I'm not normally a fan of Jack Black's movies, School of Rock was the best, until I saw this! It's based off a true story about a murder, I can't rave enough about this, Jack Black does creepy so well! You need to get this, it's super cheap at best buy! Go get it, then a recommend researching it, cause new stuff has happened since this movie!

Stumbled across this gem while hunting through sales at Best Buy. I'm a fan of The main actors so figured I would give it a try. It's based on a true story and after doing some research it follows the story accurately. Jack Black is incredible and his acting ability shines. There is a nice mixture of comedy and drama and this film is rather unique. Worth checking out for sure!

the movie was enjoyable and entertaining. music was good and the actors were fantastic. Jack, Mathew,Shirley were terrific with their charactor portrayals. good view of small town ruthlessness and predjudices for and against. can watch it many times over, but still feel Bernie got a lot stiffer punishment than many people way worse than him.

This is the funniest movie, in a darkly comedic way, about true events in a small Texas town. They used real towns folks in some of the roles--and they are authentic! Jack Black is such a talent, Matthey McConaughey and Shirley Maclaine are great.

Jack Black is so good in this roll, it is almost the most disturbing aspect of the movie. It does keep your attention and has it's twists.

Solid comedy that's worth a look. Jack Black plays a role completely different from what we're used to seeing from him, and it works, and there's some charm to the entire premise of the movie. It's a decent flick, but don't expect too much McConaughey. The interview style scenes featuring local citizens are my fav. parts. Richard Linklater directs. Be sure to check out Dazed and Confused and A Scanner Darkly.

This is a strange comedy starring Jack black as a mortician shows that he can play a variety of characters..

Do yourself a favor and see this movie. It's got a great cat of professional actors as well as amateur townspeople who really shine.
