I've now gone through several different steam mops and I can say right up front this easily wins as the best one I've had. In fact I honestly could hardly wait to replace my last one. This Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam isn't perfect though and does have its shortcomings, but let's start with the important stuff first, and what's more important than how well it cleans! In this regard it does a stand-up job. I have laminate flooring with 2 large dogs in my house, so you can see their tracks and paw prints all over. One pass with this Bissell though is all it took to clean it all up, and it was a noticeable difference, even though we clean our floors regularly to prevent them from getting too bad. And what you don't see on the floors you definitely see in the dirty water tank! Best of all it didn't leave any type of film or stickiness behind, just nice clean floors that honestly dried really fast within just minutes. This Bissell comes with 2 formula samples as well (actually 3 but the 3rd is for cleaning the mop itself), and for this first job we used the Pet multi-surface formula. It also worked great on our small sunroom that has tile flooring. One of the nice things I noticed right away, as did my wife since we both used it to try it out, is how smoothly and easily it glides. Even though this mop does have a little bit of weight to it, it's very maneuverable and easy to handle. What might be my favorite thing about it though is that when you're all done, it has it's own cleaning cycle to get the brush roller ready for its next use and it does a pretty good job at it, plus its kind of fun to watch for some reason. Now for the not so good stuff. As good as it cleans it doesn't go very far before needing something, whether that be refilling the water tank or emptying the dirty water. The dirty water tank doesn't hold very much, especially considering how low the 'max' line is in comparison to the overall tank. At first glance I honestly didn't even notice that 'max' line, and I didn't get that much cleaning done before I could hear a change in the suction and saw that it was no longer picking up the water off the floor, even though the dirty water tank wasn't even half full. I spent several minutes messing around with it and reading through the trouble-shooting section of the manual before I finally took a closer look at the tank, and saw the 'max' line. Turns out there's a floating style cap in the tank that blocks the suction once the dirty water gets to that 'max' line. It's a great automatic system to keep too much dirty water from damaging anything but the tank design just holds so little of it. As for having to fill the clean water/formula tank, I started out with it full for a large room, which should last up to 700 sf according to Bissell, and happens to be about the same size area of my flooring that I was cleaning. In reality I ended up using about 2 and a half tanks for the job. I'm sure part of that was just me also being thorough with my cleaning, but it shouldn't have been that bad, and we pretty much used up the entire sample bottle of pet multi-surface formula. Another minor thing I didn't like is how there's no 'pre-heating' without turning the power button on, which also turns on the suction, so it just sits there vacuuming away while waiting. Seems it should have a regular power button to turn it on to 'pre-heat' and a separate button to power on the vacuum portion. Between all the tank filling/emptying, cleaning cycle, drying out and set-up, it's not really the kind of steam mop you just have on the ready and use at any moment throughout the day. It's really best suited for those more thorough cleaning days as it's a bit of a process to use. Again though, what's most important is how well it cleans, and for that, this steam mop does an outstanding job, plus I forgot to mention the lights which is a nice addition. The small nitpicks aside, this is still the best steam mop I've ever had and I definitely recommend it and give it 4 out of 5 stars, just be aware of its shortcomings.

Making Daily Floor Cleaning Quicker & Easier

I was so excited get a vacuum that eliminated dragging around a mop and bucket of water. However it took lots of trial and error to get close to that goal. I think I will still need to mop about once a week with a mop and water. That being said this mop will cut down on the time I spend cleaning on daily tasks. The floor looked shinier and felt clean when I used the steam wash mode. The normal mop mode was great for evening clean up. I did use the three bottles of cleaners that came with the vacuum including Bissell Hard floor sanitizer, Bissell Pet Multi-Surface and freshstart clean out cycle formula. I used the lines on the vacuum bottles exactly as directed. In the future I will use less of the pet multi-surface cleaner because it left the floor a bit sticky. I was concerned that The Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam Corded Wet Dry vacuum is much narrower than my other vacuum. However I found this to be a good thing because it swivels so smoothly that it gets around the corners of furniture and the toilet effortlessly. It’s so light and cleans my floor easily. I have a dog and a cat. I found the vacuum to be pet friendly and it did pick up most of the hair. I still needed to bend over and pick up some it. I had to spend extra time to go over some cat hairballs residue that were stuck to the floor. Some kitchen spills were not easily cleaned up with just one swipe of the vacuum. Overall I do like the vacuum and will use it daily but will not get entirely rid of my mop and bucket just yet. This vacuum is making daily floor cleaning easier and quicker.

Getting Better - Still Needs a Little Work

I've now used the hydrosteam for 3 cleanings. I have a ceramic tile marble-like white floor, with a little brown in it, which shows every little spot and dog hair. Mopping was not effective and left streaks. The non-heat crosswave was a disappointment. It did not clean hard water stains, soap scum and dried dog drool very well. A second cleaning with a steam mop was necessary. The hydrosteam is a better alternative to cleaning twice. It does do a much better job than using the other two devices, which I will now trash. It does have a couple of areas of needed improvement. It does take several passes to clean harder stains (dried dog drool). And it does not clean the grout very well. (Only hands, knees and scrubbing does that.) So perhaps a brush with better floor contact or stiffer scrubbing fibers would work better. It also needs a larger dirty water tank. For my 1500 sq ft of floor, I need to empty the tank 4-5 times - and always outside due to the dog hair. I like the self cleaning cycle, the ergonometrics, the lights, the maneuverability, the ease of cleaning the device - messy, but efficient. And I like the idea of steam and the deep cleaning that it does. If they can address those few issues, it would get a 5.

