I love to listen to fun, upbeat music while driving, but it is often difficult to find a CD that pleases my ears as well as my toddler's. But that's not the case with Diane Birch's album, Bible Belt. Her album is enjoyed by both of us! She has an amazing voice and clever lyrics. Her voice reminds me of Carole King and Natalie Maines. “Ariel” and “Rewind” are two of my favorite songs, but all of the songs are great! I received this CD through the One2One Network and I must say I am very impressed. I have recommended this album to many of my friends and family members and I look forward to hearing more songs from Diane Birch in the future!

You won't be disappointed in this pick. I listened to this once and it instantly became a staple both on my ipod and in the car. Honestly, there is not one track I skip over and that's very unusual for a picky music-listener like myself. I challenge you not to tap your toe to Valentino (which my 3 year old asks for repeatedly in the car!) Other favorites are Rise Up and Fire Escape but each song on this album is catchy and memorable. The lyrics tell a story that warrants paying attention to. Her vocals are soulful, yet jazzy; smooth yet haunting.
You won't be disappointed. Enjoy.

Diane - soulful and mesmerizing

I really enjoyed this CD. The above bio describes her sound as a mix of various artists. When I heard her, I thought Carole King and Nora Jones. She definitely has the jazzy sound of Joss Stone, as well. This is music I like. Had I not been given this CD for review, I could see myself purchasing it, for my own personal collection. There is an easiness to the music. From slow mixes to uptempo tunes, you will want sit and listen to the CD in it's entirety

Nice Debut CD

I recently got the debut CD by Diane Birch. It was very well done. A couple of my favorite songs from the CD wereValentino, Photograph and Don’t Wait Up.
For a comparison of her sound, if any of you are American Idol she sort of sounds like Megan from this past season.
The songs are smooth sounding, very relaxing, while others have a nice beat to them.
For a new artist, I always am hesitant if I would like the music and I quite liked this new artist.

Although Diane Birch is only in her mid-20's, she sings with the heart of an old soul. This debut album showcases her mesmerizing voice, which has a blusy, timeless, raw, emotional, and soulful quality.
I love all the songs on this album, but my absolute favorites are:
#2 - "Valentino", which has a very strong, catchy, melody.
#4 - "Nothing but a Miracle," a not-so-typical
'relationship song' with a very mature sound.
#6 - "Rise Up", which offers a tongue-in-cheek view of religion.
#12 - "Forgiveness," a blues-inspired song that showcases Diane's incredible voice.

I didn't know if I was going to like this album. But I have to say Diane has an amazing voice and talent. It reminds me of a blues/jazz kind of music. There are a lot of slow mellow songs and some upbeat songs. I like that it has a lot of both. She does have an Alanis feel to her. But yet is very distinctive and unique.
If you are on the fence about buying this album, preview some of the songs...they speak for themselves. You won't be disappointed.

Diane Birch has a great soulful sound that takes me back to Memphis, TN and the blues. I really enjoyed the wonderful piano. I what I liked most about this cd is that every song was unique and didn't sound like the other yet the cd flowed very well into each song. I can't to share this with my husband, because even though the singer is a female she has wide appeal and I think he will enjoy it! A great, relaxing cd that is dull or redundant!

I was very surprised that I liked this album as much as I did. The songs flow together well and alternate between more upbeat to mellow. Diane has a smooth, bluesy voice that's pleasant to listen to. There is a sadness in her tone though it doesn't make her songs depressing. My favorites were Valentino and Don't Wait Up.
If you like Nora Jones, Joss Stone, Carol King, and others like that, you will most likely appreciate Diane Birch.

Listening to Diane Birch's, Bible Belt Cd is a winner. The single "Fire escape" is an amazing single. It is so haunting and melancholy. Puts you in the right mood, when you are driving down those long, winding roads that seem to go on forever. "Rewind" really makes you think about all of the things that you could have done differently, if you had been given the chance to push rewind on your life. It is really deep and moving. Her cd is reminiscent of Norah Jones. A combination of blues, jazz, and folk. You definitely have to give it a listen.

As a little girl I loved to listen to my mother's Carole King records. When I listened to this Diane Birch CD, I was instantly reminded of the great music of the 70s. Although her style reminds me of Carole King, Diane adds her own personality to this great mix of songs.Diane's rich, earthy vocals mixed with great piano accompaniment (with an occasional addition of brass) made for a great album! The lyrics were also fun and unique! She definitely makes you want to sing along. This album is a great addition to your music collection.

