This is an intimate film with a big cast, with some big name supporting players. Whoppie Goldberg gets her best role in decades and Jenna Elfman plays the town eccentric to perfection. The plot is long and complex, and the people change as the movie progresses. The cast keeps growing until you feel like you know half of the people of Big Stone Gap as friends. I have not read the book, but this movie, while primarily a comedy, also has many dramatic moments, especially towards the end. A great movie for the entire family and a great look at small town America, both the good and the not-so-good.

Ensemble cast about small town life in rural America. Movie has a love affair with this small town life A characters driven movie. If you like your action fast and furious you will be bored with this movie. If you enjoy sweet, character driven movies this is for you.

It was a great movie and the mountains are beautiful. We loved the movie because we go there on vacation every year and visit our relatives so we are familiar with all the places in the movie. The beauty of the mountains is something everyone should see.

I really loved this movie because the location is about 15 minutes from my home and touches the heart of people living in this area. I would recommend it highly. It was great!!
