Customers value the HT3550 4K Home Theater Projector's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and effective HDR performance, resulting in a highly immersive viewing experience. The projector's contrast is also praised for enhancing image detail. While some users note the fan is audible, the positive feedback on image quality significantly outweighs this minor drawback.

Amazing picture equal to top TVs, I was blown away by the clarity and even sound before I connected my surround components. Have this ceiling mounted in basement as part of home theater to a 120” screen and it doesn’t disappoint.

We built a new home with a small media room about 10'x14' and after reviewing the throw distance of various projectors this is the one I settled on. My use was to be movie nights as well as casual gaming.
First off, the setup of this projector was so easy. Simply plugin and adjust the focus and you're ready to go! I would suggest buying a quality mount to make it easier on you. I went with a $14 mount and although it works now it wasn't the easiet to adjust.
The picture on this projector is outstanding!! I can't believe the quality of the image when viewing 4k videos. You'll def want to buy a proper screen and only use this projector in a light-controlled room though as it will fade when light enters the room.
As far as gaming, I did not notice any input lag but I am only playing things such as RDR II and GTAV. Haven't tried anything "twitchy" but I am getting too old for those quick movements anyways.
The projector is mounted above my head and although you can def hear the fan noise it doesn't bother me (which actually surprised me as I am sensitive to noises like this).
I will point out that this puts out a lot of heat so make sure you can keep your room comfortable. I am sure all projectors fall into this category though.
Also - do not put the lamp in eco modes because it will not work with dynamic iris. I had to learn the hard way!
Overall I am very happy and impressed with my first projector and not regretting this choice at all. You won't be disappointed.

Easy install like any other projector. Uses 3 mounting holes for ceiling bracket. Initial setup very easy and user friendly.
Picture quality is phenomenal! Great color, amazing blacks, and HDR is excellent.
Ensure you have a high speed newer HDMI cable supporting 4K and 3D. I’m projecting on a 120” screen and love it! The 3D is amazing!
For those that say not bright enough, they didn’t do basic research as BENQ specifically states this model HT3550 is for dark rooms and the TK800M is for room with more daylight.
My first purchase came defective as half of screen had white vertical lines. However, nobody can really know if came out of factory this way or this occurred during shipping process.
I called BENQ to see if they would exchange and all calls go to voice mail. To this day I never got a call back from them.
Still extremely happy with this purchase! Don’t hesitate to buy this model if you have a dark theater / media room.

Within 6 months the hdmi 1 port stopped working and I was lazy and didnt want to deal with sending it in. So I switched to hdmi 2. Here I am a little over 6 months later and hdmi 2 goes out. And I still owe over a 1000 dollars on a useless projector. Nice. Thanks a lot Benq.

I have never used a projector setup before but wow, the clarity and color is unmatched. I truly feel like I'm watching a movie every night no matter what I watch with this projector. It's not the brightest but at night it's absolutely perfect and any brighter would be too bright. It was very straightforward to mount and setup, I never write reviews but felt people need to know they are getting a great piece of equipment when they decide to make this purchase

I had originally purchased a PX701-4K projector due to it having low latency for gaming, and a bright 4K image, but I was not happy with it. It just felt like a budget business projector, from the user interface that looked like it was from the 90's, to a remote with no backlight. I ended up returning that projector and purchasing this BenQ HT3550, and I couldn't be happier.
The BenQ was a little bit more expensive, but it was definitely worth the price difference. The BenQ seems like a quality projector all around. The physical appearance is looks great in any room. It's not as bright as the ViewSonic, but I mostly watch in a dark room so its plenty bright, and the colors on the BenQ are far superior. Latency with gaming hasn't been an issue for me due to me mostly playing single player games, not competitive FPS. I was also able to get a larger screen due to the short throw of this projector, would highly recommend.

