This power cord is so handy because it enables you to relocate the TV or other electronics away from the wall receptacle without using an extension cord. The standard cord that came with the TV or other electronic device is easy to misplace. This cord is the ideal replacement. This 18 gauge cord is Non-Polarized. This means the side that plugs into your electronic device has 2) round edges. A Polarized power cord has one square side & one round side & will only plug in to the electronic device one way. The other end of this Non-Polarized power cord has two identical prongs that plug into the wall outlet either direction. By contrast, a Polarized power cord has one prong larger than the other, so it can only plug into the wall outlet one way. While this Non-Polarized power cord can physically plug into an electronic device that was designed for a Polarized power cord, this is not recommended because on a Polarized power cord, the larger prong is Neutral & the smaller prong is Hot; this provides grounding protection, reducing the chances of electric shock. CONCLUSION: This 12' flexible 18 gauge Non-Polarized power cord is an ideal replacement for many TVs & electronic devices & performs exactly the same as an original Non-Polarized power cord, with the added benefit of the 12' length. The Best Buy essentials - 12 ft 2-slot Non-Polarized Power Cord in black is a great standard cord to have that can be used in many different applications. It can be used with laptop bricks, gaming consoles, printers, TV’s or any other electronics device that uses this type of cord. I can think of many situations just with my laptop where I wish the power cord was longer to reach the table where I wanted to use it. This type of power cord is an industry-standard similar to how the power cord used to plug into desktop computers are. They are widely used with all kinds of electronics. They do make a similar polarized cord however that can only be plugged in one way. If you were to use this cord with one of those devices you should mark the same sides on each end to ensure proper polarity for the device. Now that I have discovered this cord I want to purchase the 12ft one designed to plug into desktop computers as well as many TV’s and other devices. This is a great accessory to have around and keep in my backpack for those times when you go to unknown places where you may need a longer cord for a device. As with all of the Best Buy branded products I feel assured that it is of good quality backed by a name that I trust at a good price. So it’s a win-win in my book.

The Best Buy essentials™ - 12 foot C7 Non-Polarized Power Cord measures about an inch over 12 feet long from end to end and is not polarized, meaning one prong is not wider than the other, which allows for easy insertion into outlets regardless of the orientation of the plug, adding to its convenience, and allows it to even fit in to those older outlets. However, make sure that this is the proper cord for your product, as it does not offer any grounding and some products, like laptop power bricks, might have the same shape, but they are too power hungry for such a thin cord. Having the 12 foot length, over the typical 3 foot or less cords, makes it so I don’t need an extension cord for my Bluetooth speaker. The Best Buy Essentials™ - 12' 2-Slot Non-Polarized Power Cord is solidly constructed, good quality power cord for anyone needing a non-keyed, symmetrically terminated - non polarized configuration. The extra-long reach is great. Comparing this Best Buy Essentials offering to OEM cords that come with various products, there is no distinguishable features or workmanship issues pointing to this as being a sub-par product. It's OEM grade! Personally, I find this 12 ft power cord to be very handy, as it works with many products in our home; wireless BT speakers; PS3, various camera battery charging docks - you name it. And again, this is a non-polarized cable which simply means it doesn't have a square (essentially "keyed") side to the component end of the terminated end of the cable. Pay close attention to the power port on your device(s) before purchasing. This cord gets a lot of use in our household and when traveling too. So handy! And this is why I can confidently give it 5 solid Stars. This is quality power cord; it can be used with many different products, and it is price right.

My house has awkwardly placed electrical outlets which often limit the placement of powered devices and gadgets. The Best Buy Essentials 12' Non-polarized Power Cord solves this issue, and its simplicity makes it ideal for low powered devices and gadgets. At 12 feet long, there is no need to worry about the close proximity to a wall socket. That extension is very long and makes it so easy to connect my devices compatible with the connector type. I tried it with two radios, a Bluetooth speaker, a charging station, and a lamp and it worked perfectly. Also, it’s a non-polarized power cord meaning that the two prongs are of equal size and can be inserted into the socket in either direction. Most devices are compatible with non-polarized connections. The main limitation with that power cord is its rating at 18 AWG. The AWG rating has to do with wire thickness; the higher the number, the thinner the wire. An 18 AWG rating means that this power cord should be used only with low-power devices such as lamps, radios, and simple charging stations. I mostly use this power cord with a 100-watt Bluetooth speaker and, even though I think I have reached the limit, it handles the long playing hours at a fairly high volume without heating up. In conclusion, the Best Buy Essentials 12' Non-polarized Power Cord is a reliable and economical tool that allows you to overcome the restrictions of electrical outlet location. It is a perfect extension for low powered devices and gadgets, and as long as you know its limitations, you won’t be disappointed.
