Beowulf revisioned

Don't be put off by the other review out there. I have seen just about every film version of Beowulf that I know exists and I think this one is the most pleasurable. Butler's acting is strong even though the Beowulf legend calls for a rather flat character. The acting by the supporting cast isn't nearly as good as Butler's, but they get the job done.
This film does not try to follow the story of Beowulf as it is traditionally told. It humanizes Grendal (notice they even added his name to the title) in a way that the epic never allows.
One criticsm I have is that not all of the shots are intended for blu-ray. In many of the darker scences, this looks SD and not up to the blu-ray standard. Still, there are some wonderful shots that are breath taking on nice equipment. Not reference material but still a neat film if you are into the subject matter.

In top 3 Worst Movies Ever

This has to be one of the worst movies I have seen in a very long time. The acting is horrible, the plot is stupid. I bought this just because I saw it had Gerard Butler and thought it might be decent, one of those unheard of movies that would be good. Well that was a mistake. I almost felt bad selling it on Amazon.

Nice to see this story told in any form. Not all of it works, but I feel it is a much better film than Robert Zemeckis' attempt. Gerard Butler does a great job. Effects are nice, and its beautifully shot!

This is definitely one that can be skipped. Beowulf was always one of my favorite works of literature, so I gave this movie a chance. However, it was a waste of money that I could not watch.
