Ang Lee is an amazing director........but

The performances were subdued and over eager at predictable moments and just slow over all. The film tells a true story, an interesting and worthwhile story, like they felt it needs to be explained, in detail, I mean D E T A I L. It's like the story teller is relating it to you second hand, like he really saw the importance of this story but wasn't a very good story teller. Ang Lee is a true master so I am always lost for an explanation when this happens. This was more "The Wedding Banquet" not "Sense and Sensibility." More "The Ice Storm" and not "Broke Back Mountain." I will try it again.

Looked amazing, but just because it looks good doesn't mean it's a good movie. The movie is a little confusing with the biggest issue coming from one of the characters. There is a deaf soldier in the group of soldiers being showcased but he only appears in about 3 scenes in the movie. There's a chance they were trying to portray that the deaf guy got lost in the football stadium but this still doesn't make sense because he went to the stadium in a limo with the rest, but when they left he was not in the vehicle with the rest of the soldiers. It's like the director forgot about him.

I love that this has both the 4K and 3D version of the movie on separate discs. I wish Sony had continued that with the most recent Underworld and Resident Evil. As it is, I can not get them on 3D.

This movie was okay. But you have to see the 4k on this one it looks almost 3D how clear the picture is. Color is amazing. I can't wait till more movies come out like this transfer.

The movie could have been better if the story line was more connected. The jumping back and forth was distracting, the characters were good, if you could fit them in the story line.

Technically, one of the best UHD's on the market

While many will agree it's not Ang Lee's best movie, by a long shot - Sony's encode of the movie is quite simply astonishing. For a package that includes the movie in 3D, a standard 2D bluray AND the UHD which has the feature at 60 frames per second (and it's Dolby Atmos mix, which also went out theatrically as such), but included here as an exclusive - Sony left no stone unturned. Simply, one has to buy this and include it in your library for all it's boffo bells and whistles.

It's a deeply emotional and moving film with great acting (particularly newcomer, Joe Alwyn), cinematography and an original score. The ending was strong and had me tearing up.

Movie story is great, the 4k picture and sound are awesome, but the acting is very bad. I am very surprised since there are great actors and actresses in the movie.

Not every hero that comes back from war wants to be recognized - and this film hits on that aspect. When John Basilone won the Medal of Honor in WWII, the politicians brought him back to campaign war bond sales... all John wanted was to get back to his family on the front lines. This film is a take on someone who doesn't want to be acknowledged for something that he was trained to do... the reluctant hero. Excellent watch for veterans!

I thought the story line was well done but my only complaint is that it lacked the "based on a true story" that really brings to life the hardships of war.

It's a different kind of movie. It gives you a look at war and how it affects the troops. Also how some people show lack of respect and compassion to them.

The idea of being toted around the country for actions done during one of the darkest hours of your life would be terribly difficult. Learning that the entire country cares about the heroics only, but not the unknown parts of the trauma both physical and psychological would be difficult. This movie has a great way of trying to show how war is very different than just the hero stories we see on the news.

I gave this movie 4 stars because it wasn't based on a true story. True stories that re-tell history are always better in my opinion.

This star studded cast delivers phenomenal performances in "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk". Chronicling the journey of a soldier and his squad who served time in Iraq, this action/drama boasts a sharply written script with plenty of emotional scenes that are complimented with just the right touch of light humor. A wonderful family friendly film that is sure to become a favorite.

Great film that explores what our men and women in the military go through after a tour of duty overseas. It especially focuses on post traumatic stress disorder, family, and brotherhood on the battlefield. It's NOT an action film. I would consider it to be a dramatic film that can be applied to a psychology class or a social studies classroom. Glad I bought it.
