Initial Reaction: The brute suction of this powerful machine exceeded my expectations. Hybrid design allows use as both a powerful upright & portable. My Evolution: Although I grew up using Hoover uprights, I switched to Dyson (specifically, the Dyson DC41 Animal Complete) 5 yrs. ago. Though the Dyson was clearly overpriced, I felt that, performance-wise, it was in a class by itself … until now. This Bissell vacuum took some of the best design features of the Dyson & improved upon them. Priority 1: I believe the #1 function of a great vacuum is SUCTION POWER! Regardless of design, ease of use, specialized tools, etc., it must lift & fully extract the dirt, dust, & hair. This Bissell definitely meets that requirement. In fact, I was surprised by the amount of debris picked up by the Bissell only a day after a thorough vacuuming w/my Dyson. Mind you, I adjusted the Variable Suction Control to the strongest setting (intended for hard floors) for use on my cut pile carpeting, & it really sucked all the debris out of the carpet. On this setting, it gets 5 stars for suction! (There is also an on/off brush roll switch for multi-surface cleaning.) Hair!: We have girls w/long hair in our house; so, we joke that we can’t have pets, because there’s already too much hair flying around. Bissell touts its “tangle-free” brush roll, which incl. a large brush dowel & unique bristle design as well as a wide spiral groove where the brushes are fastened to the roller—all of which are supposed to help remove not just pet hair, but human hair, while preventing that hair from catching onto the bristles & wrapping around the brush. I was eager to test this because, once a month, I have to flip my Dyson over, get down on the floor, & make a mess trying to untangle all the hair & other fibers that have wrapped around its brushes. The problem of hair wrap is greatly reduced w/the Bissell, if not entirely eliminated. Emptying: The patented Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System is supposed to whirl hair, dirt, & dust until these particles form a tight ball at the bottom of the tank. Then, you’re supposed to be able to effortlessly dump the debris ball into the garbage w/o having to dig into the dustbin to remove stuck hair & fine particles. In practice, the emptying of the hands-free canister is similar to the Dyson, w/neither model being completely hands-free, especially when it comes to removing long hair that still gets wrapped around the filter. Portable Mode: This is 1 of the vac’s best features. The convenient “Lift-Off” system allows you to remove the canister w/the press of a button—leaving the frame, handle, & brush roller behind. This lets you travel w/just the guts of the vac, incl. the telescoping extension wand, to easily reach stairs, baseboards, ceiling fans/vents, & crown moldings, etc. Value Summary: Overall, I found the Bissell easy to use & empty. While it’s comparable in design to the Dyson, the effective suction power of the Bissell outperformed the more expensive Dyson. This vac offers good value for the price. The Bissell has the quality & best features of a Dyson w/a much smaller hit to the wallet. OTHER PROS Setup: Out-of-the-box easy/minimal assembly: Requires a screwdriver to attach the handle. Then snap on the hose, attach the 2 accessory pieces to the upright vac, & you’re good to go. Allergens: The SmartSeal filtration system forces air to pass thru the allergen filter—trapping particles, dander, & dust inside the vac so that you don’t have to breathe them. Includes 2 allergen filters. Additional Convenience Features: Lighting: LED headlamps on both sides of the floor nozzle allow you to clearly see the surface that you're vacuuming & whether or not you need to make additional passes. And the LED on the end of the crevice tool is a nice touch to illuminate tight spaces & dark corners. CONS Most Notable Negative: Instability: It’s not always desirable to remove the canister. So, if you choose not to go portable w/the ‘lift-off’ feature, & instead want just to pull out the extension wand for a quick suction, you can’t reach very far w/o the entire vac tipping over. It’s very annoying to have the tipsy 18-lb. vac come crashing down onto my foot or the floor. There must be some way for Bissell engineers to stabilize the upright’s platform w/o adding extra weight. Handle Release: The ‘foot’ icon on the floor nozzle is misleading in that it appears to indicate that you should step on the rear of the plastic base to release/lower the handle from its upright position. Instead, you have to awkwardly press your foot down much farther forward on the base, in order to release the handle, so that you can then push/pull the vac. Cord Wrap: The cord hooks are placed so close together (1 ft. apart) that it requires 20+ wraps of the 30-ft. cord—making storage slow/tedious. For the price, I’d hoped for an auto-retracting cord like I had on my Electrolux vac 45 yrs. ago. Attachments: It would be more convenient if all 3 of the accessory tools were storable on the upright vac. Unfortunately, there’s no slot for the TurboEraser nozzle (designed for removing hair from stairs & upholstery, etc.); so, it must be stored elsewhere. Febreze Filter: Even if you like the artificial smell of the strongly-scented P&G Febreze filter (we don’t), this extra filter doesn’t incl. the lockdown screw that the other 2 fragrance-free Bissell filters have. This oversight needs to be corrected.

