Bioshock in one word, is amazing. From the amazing story that pulls you in. To the slick visuals and smooth gameplay. Bioshock will grab hold of you, and take you on a wild ride through the city of Rapture.
Even though there is no multiplayer. I've played through the game several times and I keep coming back for more. As stated above, this game has it all. Anybody and everybody should invest their time into Bioshock. I promise you won't be disappointed what you find lurking at the bottom of the sea.

This is a worthwhile buy for any video gamer. Bioshock is a underwater city called Rapture. You roam the city looking for plasmids, items you can use to shock, burn, or manipulate your enemy's in some way, There is a lot of different types of games. The game makes you think, yet it is easy to get into. The game has an open feeling yet you follow the path to figure out what is going to happen, the strong storyline keeps you into the game. You start out thinking one thing, then it keeps twisting in the game to make you wonder what is going to happen next. Overall this game is worth owning.

Graphics:
Well done and very stylish graphics reflect a 40s-50s feel. Satisfactory for the Xbox360. Lots of attention to detail all over the world.
Sound:
The sounds are amazing in this game. You come back to it just to hear the sounds again. Some old time music included in various places.
Gameplay:
Polished FPS run and gun for the most part solving some puzzles. This is a spiritual successor to System Shock2 on the PC which is a classic. So there are alarms and turrets to hack, upgrades to your 'magic' and weapons. The enemies are very creative, being regular citizens of the 50s that are now psychotic killers due to circumstances. You will hear a woman shouting "Stay away from my Stanley!" while shooting a machine gun at you.
The only bad things are that it is a pretty linear narrative and once you've gone through it there isn't too much to discover except playing with different powers and enjoying the combat again. The end is abrupt.
Bugs:
Nothing I can think of, very polished and smooth.
Summary:
A good buy, very entertaining and niche. Not another Call of Duty clone.

From begining to end this game will have you jumping out of your seat. Playing alone in the dark only builds the suspense of the strange characters that may arise. If the stunning graphics don't get you hooked on the amazing city of Rapture, the sounds will. I highly recommend a surround sound setup for this game. If you don't believe me you can always try the demo on XBOX LIVE, but it does lack the all powerful shotgun. For first time players, play in a group...because you may be too afraid to play it again.

Your path to discovery in Bioshock is littered with tales of a once ambitious underworld society called Rapture, and its merits gone horribly wrong. Free of any real scrutiny, the world of Rapture is now populated with the screaming shells of its former residents; genetic misfires wander at every turn and shadow crying out in the crumbling infrastructure.
This is a rich first-person shooter that embraces the high reward of atmosphere. You can see the lavish water go against the rotting design. The push of history is frozen as you encounter the evidence which unravels those doomed by their own principles. The sounds that echo send a pulse through your skin unlike any other.
More than action, the true player in Bioshock is your own imagination. What exactly happened in Rapture, and more importantly, where is the way out? Once you finish, you will no doubt be firm in your belief that Bioshock rests comfortably among the more memorable game titles of the last decade.

Def worth picking up. Controls handle great, the ability to control environment affects the gameplay and is new addition to FPS games. The story top notch and will keep you motivated to complete the game. Wish there was room for multiplayer, this game is gorgeous. Highly recommend.

Harken for the olden days of PC Gaming? Miss the first two Thieves, Deus Ex, and System Shock 2? Well, here is the closest you can get in todays flash bang gaming atmosphere. A perfect marriage of the old and new styles, gorgeous graphics (you need a HD-TV to truly enjoy it), an astonishing freedom, and atmosphere in spades. Playable as a shooter or a Garret-esque experience. Do you go in guns blazing, hack the security systems and soak in the mayhem, or pick one of the numerous plasmids? It's up to you!

As far as FPS games goes this is an excellent game, but when you throw in the atmosphere and puzzles, this games becomes one of a kind. The people who designed this game really challenge the player so if you are a beginner, make sure you choose the beginner settings. I'd compare this game to Resident Evil as far as genres, but this is far smoother and more fun to play. Prepare to be a little spooked out from time to time as the environment really reels you in and makes you feel like you are there.

One of the best games ever. It has a great storyline with 3 different ending depending on your choices during the game. It's not a hard game to play either, it's pretty easy to catch on. You'll find yourself playing this game constantly until you beat it. It's scary enough to a point that you would jump out of your seat a couple of times, but not so much that you wouldn't want to play this game. It's one of the must have shooter games.

This is a must buy! The gameplay is great - you can use a variety of weapons and plasmids that are all satisfying and fun to use.
The game takes place in the mid-1950's, and the ambiance reflects that era well. The music, props, etc. all make you feel like you are actually in that world.
I also liked the way the story was revealed - the plot unfolds slowly as you make your way through the game. The story is intriguing and engaging.

Bioshock is by far the best game i have ever played. the first thing you notice is the graphics there amazing every thing is detailed you will be looking and random objects because they look so good. The controls for the game take a little getting used to but thats not a big deal . Bioshocks story is a little hard to follow so I suggest finding all the audio tapes not only will you know whats going on and how rapture went into this down ward sprial but it also nets you an achivment. The game is short and very easy so putting the difficulty on hard is a good idea, Ibelive there are three diffrent endings depending on how many little sisters you save will make you play it over. Flying right through the game is a mistake you will miss all the great details they put into it. I have looked in several magazines and all gave bioshock a perfect 10 out of 10 or 5 out of 5 this game is a must have for any gamer.

