Awesome, But Short!

One of the best games I've played this year. The controls and graphics are top notch. My only complain is that I beat the game in 3 days, ( 3 days that I had to go to work ). Still worth buying though. I can't wait for Bioshock 2.

Bioshock is an outstanding first person shooter that gives you so many ways to perform the same task offering great graphics. If you love a great story line, super graphics and plenty of gore, this is a must buy.

INTENSE!

That is the word I would use to describe Bioshock: intense. From the very beginning the game just sucks you in. It feels like you're in a psychological thriller movie and the graphics just reinforce that: I spent over a minute staring at what I thought was a gorgeous cinematic before I realized that the game had actually started and I was supposed to move around. Furthermore, this game is actually SCARY. Not just "oh wow there's an enemy shoot it," but scary like the old Resident Evil games were. Things jump out at you and are so realistic you nearly wet yourself. The eerie ambience is perfectly crafted, making this game a very emotionally involving experience. Certainly a must for anyone who loves surprises.

If you haven't heard much of bioshock, it is a very great game. The story can be a little confusing at first, but give some time. It's a fantastic shooter that thrills. May look like a horror type game, but it isn't that bad, unless your a whoose. Fantastic graphics, but does not have an online multiplayer. IF your jacked with money, deffentally buy this game, but since it has no online, check if a friend has the game. If you can borrow it and save some money, good for you. The gameplay takes a couple weeks to get through, so it's deffentilly worth the money, and you'll probably want to play the game again, and tie in loose peices that you may have missed because the story has more than one ending.

Bioshock is a stellar game. It has great graphics and the storyline is unbelievably good and strong. The gameplay is like no other game, you can use anything as a weapon. 5 stars easily.

What more do you want in a Shooter? Not much! Graphics are insane, the music, and of course the storyline. It is the closest to a RPG that a Shooter can get. I recommend it highly

Bioshock was a game that I had been watching for a long time, and so the moment it came out I immediatly snatched it up. I beat the singleplayer game in 2 days on easy. It was extremely fun, but playing it through again 2 days later was even more fun. Choosing the ending is kinda cool but there were only 2 endings and 3 different things you can choose to do. I liked this game so much I went back through it to play it for a 6th or 7th time a couple days ago. If you have the money, spending it on this game is not a waste. A great game, that I wouldn't have a problem spending even $100 on! Buy one, heck buy two!

Amazing Shooter

Bioshock has put a new spin on the average shooter. Not only do you have many guns to choose from to kill the enemy, but you also gain powers (ie:telekinesis, electrobolt: in which you can shoot a bolt of lighting from your hand) that you can use creatively. This game is just a fun game to play. Graphics and sound are amazing. I highly recommend this game to the gamer who likes shooters. Although if you are one of those shooters who like to run and gun and get though the game as quickly as you can, I wouldn't recommend this game. This game was meant to be explored. If you can do that you'll love the game.

Best FPS I've ever played

This game was great from start to finish, a true masterpiece. The dystopia of Rapture was a fantastic setting for this game, surreal yet realistic at the same time. Unlike most FPS games, you also get powers instead of just guns. You can snap your fingers and light an enemy on fire, freeze them solid and shatter them, or use mental powers to hurl objects. See a group of enemies in the water? Hurl some electricity and fry all of them at once!
But best of all, 2 separate ending based on your choices through the game. Don't let this one slip through the crack, buy it now, you won't regret it.

As the thousands of other reviews have said, it's got an awesome story. That said, the ending (of which there are only 3) is out of place and rushed. One of the creators in an interview said that it was an upper management decision to have only a few ways to end, even though they emphasize all the different possible choices you make throughout the game.
Realistically, you could rent this game and get everything out of it, as it has very little replay value (probably twice). But it's worth buying if only to support the developers and get more games like Bioshock made. I'd highly recommend it.

Good Game

The gameplay, storyline, and graphics in this game are excellent. The special powers that you gain are a great addition to your run of the mill fps. If you're looking for a great game, that's not too long, this is a great idea. If you're looking for an epic game with hundreds of hours of gameplay, I would look for something else.