We all know that having furry companions like a dog or a cat can be a big responsibility with clean up sometimes proving to be a bigger challenge. In my case, I deal with a lot of fur from my cats and dirt from the dog. Using a vacuum to clean up the built-up fur or the dirt that is deep within the carpet is exhausting since it can require multiple attempts. Just when you think you’re finished, you notice that the suction has decreased or that the beater brush is tangled with various hairs or string. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift-Off Vacuum tackles these grievances and more with amazing results. The Lift Off has noticeable options in regards to floor types. There’s a knob that you turn which allows you to vacuum the high carpet, bare floor or adjust it for anything that falls in between. On top of that, you can flip a switch that turns off the beater brush when vacuuming a bare floor or low carpet. Let me praise the beater brush. In past experiences with other vacuums, the beater brush had a tendency to spit out various pieces debris that didn’t get pulled into the suction. The Lift Off pulled in debris like crystal litter pieces and KEPT it! It didn’t fling the litter in several directions. I also have to mention that the beater brush didn’t have hair tangled up within the bristles like I have usually seen with my other vacuum. Trust me, over time the tangled hair builds up and has an effect on the level of clean. And there’s nothing grosser than trying to clean tangled hair off a beater brush because it usually requires scissors or a razor blade and patience. Bissell means it when they claim, tangle free. Accessing the attachments is easy as you would expect. The nice touch is the telescopic tool that extends on its own when you remove it from the side for those moments when you have to reach the corners and it collapses when you place it back into the side compartment. Simple. Another great feature of the Lift Off vacuum is that it detaches from the main vacuum frame, allowing you to take the canister onto the stairs and vacuum using the small beater brush attachment. However, this is where I deduct a star from my review because the small beater attachment struggles to spin if anything obstructs the vacuum flow (it’s self-propelled). Other neat features are the LED lights that are on the vacuum head which I originally thought would be pointless until I was vacuuming next to the bed and since it’s dimly lit, I wouldn’t have noticed the small cat toy if it weren’t for the “headlights” on the vacuum. There’s another small attachment that has a LED light for those dark corners. What I really like about this vacuum is that it CLEANS. I didn’t have to think that I was done cleaning only to discover that the vacuum didn’t pick up dirt or something. The suction on the Lift Off is serious business. Finally, I have to address the emptying of the dirt from the canister. In the past, when I have had to empty the canister on my other vacuum, I’ve had to reach up and pull out the hair that wouldn’t shake loose. It’s nasty business that eats up time when you’re trying to wrap up the cleaning. Emptying the Lift Off canister is EFFICIENT! I pressed the button that releases the trap door and ALL of the dirt and hair simply slid out without any stragglers. It wasn’t a one-time thing, the canister empties fully each time. Whether you’re a pet owner or just want a vacuum that cleans thoroughly, this Bissell Lift-Off vacuum is a great investment.

