Don't expect this product to last more than 6 mo

My sister and I both purchased this product. We were looking for something that would both charge and play our iPods through the Aux outputs in our vehicles. At first it may seem great however, the design of pulling the iPod in and out is pretty flimsy and broke on both hers and mine. As noted in the other review the design is super inconvenient as it takes at least 30 seconds to even get the iPod in place. With only a five minute commute to work and school, I find that I don't utilize my iPod in the car very often. Another issue we had with this device is that the cable connections not being very great. I find myself having to mess with the connection on the top of the device to get my iPod to play from all speakers in my car. I would have expected better quality from a product of this price.

    Why?

What you don't see in the pictures is that the dock has a headphone plug coming out of the back that you are supposed to plug into the jack of your iPod or iPhone -- then you run the included patch cable between the base of the Belkin unit and your car stereo. With this setup, every time you take your iPhone out or put it in, you have to find the headphone plug and disconnect or connect it to the phone. I suppose this still adds charging and a place to hold the phone, but if I wanted to mess with the headphone jack I would have just bought a patch cable for $10 and skipped this unit all together! Why they aren't grabbing the audio from the dock connector I have no idea.