Proving games can have story to rival literature

This is the first game I can remember that made me feel tense and caught up in the story and the environment as though I were watching a well-crafted piece of cinema or reading excellent literature.
I love first-person shooters, but the genre has become pretty stale with WW2 after WW2 clone. Bioshock managed to take a completely different direction, limiting some gunplay, yet adding with a series of different twists.
I don't find the lack of multiplayer to be a condemning downfall by any means. This iconic game is one of the few games I would recommend as an absolute must play.

Most innovative FPS game ever!!!

If your tired of boring first person shooter games and want something really different, innovative, and very unique game play then this is the game for you. The game play is very intense that you won't want to put the controller down. I myself was quite amazed by all the sounds, visual effects, and how everything is interactive in the game. Although it doesn't have online multi player that doesn't mean to turn your head the other way because there is a lot of hard hitting action in this game.. This is a must pick up for 2007, one of the years best games for the Xbox 360!

Most unique game this year

This game is just flat out phenomenal. What made me love this game is the 1950/60 art deco appearance of everything. It truly feels like you're going back in time to a world that could have existed despite all the sci fi factors.
The story is also one of the best as far as 360 games go. Very compelling and imaginative. I don't want to to ruin the story for you at all, so you'll just have to play.
Keep in mind it's a 1 player game only. I love multiplayer games, but this is one game you really should get, even if you hate single player.

Graphics: Breathtaking 10/10
The graphics are make you look twice – anyone fans of Art Deco, or even deep sea life will see the immediate beauty of this game. Take some time to watch the water and the detail of it.
Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10
The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the citizens of this underwater city.
Gameplay: Spectacular – 10/10
Smooth animations, large levels, smart enemies and A.I., different possibilities for battles and puzzles – without giving anything away, this game is different, and in a good way.
Replay Value – Amazing 9.5/10
Even without multiplayer, this game has high replay value. You get to choose your own path, make your own choices, all which effect the outcome of the game. The developers left out multiplayer to generate a perfect single player adventure – and they did just that.
Overall – Perfect 10/10
I am a fan of First-Person-Shooters (FPS) and all that is associated with them. This is a FPS technically, but it is so much more. The details and ideas that went in this game prove that risks are still being taken in game development, and they pay off.
Bioshock is labeled as a first person shooter, but it is so much more. It creates its own genre. It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that 2K games wanted to create a cinematic and different experience in a game – one not felt before.
Bioshock took a chance to be different, and it worked. This game is gorgeous, involved, and deep - and it is not the same experience twice. The gameplay and completion of the game is different for each user, which just shows you how much time and thought went into this game. With this much depth, it is hard to compare it to something, and you can’t right now, it is in a league of its own. Typically, when I play a game that I truly enjoy, I have a wow moment – maybe two. This game made me do that several different times. This game is definitely worth checking out, and I hope that it does not get lost in the shuffle with all the other great games coming out in the fall 2007 - This is a must buy!

F.E.A.R. 2

All the hype was right. This is an awesome game. and all the time and money they spent on water graphics certainly paid off.
Just about every review I've seen compared this to Halo, saying that Bioshock was better. However I disagree in parts. Mainly that this isn't the same type of game as halo. This game is much more similar to F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) in it's atmosphere, occasional ghost sightings and overall goriness. Halo on the other hand focuses more on large scale battles in outdoor settings, not to mention including multiplayer into its programming.
This game includes many great complexities, and yet for anyone with a little experience playing first person shooters, or most any game for that matter, it really isn't hard to pick up on the subtleties. one of the most amazing/annoying qualities of the game is the ability to go back from any point in the game, to any previous point, and have everything sitting right where you left it. I say annoying because in certain areas, a vital item can be dropped into an area where it is inaccessable, then be lost for the rest of the game.
There is certainly a great use of MANY mad scientists throughout the game. Actually just about everyone in the whole game is a mad scientist. :-) but other than that, they go into the complexities of their madness through the use of tape recorders strategically left throughout the whole of Rapture, the underwater city in which the game takes place. Of course like any good scientist, these like to experiment, and once mad with power, and having lost their minds, their experiments had a tendency to go overboard. Leaving some very strange abominations throughout the city.
One of the main pillars of the story and the game is the use of Adam and Eve, which are solutions created by the scientists to enable the use of genetic manipulation. That genetic manipulation is taken to some interesting extremes with the use of Plasmids. things that allow people who inject them to gain special powers. I won't go into all of the powers because there are many. But suffice it to say that, normal weapons are only about half of what you use throughout the game.