This is a quality, well-designed vacuum. Setup took only 5minutes with the included optional-use Febreeze filter. Overall design is well thought out and quite functional. Worked great for pet hair and just as well for regular dirt. The lighted wand was a nice touch for those darker areas, but nothing mind-blowing. Definitely on the heavier side, but that is normal for a quality built vacuum. This vacuum is definitely louder than most vacuums and that's accentuated when the roller is on (for carpet). Standard accessories are included, with the addition of the turbo pet hair attachment. Anyone in the market for a quality vacuum with extra pet capabilities should definitely consider this model. Pros: Easy setup Quality attachments LED Lighted Wand Large Pet hair turbo attachment Pet friendly Maneuverable Replaceable filter Includes Febreeze scented filter Easy empty dirt bin Long cord Easy Carpet/hardwood level adjust Single press on/off and Roller on/off buttons Cleans well without having to go over many times This vacuum has a long list of pros and should be suitable for most users and especially pet owners since it is specialized to reduce hair tangles and includes a turbo pet hair attachment. The turbo pet hair attachment is great for couches, cars, pet beds, etc. I did not have any problems cleaning off long and short pet hairs, without tangling. I also appreciated the slightly larger size of this attachment, compared to other vacuums. Pet owners will definitely benefit from this model. The attachments in general are pretty well made and seem to be durable. The extension hose compresses tightly when not in use, reducing overall storage space requirement. Although a simple touch, the LED light on the cleaning wand is useful for dark areas, but not a jaw-dropping feature. The battery is simple to replace which is also nice. Maneuverability was pretty good but not great, I think there is some improvement to be made here, but this should be good enough for most people. However, if maneuverability is a priority I would compare other models in this price range before settling on this one. The filter is easy to replace and the included Febreeze filter was surprisingly pleasant and left a more "clean" scent post-vacuum. This vacuum utilizes the popular one touch removal and emptying of the bin, which is a good size and easy to operate. I appreciated the longer than average cord length. There is a small, easy to find knob that quickly adjusts between bare floor and carpet modes. I really liked the easy switch operation for power and the roller. Most importantly, this vacuum cleans well without having to go over areas multiple times. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a quality vacuum. Cons: Heavier side Loud Edge cleaning Overall, there are not many cons to this vacuum and I think most buyers will be very pleased. I still believe at this price point, the vacuum could be lighter, and definitely much quieter. There are multiple vacuums that achieve this at a similar price point. However, heaviness is very subjective and is probably only a concern (in this case) to those who may have limited lifting ability. The noise on the other hand is definitely much more than I would expect. It is even louder with the roller on. The edge cleaning is also not the best I've experienced, but it is good enough. Lastly, maneuverability and the smoothness of movement can be improved.

My bulldog loves running around my household, I love and adore her with her funny ways. I would do anything for my best friend but she has a problem, she sheds out of this world. Leaving her hair everywhere all over my floor. My old vacuum just wasn't cutting it when picking up her hair and that's when I decided to try last years Bissell's Pet Hair Eraser. It did the job well but it needed some minor improvements that could have helped me in certain situations. Clearly I can't pick up the larger vacuum and carry it upstairs. Portability was one of the problems larger model. I'm here to report today that 2017's 2-in-1 model is much much improved while being bit smaller. This vacuum is engineered for pets that was built from the ground up really delivers on every single thing the box promised. Opening the box you are greeted with instructions of everything within the box. There are even steps to take out the vacuum easily from the box. You also have customer support information and donations information for Bissell's own pet foundation. The instructions are clearly detailed, This year model was easier to put together and faster. It took me no time to have this up and running. Design wise it looks great with hints of a blue and green throughout, giving it that "sleek" look and still showcases that its part of the pet hair eraser family. The labels are bold so you can see them. It has a swivel that hits the corners at the right angles picking up all the hair. Most of the equipment attached to the vac is out of the way and doesn't bump against your knee or arms. Right away you can see the tangle free brush roll, this is where you see most of the dirt pick up and see what pet hair twirling tangle free. This was the single most annoying thing to untangle my bulldogs clumped hair from my older vac so having this was a godsend to pet owners. Last year's of this vac model did do a great job but this one the suction is strong and sweeps up hair much faster. Even worst is removing hair from dirt tank compartment from clogs. This vacuum eliminates all of that due to the "Pet hair eraser" a system where the pet hair always remain loose and doesn't clog up the rest of the dirt tank compartment. Does it work? YES! This was also on last year model but the tank on this one is a bit wider allowing more space for the dirt to fall out. This probably the biggest improvement to the vac I've seen. No longer all of the dirt and hair is trapped. All you do is release the dirt compartment over the trash and all falls right out without even touch dirt. Honestly it also work for long male/female hair on the floor as well. The spooling system is great on this model because the tank is bigger more air and more freeflow. It just works as it should. The Lift-off vac multi-surface suction control works fantastic so no issues here. The truth that all pet owners have to go through one way or another in time...the pet smell. All pets have an certain odor and my bulldog is no exception to this rule. One intriguing and interesting thing about this vacuum is their is an Febreze deodorizer filter that eliminates pet odor. For the most part it works filling up my room with a nice, fresh, and pleasant smell killing any other odors. The filters are washable according to Bissell but I've been buying refills for the bigger brother to this vac. I love this feature and best of all its in 2-in-1! This vacuum have specialized pet tools for you to reach places that are hard to reach. I decided to try using this on a ceiling fan, steps, and behind the sofa just to try it out with pet hair. The handle releases as the tool for you to use. Also comes with a 2-in-1 pet brush that lets you pick up hair from delicate surfaces. As expected it works just fine picking up hair. I used the LED light at the edge of the tool behind the sofa and for the most part it does the trick. The LED light is much brighter on this one then on the bigger model. This vacuum could work as just a normal vac if you don't care about its features. It works just fine but you wouldn't be taking advantages of the pet features it's deigns for. If that's what you are looking for I would say try one of others cheaper Bissell vacuums and skip this one. BUT as a Pet Vacuum for you and your little friend who sheds, this thing is a monster for picking up pet hair around your house. All of this combined with the 5-Year warranty and a $10 donation to Bissell's pet foundation you could not go wrong. I would only recommend this product to anyone with a pet easily. This is a must have pet owners product.