Recently upgraded to this projector from another Benq, HT2050. Installation was a breeze as it was just moving the mount from the old PJ to this 3550, screen and throw distance stayed the same. After a little tweaking of the settings, with help from members on FB home theater groups, the picture is fantastic. The colors really pop, and it is plenty bright enough even with the lamp in ECO mode, in my basement theater. Fan noise is a little louder than the 2050, but don't even notice it after a movie starts. For anyone wanting to get a real theater like experience with 4K, don't hesitate to grab this projector.

BenQ HT3550 4K DLP Projector

I purchased a new BenQ HT3550 4K projector to replace our12 year old BenQ PE7700 model. We ordered from the BenQ Store online and customer service reps. we're very curtious and helpful. Our order arrived as qouted and installation was relatively easy. We were able to install the new projector to our previous universal ceiling bracket but needed smaller metric mounting screws. I also needed to replace our previous 25 ft. 3 plug audio/video cable with a new 4K 2.0 HDMI cable. Following the initial start up manual, getting the picture to project properly for a ceiling mount and setting the proper zoom and focus for a 120" wall screen, we were ready to go. The picture was fantastic and so much better than our previous unit without getting into all of the fine tuning capabilities that the HT3550 has to offer. Over all, we are extremely pleased with our purchase, our price and our service from BenQ Direct. Thank you!

I did a ton of research for a new projector. There are so many choices and you can spend a mint. The reviews I read on the BenQ3550 kept coming up great so when Black Friday hit, I took the plunge. For the money, this projector is a steal. Completely happy with the picture. Would recommend using in a light controlled setting.

I've only been using this projector for a few months but have been thrilled with its performance so far. The image and contrast is great for practically everything I have watched on this.
The built in speakers are pretty impressive too, but I do have it hooked up to an actual home theater system

Have had it for a month so far, great picture quality, a bit loud but can change settings to eco mode to help with noise and lamp life. Overall happy with this purchase. If you plan to mount on the ceiling, I recommend buying Benq mount instead of trying cheaper universal options because those will likely not work.

I'm coming from the Benq w1070 projector, and at first I was thinking that there was no real difference. But after watching Aquaman I realized how good this projector really is!!! The picture takes up most of the wall/screen at about 10' away. The images are crystal clear. The action is rendered excellently. I did turn down the sharpness, but that was it. The Magnolia guys were trying to get me to buy a $3k Sony. I'm sure the picture was excellent, but I'm happy with this image and price.

Not confident with the quality. Have limited features compared to cheap projectors that you find in Amazon. If anything goes wrong with this projector i will be the most disappointed person since i spent $1200+ on this projector

When I was considering a 4k projector for the man cave I found many possible devices that would work. What I found was important was to acknowledge how much ambient light is in the room. I chose the model ht3550. The man cave is low ambient light so this one works well. Also BenQ has a 3 year mfg warrantee. best in the business.

This is the best projector I have ever owned. This is my 4th projector. I was expecting a lot from this projector and it has lived up to those expectations and then some. I have a dedicated theater room and it's perfect for this. Even with all 7 lights turned all the way up the picture is still really good. But when you dim the light this projector really comes to life. I have also tested the 3d mode and am very happy with it. It worked right way with some of my existing glasses. I have already out a couple hundred hours on this projector and have no complaints. I would highly recommend this projector to anyone looking at it.

Sharp picture and rich colors. I think it would be to inform which 3D glasses works best with certain models. The 3D works great but is seems darker than normal viewing with the glasses I purchased.

I've gone through many projectors throughout the years including Benq 1070, 2050 and most recently an Epson 5040UB. This is by far the best overall performing yet. On top of have twice as many pixels as the Epson 5040 and 5050UB (1080×4 vs Epson's 1080×2), the blacks are also not much different in real world use. It's important to note there is no industry standard or base for how manufacturers state contrast level ratios. This means a claimed contrast level of 1,000,000:1 for one manufacturer can actually have a measured contrast ratio that is less than what another manufacturers states as 10,000:1. Truth
