Wars fans!

It's very small and it doesn't make any of it's own sounds. All sounds come from your phone. It is responsive and fun to play around, but doesn't work very well on carpet. Not worth $130, but anything less than $50 is probably fair.

This is an excellent, fun, and extremely entertaining little product! It captures all the quirks, adorableness, and fun of the character from the film! Emotions, sounds, realistic movement...it's all there. One word of caution: he doesn't work that well on thick carpeting, so be sure to find plenty of wood or tile flooring space for him to roam around on before you purchase. Then...bring him to life and enjoy!

My son was dying to get this for Christmas. Even though I had read some reviews that were not that encouraging we got it for him. Christmas morning he was over the moon when open it and spent a good bit of the morning pairing with the iPad and playing with it. Since then it has hardly left the docking station. It is great for what it is. A neat little remote controlled toy that is very cute and does a couple of funny things. But that is it. If it were $50 or even $75 I would say fine. But it is simply not worth $150, period. I was almost going to see if he wanted to trade it in for some more video games but it was an Xmas gift and we didn't think that sent the right message. But, I would encourage anyone else thinking of buying this to look carefully at what it does vs. what it costs. If I could do over again I would have invested that money into a good drone. More money but more capabilities.

undecided for a christmas gift for kds. after watching star wars got interested in star wars toys. passed by bestbuy to browse available star wars themed toys..... looked at youtube videos.. ultimately decided to buy this one for the kids. ended up saving rather than buying sveral gifts. they loved it... even the dog..

My grandson received a new puppy a few days before Christmas that was being "loved" half to death. When he opened this on Christmas morning poor puppy finally got put down. Now of course the puppy is being stalked by the Droid. This was the best gift ever according to one 8 year old toy expert (and his papa).

The kids love it. Very easy to setup and use. They play with it for hours.

Bought this for my 5 year old Cousins and it worked just as I expected. We all enjoyed it as it is fun to use and easy to set up. It pairs well with the App. Cons: the head falls off easily and the 'handling' takes some time to get used to as you're manipulating the little guy via an iPad or something rather than with a controller with more tactile feedback.

My husband wanted to buy this for my 4 yr old son and i was skeptical. it's pricey for this little thing. I was afraid he might pull out the antenna and throw it. It's great if you're a star wars fan. He doesn't play it as often so we'll have to return it. It still looks great!

this toy works just like the promotional video. it's awesome, easy to control, and rolls on all sorts of different surfaces with no problems.

I purchased a BB-8 for one child and the normal Sphero for another child and while they are both fun and interactive the Sphero has many more apps and a lot more functionality. The educational and especially the programming features of the Sphero are far superior to the BB8. The BB8 you only get the one app which has limited functionality in comparison. It's super cute, and it's fun that it's Star Wars, and for a lot of people that will be enough for them. But if you want a longer lasting more versatile product buy the regular Sphero instead.

I got this during Black Friday. It comes in a very well constructed box and nestled in some foam for protection. The head is magnetically attached to the ball and the actual robot rolls around in ball. It works on hard surface floors and can struggle on plush carpet. Trying to control BB-8 with your tablet/smartphone does take some practice since you are moving a ball around with a magnet head on top. I look forward to having it react when watching Star Wars Movies. Just don't throw it. Just also be aware that the head acts like an old style mouse in that the wheels under the head will pick up dirt from the ball rolling on the floor, but it is easily cleaned.

A must for any Star Wars fan. Easy to use and really fun.

I was looking everywhere for this BB-8, I didnt hesitate when I found it! Bought it brought it home and began to play with it.....extremely fun toy or collectible. No matter the age any Star Wars fan would love one!