This is a very versatile vacuum combining the usefulness of an upright with the increased versatility of a canister. The lift-off system where the canister and hose detach from the upright handle and roller head is straightforward to use and makes the switch pretty easy overall, after one or two tries, it was second nature. The power cord is exceptionally long at about 30 feet which makes cleaning in one shot easy without having to plug and replug back into outlets. The vacuum comes pretty much assembled except to attach the handle and hose and the only tool required is a Philips head screwdriver. Bissel includes a Febreze HEPA filter that can be used optionally in place of the standard filter. I left the original filter in and have not used the other filter yet. The vacuum is fairly heavy at a little over 17lbs but in canister mode become very manageable and even in upright mode it is still very easy to use due to the upright's great maneuverability. It has bright white LEDs on both the power head and crevice tool to assist with cleaning. The crevice tool LED is actually pretty helpful for cleaning tough to see areas like the lint filter of a dryer or dark areas where some illumination is always useful. Bissel provides in this vacuum so much suction that it is excellent at getting pet dander and dust in addition to all types of hair. The canister is easy to remove for emptying and as I said the lift-away system works very well. Push a big green button, lift the canister up and out and you now have a relatively lightweight handheld canister vac that is so easy to use for stairs (always a tedious effort for uprights or full canisters), on furniture, on blinds, around appliances, in automotive vehicles, underneath furniture, beds or any other places a normal full size vacuum makes it difficult to get to. The warranty is five years which is very acceptable but not as long as some of its competitors but overall a great value, with powerful suction, great maneuverability and easy of conversion and little to no maintenance. All the filters are washable and need no replacement per the manual other than every 3-6 months.

Wow, the vacuum suction of this vacuum is amazing, when i first turn it on my niece actually got scarred. I have 3 dogs(Chihuahua, German Sheppard, and Pitbull) and one cat that often jump and sleep in our couch. As you can imagine the hair that is left by these dogs. I also needed a portable vacuum cleaner to clean up the inside of my vehicle. I wash my car every other week. This vacuum cleaner took care of both of those problems! This vacuum comes equipped with interchangeable parts for different jobs. It was really easy to assemble, it took me about 5 mins to put everything together. It's a decent weight (17 pounds) and comes with a very long extension cord, its 29.9 feet. I love the "lift off" technology, you can literally leave the bottom base of the vacuum and just carry the portable Lift-Off canister, which is perfect for carrying it outside for my car washes. One of the interchangeable pieces even comes with a builtin light, how cool is that? Now about the pet hair, it has a "turboeraser" interchangeable tool which works great for my carpet and couches, it literally just sucks up the hair out of the couches/carpet. I love it.I used to hate emptying my vacuum cleaner, but now all i have to do is press the release button in the bottom of the canister and watch the hair and dust literally fall off, no more putting your hands inside and pulling it out. I also like that this vacuum has a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer instead of the normal 1 year. I will admit it's kind of loud, but i guess that's due to how powerful the vacuum is, and the fabreeze filter is a nice touch too. It leaves a nice smell after every vacuum session. When the vacuum is being used it has LED lights in the front as well. I really like this vacuum i think is a great addition for any household. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

