This is a great collect if music from a classic singer

Have a holly, jolly Christmas! It's classic yuletide corn, from the fellow who played Sam The Snowman on the "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" TV special. One of the most recognizable voices in 20th Century pop culture, old-school folkie Burl Ives recorded prolifically in the 1950s and '60s, but it's Christmas music he'll really be remembered for... This disc collects fifteen fine examples of his Decca Records holiday material, taken from a variety of sources... Most tracks feature prominent pop-orchestral arrangements, but Burl's rolling, grandfatherly tones cut right through the cheese every time & cheerfully draw you in. As old-fashioned Christmas material goes, this is pretty hard to beat.

To many of us, Burl Ives is Sam the Snowman from the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Christmas special. Truth be known, Burl was not only an accomplished folk singer, he was an Academy Award winning actor. This collection of Burl's Christmas standards is a pleasure to listen to. And of course, it includes "Holly Jolly Christmas". If you like Christmas music, you'll like this collection.

growing up, my Mom would play Christmas music during the holiday. One of my favorites was Burl Ives. when I walked into the store; there he was, right there in front of my eyes. I picked it up and never gave it a second thought whether I should buy it. I love the songs; like I said before it brought back some very good memories spending time with my family years ago.

I really like the old songs I remember from TV. Mostly Christmas shows. This CD has all the Burl Ives classics. That part is great. It also has Burl's renditions of some other well know songs. I think he has a certain sound that works great for some songs and maybe not so great for others. Still worth it to have some of those songs that bring back good memories.
