    Fabulous Linear Game

I’m not sure why everyone else is having trouble with the game stability; it ran great for me even with everything set to maximum. (AMD Phenom II X4 940, 4GB DDR2 1066, Nvidia 9800 GT, Windows XP Pro 32-Bit) The graphics are top notch and the sound effects design was outstanding. At times, the music was painful to listen to, so I turned it down; I hate high-pitched violin. Unfortunately some of the cut scenes are dependent on the music volume being turned up. The graphics on the water really impressed me. The story is interesting and stimulating. The engine is smooth and feature packed. The weapons are creative, especially the drill, and I love the upgrade stations and the diverse ammo options. The Plasmids (special powers) have been upgraded and are very creative. Lastly, the quest pointer is 3D so it’s hard to get lost. It is linear, so you have to follow the predetermined path, but it’s kind of nice for a change though. A good sequel to a great game.

An excellent entry in an excellent series. Bioshock 1 was an excellent, complete package, which is why this game was a bit derided at release. Its shorter development (by another 2K studio rather than original creator Irrational Games) hinted at a sequel produced for reasons more financial than creative. It is a bit unnecessary, but that doesn't detract from the high quality gameplay and story. The unparalleled atmosphere from the first game returns here in great form, and the new character and the perspective it lends are a great addition to the canon. There is less to say about the gameplay, which is solid if a bit familiar, though with a few novel twists (namely your drill-related abilities). It is hard to live up to the enthralling story of the first game--and while Bioshock 2 may not quite do so, the narrative you experience (which runs parallel to parts of the first game) is intriguing in its own, more human way. I remain intentionally vague so as not to spoil what is one of the main reasons to play. If you enjoyed the gameplay and setting of the first, you'll have a great time with Bioshock 2.

    Decent Game

Although I wouldn’t say that this game is as good as BioShock 1, it’s still a good game. You start the game “10 years later” as a deactivated Big Daddy and for reasons unknown, you re-activate. You go up against the usual splicers, but you also have to take on other more advanced Big Daddies as well as the new Big Sisters (who are much faster and more agile that you are). There are several new plasmids & weapons/tools to play with (remote hacking darts being my one of my favorites). Oddly enough, I had a little lag when the settings were at maximum (almost unheard of on My rig). So basically, I wouldn’t trust the Minimum specs at all. Personally, I’d recommend a processor that’s much higher than the minimum “Pentium 4 530 3.0 GHz” (like a Quad Core for example). Even though BioShock 2 is not quite as good as BioShock 1, I would still recommend it.

Visually the game is great. If you have decent or high end video card able to see the way Rapture is ment to be seen. With the PC they should be releasing a patch to fix the Point of View for Widescreen displays (chops the display in order to make fake widescreen and cuts off side view) The game is short compared to some other games but finding all the side items helps give a better story view and understanding what was going on behind the scenes. If you are fan of the original you will like this. To be honest haven't touched the Multiplayer part yet.

Game is a continuation of the original with a whole new twist. Sound track is awsome. Graphics kick butt. I dont understand why people have problems with windows live? I dont use it. Never have. You have the option to NOT INSTALL IT. Your game will still save. Noobs, free your mind! Free your mind!

Worth the money, hopefully they will improve the multiplayer aspects to resemble what the game actually is.The overall length of the game is maybe about a lil over 60% of the First Bioshock ,Lengthy games keep a higher standard of replay ability and keep the game quality Higher than normal brand name games. I liked it a lot the story is great.

You may need to update drivers, I needed to update my video drivers to play this game without excess pixilation. Having to deal with windows live was another minor annoyance. It's a good game but it is basically the first one with new tweaks.

Good game with too many glitches

It was a fun game - once I got it to start up correctly. Took me hours to get all compatible software, updates, etc. Microsoft Live has tons of compatibility issues and the game crashed numerous times during gameplay and while trying to load the game. Not too mention losing saved games. Basically overall its a fun game with a good storyline but the software issues really detracted from the overall experience.

    Mandatory Games for Windows

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

You must sign into Games for Windows otherwise it won't let you save the game - which I learned the hard way. Basically, you have to give up privacy to play the game - not mentioned on the box. I'm one of the few people who doesn't like playing online with anyone. And I don't like giving away money (my privacy is worth money to many vendors) for free either. So the whole Games for Windows is just another level of copy protection to me, which I really don't like. In the end, the game is just like the first one, so its not that great. Its not that "new".

Improves some gameplay from original. Unfortunately the story is not as strong and it is shorter than the original. Still very fun to play.

Multiplayer is a blast, I myself not the fastest gun in the west being a 30's gamer my speed slows down due to never getting to play (well life getting in the way of a good pwnage) I can sit down for 30 min due a few matches, that don't require alot of MP skill to make 1st place. Also Windows Live Game (must get a 10k gamer score on that xbox). Should keep us all busy while we wait for crysis 2

Bioshock, in my opinion, was one of the best games ever to hit the market. I wouldn't doubt Bioshock 2 to be the same. If you haven't played Bioshock, I'd highly recommend it. Bioshock 2's gameplay looks to be even better! I can't wait for it to finally hit store shelves! Definitely one game I plan on buying!

Lost Booklet and Product Key! 2K says oh well!

So excited to get Bioshock 2 but my PC didn't have enough memory (1g). 5 months later I installed 1 more gig. Installed game again and realized I lost the booklet with the Product Key. Contacted 2K Games and their basic answer was "Oh well, buy a new game." Ok, so it's relatively cheap now, but the customer definitely doesn't come 1st with 2K Games.

I loved the 1st one and couldn't wait to get this. After playing it for a while, I found myself losing interest. It's just more of the same. I don't know if I'll be able to complete it because I'm not really enjoying playing it. Had I known it was like this, I would of waited until it was in the bargain bin. Total disappointment!

Like another reviewer, I tend to like games to play stand-alone in the privacy of my own home on a PC. No where in the product details or the product packaging or in the manual does it say you have to create an account online to be able to just save your game, but that is the unfortunate truth of Bioshock 2. "Activation" is another word for data mining in this case. On top of that, you are required to do it using Internet Explorer, a browser that several European governments have recommended not using because of security issues. For now, the game will collect dust on the shelf, a shame because the original game was one of the best I've played.