I have mixed experience with this device, some of the small details are very good, some oversights are beyond me. I have been using one from Hoover previously (Bought at BestBuy), which was a cheaper model, price wise (significantly so). So that is my reference for this review. I do have a dog in my house, who sheds her hair all over the places. The appearance of the device is very good, I like the color combination. Supplied accessories are good as well, I am a fan of the Crevice Tool. My dog's hair goes at some obscure part in my PC, and this tool is good to pick them up, led is a good place for such area. The telescopic wand could have been better, the lock system is faulty as it does not lock, no matter what. The grip is awkward. why they could not have used the handle itself for telescopic wand is beyond me. My 3 years old hoover does it, and does it great. The reach is far short in case of Bissel, it can be lifted but a longer wand would have been better. The pivotal handle is a treat to handle, this adds to so much better handling than a standard handle. There is place for all accessories on the device itself, all but one. The smaller brush roll cannot be placed anywhere. They have thought about holding wire, while cleaning, at the back of the handle; so that the machine will not tangle with wire. Pretty Neat. The vacuum itself is fine, the motor is rated for 7 AMP, my Hoover’s motor is rated at 11 AMP, so in theory it is a lot less powerful than that. Considering above, Noise: The Bissel is less noisy, when the brush is off, but noisier than the Hoover with brush roll on. Which is surprising considering the difference in amperage. Similarly, the small brush roll is also super noisy. I tried it on my dog’s bed, and I think it is a good addition as it is difficult to clean with the standard size roll. I think it does not have sufficient suction to clean it all, so it fetches a lot of hair, yet leaves a lot of them. Cleaning: They are very close; hoover still beats it when I measure the suction, but they both can pick same dirt/trash. But if you are looking for a heavy lifter, it is not. So, considering everything, it’s a mixed bag, looks good, some of the accessories are good, some are okay, it is noisy, for suction it produces. Yet the pivotal handle is a treat, and so does the crevice tool. I would have recommended it if had some more suction. It has plenty for my hardwood floors and top up carpets. So, if you are looking for a lift-up, device and you live in a hardwood floor and have a dog, go for it, or you can search on BestBuy and see if there is a better deal.

Package arrived in tact with all the pieces included: the vacuum base, the handle that must be attached with one screw, the hose with telescoping wand, a LED lighted crevice tool, a 2-in-1 pet brush, an extra Febreze, , a pet eraser tool, and a quick start guide. This is Bissell's vacuum that they say was built by Pet Owners, to which I am one. By the way, Bissell is making a $10 donation to a pet charity for each machine sold and I went on the website to register my machine for this donation. However, I do not know if in my case they will ultimately make that donation since I am a Best Buy tester that receives this free for my honest opinion on the equipment. Additionally, they go so far as to say that they have a tangle-free brush roll and that its design is supposed to stop the pet hair from wrapping around and tangling in the roller. If any hair stays in the roller than the user should be able to redirect the vacuum in a back and forth method over clean carpet to release the hair from the brush into the machine. I loved the lit crevice tool. The light automatically comes on once the tool is put on the wand-it is so helpful to see when cleaning. The lift away feature allows the user to essentially take the motor off the upright and use it to clean hard to get to or high surfaces; this is also a very nice tool in the cleaning game. I think the only thing that could have made this vacuum better would have been that the head with the brush roll could stay motorized without the motor attached so that you could still continue to vacuum with a really low profile under furniture. By the way, i just want to also mention that all the tools have a place on board the machine, except for the Pet TurboEraser tool, which also makes the vacuuming task easier.