I had played BioShock's predecessor, System Shock 2 years ago on the PC. It is still one of my favorite games to date, so I went into BioShock with eager anticipation, as well as some high expectations.
I was not disappointed.
The game grabs you from the beginning as you crash into the ocean and discover the underwater utopia of Rapture. Without giving too much away, it is quickly apparent that all is not ideal in this city beneath the waves.
The story itself is thoroughly interesting, although a little ambiguous from the get go. You don't know much about your nameless, faceless character other than you are the sole survivor of the crash, and as you travel through the game world, you learn more about the fate of the denizens of the city through audio diaries, as well as various clues scattered throughout.
The graphics, being on a next-gen system, are superb. From the rippling water effects to the flickering fire, everything is stunningly rendered.
My only complaint with the game lies in the control scheme, there is no option to remap buttons and switching weapons on the fly can be pretty clunky, especially in the midst of one of the games many intense firefights.
All in all, the game is thoroughly entertaining and definitely worth the price tag. While admittedly, it's losing out a lot of its FPS audience to Halo 3, for a different kind of single player experience, I recommend checking out BioShock.

Bioshock is extremly fun!

I have read a lot of other reviews on this title. There are a couple of legitimate grips. There is a problem with the game being easy, (I recommend starting on Hard instead of easy of medium). Also, there is a problem with the game starting to randomly freeze. (This is because on this game it saves everything. You can go back to the first level when you are at the end to retrieve something you may have forgotten. There is also an easy fix for this; If it starts freezing your 360's cache is full and all you have to do is hold the "A" button as you turn on the 360 until the game is up and ready to go. Skip problem is then gone.
Graphically this game is extremely well done. It lacks any kind of multiplayer, but with how intense the graphics are you probably won't miss it. All in all this is a great game for avid FPS players or novices as well.
For the people who buy games based on Achievements for the 360, you won't be disappointed either. There are a lot of 5-point achievements, which come up quite often; there are also a lot of achievements that are really substantial.

BEST GAME EVER!

This is my most favorite game of all time. I fell in love with it the first time I started playing it. It is one of the most evironmental games with optimal graphics and gameplay that anyone will ever find.
Not only is this a great game to play. You will never STOP playing it. All of the abilities you can get throughtout the game keeps you wanting to move on and never stop. The choice of having to SAVE or HARVEST a little sister all based on your perspective of gaming really comes in to play too. Whether you are a cold hearted power hungry monster, or an angel that puts others before you, this game has it all.
The two alternate endings are also decided on how you play the game. Be loved, or be hated by many. Save the world, or destroy it. It is all entirely up to you. The choice of weapons, weapons upgrades, plasmids, and plasmid upgrades never retire. You might not even get everything until you finish the game.
Not only is this game fun and long alone with a huge map to explore, there are the Gamerpoints. I've spent hours upon hours trying to find some of the achievments in this game, which are quite hard to "achieve."
This map has such a huge world, you will never grow bored. I highly suggest this game to Every gamer out there. It is one of the best. Just to mention, BioShock 2 has been confirmed. I'm hoping it will be just as great and pleasing to me as the first one was.

One of the Best Games of 2007

Bioshock is easily one of the best titles for any platform of 2007. The game starts you out on a plane which then crashes in the middle of the ocean. the only land nearby is a very small island with nothing but a lighthouse on top of it. You enter the lighthouse and are immediately taken to the underwater city of Rapture. This city was supposed to be a scientific leap by introducing "plasmids" which allowed its citizens to have abilities such as telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc., but greed for the plasmids grew, corrupting the city and mutating the population. You job is to find out what the deal is and how to get out. The game's atmosphere is great as it creates a moody and eerie environment after every turn. The enemies all yell maniacal things which add to this. The great graphics and artistic design also contribute to this. From the shine of the metal pipes to the reflection of the water on the ground, all of this come together to suck you into the world of Rapture. The weapons you will gain throughout the game and fully customizable, as are your plasmid powers. Both are very fun to use. The story is also good, as the mysteries of Rapture unravel. I do have some minor complaints though. The game has no multi player aspects which is disappointing, and due to this, it also makes the game seem short, at around 10 hours long. I still recommend the game though so go buy it.

This game is fun, they put kind of a roll playing twist on a first person shooter, you get power ups that can change your abilities. I was hoping this game would be more survival horror like resident evil, but its not, its still a little startling and definatly twisted in its own right. Overall I highly recommend it, its a lot of fun, a little easy to beat, but still a lot of fun.

This game is well worth the buy, with an immersing storyline, a multitude of fantastic effect and acting. It stands apart from many in the First Person Shooter Genre by giving many different play styles, choices both moral and tactical, and a surprising amount of replayability in a one player game. If you like horror movies, and want the interactive experience, Bioshock is for you!
