Best Buy's website states that this product "offers protection from over-voltage, short circuit, and over-current for safe everyday charging." Yet on the manufacturer's website for the product, Belkin Support stated in response to a customer question, "the 3-Outlet Charging Station with 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C Ports 70W (SRZ001) is not a surge protector." https://www.belkin.com/p/3-outlet-charging-station-with-2-usb-a-and-2-usb-c-ports-70w/SRZ001tt5.html
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hi Carls. Thank you for doing the research and catching this important detail. While the product page mentions over-voltage and short-circuit protection, this refers strictly to the internal smart chips in the USB ports that safely manage everyday power delivery so your connected devices do not overheat or overload. However, this charging station does not contain surge suppression components and has no Joule rating, meaning it cannot protect your electronics from massive external power spikes caused by lightning strikes or grid failures. We sincerely apologize for the confusing wording on the retail site and are working to make this distinction clearer for future shoppers.