The assembly was easy and the engineers at Bissel did such a good job that as you put the unit together or take it apart the procedures are intuitive and it seems the parts kind of plug themselves back together as you position them - I like that. I did call Bissel on one point and I found their support is great, this is not a brand where you have difficulties getting help. The problem had to do with an optional filter that has built in Febreze scent and I simply had a question on its availability - they said soon and then offered me the part free - wonderful. I had vacuumed my living room with an expensive German vacuum (about 3 times the cost of this unit), and I went over the same area and wow, this vacuum pulled up more of my pet rat terrier/chihuahua’s hair. No doubt this vacuum did a better job. If you move from carpet to wood floors you can flip a switch to turn off the brush and use only vacuum power – nice. There is a knob that might confuse some, it opens the vacuum a little so that when you are in carpet you may want less vacuum or less vacuum when doing drapes, but you close it to get full vacuum for wood floors. I’ve seen the feature on other vacuums and it can be useful – for example on my basement indoor/outdoor carpet I used full power just like a wood floor, but a heavy knap you may not need the full power of the vacuum. This unit also has headlights which are getting scarce, another nice feature. You do get attachments included with this vacuum. This vacuum has an important capability in that the power unit with canister lifts off the base. Now you can clean drapes or furniture or reach up to cobwebs in the ceiling very easily. It includes a small brush to put on the end of the hose or a nozzle for tight areas – and here’s a nice first, the nozzle has an LED light and when you attach it, the LED is switched on and now you can see in those dark corners. There is also an attachment that is a little turbo brush that when you have the power unit lifted off, you can attach and it does a super great job on sofa cushions since the brush now spins to add that factor to the vacuum power. I’m kind of a vacuum nut and I have several – this one is the best. I was impressed with the quality of this unit and Bissel was not kidding when they called it the Pet Hair Eraser. It’s now my go to vacuum for all types of cleaning.

I have three dogs, and although they aren’t long haired dogs they shed more than I’d like to admit. This beauty and Bissell of course are doing really well in my home. My little Frenchie enjoys the game of chasing the new vacuum so now that I am walking around the house with the extension wand and absorbing all the corner spider webs and junk he likes to follow and just yelp. It’s a game we are enjoying currently! I’ve had two Bissell machines in the past and they are really awesome so it was an easy decision to add the 2-in-1 to the bunch. Having 22 foot ceilings and stairs often creates a issue with getting to the fans, chandeliers and just hard to reach corners which helped when being able to take the tank and detach it to make it mobile. The hardest part for me was installing the Febreeze air filter because the screw that is used to latch it in and out needs more than some force to get it out and switch. Otherwise, setup was easy, easy of use was nice, it projects itself really well on our huge 15 foot by 10 foot area rug and the dial to choose and adjust floor types is neat! Within about 30 minutes I had all our common areas, stairs and nooks and crannies cleaned up with time to spare before bed. A great addition to any household for sure but a perfect one for our pet family! To top it off, Bissell donates $10 through the Bissell Pet Foundation for getting this vacuum so I am easily a big fan. Two thumbs up here!

    This vacuum really sucks

Well, in most cases, saying something sucks is generally not a good thing... With one rare exception. I can't say as I've written much in the way of reviews about vacuums, but there are a few things worth noting about this one that make it stand out over most other vacuums. First, and probably foremost, for people that own vacuums is the suction. This vacuum does very well in picking up everything I've attempted to clean up with it, even having gone back over other areas my older vacuum had just cleaned, it still managed to pull up more. This says great things about the quality of the vacuum in that it leaves my floors even cleaner than my previous vacuum. Second is the snagless brush... As many people are familiar with, especially if you have family members with long hair, or in the case of this vacuum, pets with long hair, it can wrap around the brush forcing you to have to disassemble the vacuum to cut or pull the hair off of it. So far I've vacuumed a few times and have yet to see any hair wrapping the brush... This is a huge benefit to me as I have multiple family members with long hair and I really dislike having to clean the vacuum a few times a year. The last thing i'd like to cover is the lift-off functionality. While it seems to be potentially hit or miss depending on the person, I find this to be a very useful capability, especially when trying to get cobwebs on the ceiling, vacuum a couch, or vacuuming stairs. It's lightweight enough to not be annoying and you can take it places where in the past I've found myself either tipping over the main vacuum or just having to use a small handvac (IE: inside the car) that does not have near the suction of a full sized vacuum. The potential for the lift-off is really endless. Overall this is actually a very nice vacuum and I'd have no problems recommending it to others.