    Multitasker!

The Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam makes daily life with two big fluffy Siberian cats a little easier. Having cats that are furry comes with some unexpected accidents sometimes after they use the bathroom as stuff will get stuck to their fur and land where it’s not supposed to! Being able to quickly sanitize and steam clean both carpets and hardwood floors if this happens is a big plus. The Crosswave has three separate cleaning modes, hard floor, steam wash and area rug. With a push of a button on the handle you can switch between the three different modes. When you pull the button to dispense the formula the front light will get brighter letting you see the area better and know you’re dispensing formula. The machine comes with three trial size bottles of formula. One hard floor, one multi surface and one clean out formula for the machine. The multi surface is the best smelling carpet/multi surface cleaner I’ve ever smelled. We have one area rug that is a light beige/white and needs spot cleaning a lot, everything I’ve ever used will make this carpet have an unpleasant smell for a little while after you clean it. The multi surface cleaner is the first cleaner that hasn’t done that. When you’re done with the machine, the compartment that collects the dirty water has a nice pull out tray/filter that will collect any debris that’s in the dirty water. It also comes with a storage tray that when you’re done, you pour some of the clean out formula in, sit the machine in, press a button and it runs a clean out cycle that gets any debris out of the machine. If you’re looking for a machine that can make life’s little messes a little easier to clean, the Bissell Crosswave has you covered.

So when my woman said she wanted this all i seen was the price tage. So i had to go to google and youtube and research this. I gave in and said go head and get it. She used it that sunday when i was at work after i moped the floor and it was still able to pull dirt that a regular mop left behind. We have tile floors throughout the house and this thing has worked wonders. If u have the money this is a must buy the floor will never be cleaner

[Employee of bestbuy] Purchased this for my wife and I ended up being the one using it. That being said it is very easy to use. Love the it keeps the clean and dirty water separate and gives you the ability to clean the roller without disassembly. I will say it is heavy, so if you have a petite wife like me that is something to take in consideration.

I love this wet dry vac! Great for vacuuming and mopping if you hate to do each separately. It works best if you sweep or dry vacuum first but in does a good job cleaning up messes on hard floors in a pinch. Steam function helps get extra gunk off the floor and sanitizes as you go. Great for bathrooms and kitchens. There are a few cons. The picture is sort of misleading, it only comes with one brush not two. I wish the cord were longer and you still need to use a traditional mop to get all the way in the corners and against walls. Crosswave does an excellent job cleaning up after kids and pets but I think the Spinwave is a better fit than the crosswave if you are going for more of a mop replacement.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Total Lifesaver for a 4-Cat Household! If you have multiple pets, stop scrolling and just buy this. We have four cats who are absolute experts at making a mess, and this BISSELL CrossWave HydroSteam has been a complete game changer for us. Performance on Every Surface: Hardwood & Tile: It handles our hardwood upstairs and the tile downstairs with ease. It doesn't just "wet" the floor; the steam function actually feels like it's deep-cleaning and sanitizing. The "Pool Area" Test: We even use it by our pool area, and it handles the grit and moisture out there perfectly. Carpet & Rugs: It transitions seamlessly to carpets, picking up embedded cat hair that our old vacuum used to leave behind. Why it's Perfect for Pet Owners: No More Pre-Sweeping: It vacuums and washes at the same time. It picks up dry kibble and wet messes in one pass, which is a huge time-saver when you're cleaning up after four cats. Thorough Clean: Every surface feels "barefoot clean" afterward—no sticky residue or missed hair. Tangle-Free: The brush roll handles the cat hair like a pro without getting constantly jammed. Bottom Line: From the upstairs hardwood to the poolside tile, this machine is phenomenal. It's the only thing that can actually keep up with our "messy" feline family!

The title says it all. This product just works. Call it the "gets the job done vac" and that's all we say it is around our house. This vac will take care of all kinds of things. The fact that it's a steam-based wet vac also help with tough-to-clean items. The steam can be shut off as well and used as a traditional Dry vac for certain areas like hardwood, composite flooring, etc. It also has a self-cleaning option as it sits in its tray, cleaning its own brush. If my kids could self-clean as well as this vac does, we wouldn't need it in our house. Overall, Bissell has done a great job making a product that is easy to use.

It does the job but with some caveats and post cleaning. This is not the product that will solve all your problems but it does help. I have all tile floors. I was hoping that this would be a one stop clean and mop floors. You still need to do some hard mopping yourself to get really stuck on grime. But it's good to make sure the floors are mostly clean. Along with my roomba and some hand mopping spots, it's a nice have to the cleaning regime. The clean up of the machine after every use is a bit much, but c'est la vie. It is very lightweight and easy to handle. Very intuitive and easy to use. I hope in a few years there will be one on the market that is ideal.

Vac mop combo that works and steams? Yes

I've tried a few of these vac mop combos in the past. They work really well at cleaning the floor and pulling away the mess. What stands out for these is how long is your kitchen closed due to wet floors and how long can this unit last? I am happy to say that this currently one of the few that are corded ( thank goodness) which means it will last longer as a unit and will clean longer. It leaves the floors moistened if not completely dry. The steam is not very strong but using hot water is better for cleaning anyways. Bissel does a great job at trying to make this unit last using a self wash sequence that does what it needs to do. My only complaints are the gimmicks. Yes it does put out steam to clean really well but its not enough to sanitize. The rug wash is next to useless. I do think they could have done better on the brushroll lid, i think that will need to be replaced more than other parts. Other than that, i love using it. 2 dogs, 1 cat, 4 humans. All hard floors