I have listened to it while I cooked dinner, cleaned the house and even drove to the airport to pick up a friend. I have to admit, it's got a good beat to it, a nice mix of tempos and her voice is amazing. It is kind of a cross between Norah Jones and an early Linda Ronstadt sprinkled with a little Joss Stone. Overall, a nice mix.
The songs have a calming affect and would probably be best listened to with a glass of cabernet and a good book. Although, I didn't mind the 5 o'clock traffic nearly as much while listening to the CD!

I was pleasantly suprised when I heard this cd. I am more into popish, r&b music. I never thought I would love this kind of music. I had my idea of what gospel music is (thinking church music) and this was nothing what I thought it would be from soulful to popish ballads she has a wide range vocals. I just adored Valentino and Mirror Mirror. I definately recommend people to give it a chance it will suprised you

I wasn't sure what to expect.I'm not really into jazz and blues. But, it was a great surprise. I find myself humming along while listening to her songs. The lyrics are really good and somewhat have deeper meaning coming from the heart and her experiences. Her voice is relaxing, soulful. This will be a great addition in your collection if you like this type of music.
Check it out! You will not regret it!

Birch belts a homerun in Bible Belt

Birch offers an unique sound which is similar to some other artists, but she doesn't fit into just one type or specific artist. Her voice is a melodic trip with strength and character. I loved all the tracks, and it is hard to pick a favorite. It offers tracks which make you reflect (Fire Escape); if offers tracks which make your feet move (Valentino). All thirteen tracks are well worth the listen, again and again.
New Artist with lots of talent whom I hope from which we will be hearing a lot more.

I really enjoyed this new album. I didn't know what to expect, but I have been playing it daily at my office and in the car. The music is captivating, and just different. I think she sounds a little like Norah Jone,s but she has a great voice and it is a totally fun genre of music. You need this great music, and it's just fun to push play and enjoy the songs. All of the songs are great, but I really enjoy Fire Escape and Valentino as I enjoy playing them both over and over. Enjoy!

This album by Diane Birch carries such a unique sound. It's not a sound you hear often on the radio and is a breath of fresh air. Diane's voice reminds me of Norah Jones- with a twist. And the music steers clear of the typical piano/guitar sound we hear, including a wide variety of instruments. Between the music and her voice, this album provides a fresh listening experience.

Soulful Sounds

When I first popped in the CD, I was immediately taken to a coffee shop on a lazy Sunday with my laptop or a sudoku book and she was the live entertainment. Her voice is very soothing and the music bluesy, soulful, with a hint of gospel and country...just a hint...probably why she called it Bible Belt, eh? It was the kind of music that I could work to or read to...rock in a hammock to. Background music, if you will...and that is not a negative comment.
Being a music lover, what impressed me most was that I could feel her "realness" for a lack of a better term. Her voice was real and her lyrics from the heart/soul. The music is pure. I can hear each REAL instrument and that is something that is very important to me with this kind of music. I can get down with a synthesized, digitally remastered beat every now and then but sometimes it is just really nice to hear a real piano, a real guitar, real background vocals!! She put me in the frame of mind of wonderful songstresses like Carole King, Carly Simon, and Phoebe Snow.

I had never heard this artist before listening to this cd. I was pleasantly surprised. This album is a soulful, fresh sound great for all ages. I find it to be a mixture of Dianna Krall and Patsy Cline The lyrics are very meaningful and will touch your heart as they potently relate to true life experiences we have felt or been through at some pint in our lives.

Bible Belt is a great CD for adults. I thought the music was smooth and clear. There were however, a few words on the CD that were not suitable for children. I would recommend that parents only listen to this one while the children are doing other things. Overall, I was happy with it. The songs had great lyrics, minus a few words, and it felt like it had soul.

Really enjoyed the modern vocals and presentation of jazzy, soulful blues type sound to her songs. She reminds me a lot of Nora Jones, and though I am not normally a jazz or blues fan, I really enjoyed her presentation of the genre and I think that anyone that does in enjoy Diane Krall or Nora Jones will really reall enjoy Diane Birch and her musical talent.