Great vacuum for a home like ours that has furry friends... I did receive this product to review and have put it through the wring in our house. To paint the picture we have a Great Pyrenees (the culprit) and a Border Collie whom shed profusely. Our home is carpet and tile and this vacuum make short work of it! We have had several vacuums (lower price ranged) and none have really been up to the task. Out of the box, the assembly is fairly simple with one screw to attach the handle and then put on the hose & accessories. Once powered on it does have nifty little headlights and has multi-angle turning head. I did notice right away that the unit is heavier and louder than I would have expected. However, the breakaway feature makes the weight a moot point. On that note, the handheld aspect is really cool and convenient. The "Pet TurboEraser" accessory is ideal for upholstered furniture (or as we like to call them, the place our buddies sleep). Not sure about the LED wand deal, seem more like a gimmick tool but maybe I just do not understand. There are two filters one that is washable and one that is not. However, this model did come with an additional Febreze filter (non-washable) that when installed either leaves a regular spare or the Febreze one for a future use. I have really enjoyed using this product and feel confident it will help alleviate our cleaning issue and make a clean home for my family weather two-legged or four.

I have only owned Shark vacuums and they have all been great but I was looking forward to trying out a model from another company. I can with full confidence say that this Bissell 2087 is a welcome addition to our home. It was no problem taking out the vacuum from the box and it was a cinch to set up. Vacuum is on the heavier side but my experience has shown me that more weighted vacuums are usually of higher quality, last longer and have superior cleaning power. Included is a Febreeze filter which is great for leaving the house smelling fresh after cleaning. As far as the cleaning itself, it does a solid job of picking up regular dirt from my tile, wood and carpeted surfaces. What really puts this model on top is how it handles pet hair. We have cats at home so their hair is all over the house including under furniture, all over the staircase, kitchen, tight spaces, etc. The Pet Hair Eraser does a wonderful job picking up all their hair without tangling up the brush roll. Emptying the dirt compartment with the pet hair is surprisingly easy. The vacuum also did a great job picking up spilled out litter and food from the mats and floors. The detachable wand has a built in LED light which is a welcome addition since I often turn on the lights to locate the dirt or pet hair better. If there are any gripes to have it is that it can be quite loud when in use and the Febreeze filters are not that cheap. Overall it is a terrific vacuum that is a beast for homes that have furry/hairy pets. As a regular vacuum it is a solid option too but you will not get the most value for your money though.

I am really excited about the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum. I have a pet dog (Husky) that we absolutely adore, but her fur has been a source of frustration when it comes to keeping the house clean. Her fur gets everywhere and it can be difficult to remove carpet. Until today! The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is an amazing vacuum. I was able to clean the entire house, removing hair and lent from the stairs, corners and carpet without a problem. I love the design. It is sturdy and easy to maneuver, and it is light enough to carry while cleaning the stairs or other elevated areas. Easily detach the vacuum from the base with the push of a button. There are several features that I really appreciate about the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. 1. There are LEDs on the front of the unit that really make it easy to see dirt/debris under furniture or in dark areas. 2. The included attachments make it easy to clean multiple surfaces and tight spaces. 3. The surface adjustment allows you to control how the vacuum operates based on the flooring type. You can even enable or disable the bristles rotation with the push of a button. 4. The power cord is very long. I have to average length stair cases (approx. 10 stairs each) in my home. I can plug the cord in upstairs and carry the unit all the way to the bottom without putting tension on the cord. Assembly is easy. Within 5 minutes of opening the box, I was able to start using the vacuum. Just insert the handle, add the attachments, tighten one screw and you're ready to go. I would definitely recommend this vacuum.

