Stellar game with a very intriguing story line. When battling have various options to kill your victims with u can freeze then shatter there frozen bodies, set off an security alarm and watch flying bots take out your victim, if your victim is in water you can electrocute them and much much more. There is nothing more rewarding than taking out a huge big daddy and then having to choose between devouring the lil girl he was protecting or setting her free? Confused but yet engaged right.. go buy the game!

I really enjoy playing bioshock. Its such a cool atmosphere and concept for a video game. The only cons are that there is no multiplayer (I really like coop games) and some of the weapons/abilities can be a little clumsy... and after a while you will probably get sick of hacking.

Best Game on 360 by Far

I bought this game on August 21st when it came out. To be honest, this is the best game for the Xbox 360 by far. The graphics for this game are unbelievable, and the gameplay is amazing too. To beat the game throughly it took me around 20 -30 hours, and I still know I missed some stuff. There is no doubt that this game will win game of the year. Trust me, buying this game will not be a disappointment.

Great Game. Bio Shock 2 is finally out. I am more than likeley going to get that one as well. The storyline really captured my soul. The game it self put up a great challenge of enemies as well as boss encounters. I am on my way now to get number two. Fun stuff. .

One of the best games for the Xbox 360. Greate weapons and graphics. On the other hand, the enemies are almost the same through the game and it was tiresome the hacking and buying of ammo. You need to take care of your ammo!!! In general a great game so far this year.

Best Single Player Shooter In a Long Time

    Posted .

Bioshock is one of the most creative shooters in a long time. Right off the bat, the game immerses you in a mysterious underwater city called Rapture, constructed by Andrew Ryan, whose radical ideas could not be recreated anywhere else in the world. But it is not long before you realize that something has gone completely wrong with a once grandiose city. With the help of a mysterious citizen of Rapture guiding you throughout the game, it is your mission to find out just what is going on. Oh, and the massive arsenal of weapons and plasmids don't hurt, either. With upgradable weapons ranging from a simple wrench to a powerful crossbow, it is up to you to decide what weapons are best to keep you out of harm's way. With three fierce types of ammo for each gun, that may not be such a hard task after all. But the variety of plasmids are where the real fun comes in. Stop your enemies dead in their tracks with a bolt of lightning, make 'em sizzle with an inferno of fire, or even send a horde of killer bees after them. There are over 10 different plasmids available in the world of Rapture, which can also be upgraded. Above that there are 71 gene modifications that you can use to improve your character and have a fighting chance against the world of Rapture. But watch out -- the only way to obtain more plasmids is to get to a Little Sister, and that is no easy task. Each Little Sister wanders around the halls of Rapture with a big, lumbering monster of a thing dressed in a scuba diver's suit. The Big Daddies are no easy feat to overcome. You'll have to put all of your skills to the test if you want to defeat them. Only then is it up to you to save the Little Sister and get only a little ADAM, the precious resource that allows you to gain new plasmids, or you could harvest them for every ounce of ADAM in them but sacrificing their lives for it. The choice is yours and will ultimately effect the way the game will turn out. Walking around the world of Rapture, you will notice the incredibly gorgeous and detailed environment. The way the smooth, rippling water cascades down from the ceiling in water falls or the rich lighting effects that will reflect off of wet surfaces or create shadows in which who knows what creature lurks, it is all so elaborate. You'll be able to tell that this city has gone through some serious mayhem from the broken and rusty water pipes to the blood strewn along the walls. But maybe one of the best parts about this game is the nostalgia from a lost era scattered throughout the city. The team behind Bioshock did such a good job of recreating posters, commercials played over the intercom, and even the attire of characters in the game, all of which they blended in to fit with the once prosperous city. Even as you walk around into different areas, there will be a lone radio or record player left on and eerily playing music as you wander through dark corridors. They are great songs, too, like "Papa Loves Mambo" by Perry Como and "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin. The music adds to the effect that Rapture remains a living, breathing place. The citizens you will unavoidably encounter remain with shreds of their former life that will emerge when they speak to ghosts of their memories as you approach them without their knowing. I did give the game, 4 stars, however, because of its lack of multiplayer. I'm a little ashamed of myself because I know all games used to be single player, but in this new age of video games, multiplayer is almost essential to keep a good game. There is little reason for replayability above finding the alternative stories of saving or harvesting all of the Little Sisters, or -- if you did not during your first time playing the game -- you could beat it on Hard difficulty. Other than that, the Xbox 360 achievements are fairly easy to acquire. But even Bioshock's strictly single player adventure is not enough to mar this gem. If you are a fan of shooters, I would strongly recommend this game. If you a fan of a brilliant story, I would strongly recommend this game. If you are a fan of absolutely amazing games, I would strongly recommend this game.

360 Owners: Buy This Game. Period.

After playing video games for 15 years this is easily in my top 10 best of all time. Every aspect of the game is perfection. I can't criticize anything so I have very little else to write, other than the following: If you own a 360 and don't buy this, you may as well skip Halo 3 too and sell the console on eBay. This is a flagship title for this generation and a 100% MUST BUY. It's even worth buying a 360 just to experience it if your PC cannot handle it. It's pure perfection.

This game is outstanding!! I'm a die hard gamer and this game took me about 30-40 hours to beat. Very long levels, lots of very cool gadgets and weapons, and a great story line. It is however a very graphic game. Lots of gore and blood and also is very creepy. So it's definitely not meant for younger kids. But by far is one of the best games I have ever played. The only thing that would have made this game any better was if they had an online play available.

This game was built up to be an amazing purchase well before the release date. After playing through this game, I understand that all the hype and attention given to Bioshock was well deserved. To go beyond the simple mechanics of the standard first person shooter, this game boasts an array of original style to immerse you deeper into the world of Rapture. If you like a good shooter, with a beautifully designed world, this is the game for you!

At first I did not think that I would like this game. But I when I played It I was amazed at the graphics and the gameplay. It is scary and fun. It has little puzzles here and there. It is just over all a well designed game. What I love most is the every thing goes together. There are not useless items, and there really is nothing that you dont understand. It is hard and easy. I can only say go buy it. It is definitely worth the money.

    * This game has a very interesting story - a man has created a city that is "free from petty morality" as he put it. One where the great will not be limited by the weak. And in a way I admired the man who built a city from scratch, but then as you get further into the story you begin to see his dark side. The power struggles that go on and the atrocities commited keep getting deeper and I could barely stop playing because I wanted to find out what happened next. Why have the people gone crazy? What happened to the city? * The sound effects are awesome with a good system. I could feel it everytime the big daddy took a step. * The graphics are some of the best I've seen on the 360. * There is plenty of gameplay depth as far as abilities go. You can use all sorts of different tactics to defeat your enemies. There isn't one specific way that you have to do things, which is a sign of good game designers. * Bottom Line: If you appreciate a good story and a detailed world then you will love this game.

This is one of the best game I have played in years. The graphics of the undersea world are stunning. The soundtrack to the game pulls you right back into the 1950's. The enemies are relentless, you can try and run from them like in other games...but in Bioshock they will hunt you down! After a few hours of the game though it can feel somewhat repetative. Even with the repetativeness this game is a must have for Xbox360 owners.

By far, this has to be the most interesting yet beautiful shooter I've played yet. It's all the hype that it was hyped up to be. If you have a 1080i or 1080p HDTV - this game will look stunning on your TV. The storyline is so creepy and retro at the same time. It's a 1960s feel to a futuristic world underwater - YET - the weapons are retro. A retro-feel to a futuristic world underwater. The violence and gore is top notch. It made all my disappointment in Halo 3 go away. This game had me playing for hours and hours and hours and the storyline is just way too weird and compelling that I had to force myself to save my game progress and stop so I could go to bed! It's that fun. You've got plenty of powers (called plasmids) and weapons in the game. The only downfall of the game is the "hacking" aspect of it all. When you buy the game, you'll come across these "hacks" that you can perform or pay to be bypassed which gets truly annoying. Tripping the security alarms also adds to ruining the flow of the game, but other than that, this game is visually stunning, gameplay is top notch, and the detail put into graphics and storyline is 1st class!

Having pre-ordered this game a few weeks ago I had the priveldge to play this game the first day it came out. Once I start playing I couldn't put this one down until it was over. It took me almost a day that I have to call in sick just to see the end of this game. The gameplay is something out of the box and the graphics is like no other. If there's a pefect game ever made- I will definitely put this on top!

I typically would frown upon anyone writing a review before playing through the entire game but I broke my own rule with Halo 3 because it was simply too boring to finish. BIOSHOCK, on the other hand, is simply awesome. I haven't even played half-way through I'm sure but want to put in my two cents worth. Graphics: 5 = awesome Sound: 5 = awesome challenge: 5= awesome story: 5= awesome gameplay: 5= awesome replay: 5= awesome Does anyone else actually feel scared (as in watching a horror movie) at times when your playing this (especially when you hear Big Daddy's footsetps but don't know where he is)? The only thing this game is missing is smell and taste. I just feel that this game was so well thought out, planned, developed and produced that it has set a new, higher bar for all other game developers. As far as that is concerned, 2K will have to work very hard to equal or surpass this if they try a sequal or any other similar game. Thanks 2K for this awesome game. Well worth the cost (even for us workin folks) and much more than simply a "shooter" game. Probably need to add a new category though I wouldn't know what to call it. Then again, maybe that's jumping the gun a bit since for the time being, BIOSHOCK would be the only game listed. Buy it today and make sure you spend your money at Best Buy since they work hard to bring us a good "on the shelf" selection and this great website that helps us in sharing and choosing what to spend our money on.

I knew this game was going to be a good game before I even bought it. Now that I've bought it and played it, I have to admit that it exceeded my expectations. With weapons upgrades, to the envirnment and its denizens, and the special ability to interact with just about everything and in different ways (i.e. destroying or hacking turrets, etc), all I can say is that this game is totally worth it.

The release of Bioshock on the 360(as well as PC) brought a whole new meaning to first-person shooters. You are given countless ways to play the game(this means there is more than one ending),not to mention the breathetaking detail and physics in the world of Rapture. I have recently beaten the game and am just as inclined to play it again as if i had just bought it. I recommend this to anyone!

That is one of the greatest 1st person shooters out. You feel like you are in the underwater city it takes place in. It a roller coaster ride but fun-ner. Great guns and graphics. It does take a long time to beat, so its longer than most 1st person shooters. The online play is real cool. A must play for any gamer.