I am disappointed in this vacuum. I own the previous version of the Pet Hair Eraser that does not have a lift off canister. I really like that vacuum, but they have made some very poor changes for this year's lift off version. First, the steering is no where near as easy as the previous pet hair eraser. They are both heavy, and the previous version was passable at steering, but this new model is just plain bad at steering. It constantly gets bogged down it carpet and just won't turn. The suction dial is another issue I have with the new vacuum. This model relies on a knob that you use to adjust the suction for different types of floors, rather than a physical height adjustment. The lack of a height adjustment means that even when the suction is adjusted properly, the vacuum still is very hard to push on thicker carpet or rugs. The previous version has a height adjustment and is way easier to use. The lift off function is nice, but could be better. You cannot take the canister off the base and still use the base with the hose attached. On other brands, you can, which makes for easy vacuuming under furniture and hard to reach places. The attachments are good. The turbo pet hair eraser is awesome and I also like the narrow space attachment with a built in flashlight. Overall, I cannot recommend this vacuum, especially given the design issues and the fact that there are better vacuums out there.

The documentation is really good. A printed, illustrated 18 page Quick Start/User Guide that has Assembly Instructions, Safety Instructions, Operations, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Warranty, and Service. The warranty is five years. I have a older (3 or 4) years Hoover Whole House Upright to compare with so I will go through the comparison. Weight: 18 lbs - Same for both. Power cord: 30 ft cord for the Bissell - longer than the Hoover but the Hoover has a take-up reel and you have to wind the cord around the Cord Wrap with the Bissell. Above Floor Cleaning: Only on the Bissell, but I had trouble getting the canister removed from the handle for awhile. The Bissell has a nice lighted Crevice tool that the Hoover does not have. They both have a Pet Turbo tool but it does not store on the Bissell. Operation: Similar, but the Hoover is easier to use, The Bissell is harder to push around and operate, but it does swivel around and the Hoover does not. The Bissell has a Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System that works well - traps pet hair in a ball and empties easily.

There are lots of pros to list for this vacuum cleaner - some are built-in features and some are just how well this meets my expectations. This is my first vacuum with headlights and I gotta say, it's awesome. I am a Dyson user and this Bissell compares favorably, especially in how well it picks up fine dirt, hair, and coarser particles. Both brands feel hefty and of good quality, but this Bissell outperforms the Dysons where it matters. When first unboxed, it looks very fiddly and busy, like there are lots of connections or little parts but that's just because of all the informational tags and stickers. It takes only 1 screw to attach the handle, then place the hose ends and the onboard tools in their storage spots and it's ready to go. There is a Febreeze filter included but I skipped that part for now. Pros: simple to assemble the wheels move well over carpeting versatile - lift-off canister is easy to maneuver off and on lighted crevice tool POWERFUL action on long hair (mine) and short hair (dog and cat) washable filter on/off switch for beater bar swivel is easy to control Cons: it's pretty heavy not sure it's a $300 item (Dysons are overpriced too) but the quality is not overhyped

I started running this around one room and was so impressed by the light weight and excellent pickup that I ended up doing the whole house! I couldn't believe how much dirt this thing picked up off of our "clean" floors! The lift off vacuum makes cleaning things above the floor very easy. The wand is easy to use as well, making cleanup a breeze. In the week or so we have had it, we have used it multiple times to clean or furniture, blinds, drapes and so many other areas our old vacuum just couldn't reach. If I were to get picky, there are two areas I could ask for a little better design... The side auction is not very good, but the easy to use wand makes up for this. The other thing is that there is no place we can find to store the furniture attachment. We have tried hanging out of every pay that sticks out in any way on the machine! Those two things are not enough to drop a star on the reading, the rest of the machine is so easy to use and well designed. We have finally found a vacuum the both of us are happy with for our entire house.

Never thought that I'd say that I love a vacuum, but this thing is awesome. This is replacing another Lift Off and is the 3rd one that I've had. This one is much smaller and quieter than my previous ones. All the attachments fit on it except one and are easy to put on. The telescoping arms comes off easily and lifting it off, which is the best thing about these if you have stairs, is as easy as ever. The cord is long so you can go very far without having to plug in a different socket. One thing that this had that I've never had, is that it swivels at the best. So when you are pushing back and forth you can twist your wrist and it goes left and right. Also, the most important thing is that it works great. It picks up more than my previous vacuum and I like that the bin with the trash comes off completely and you can walk it to the trash and empty it there. My previous one came out open so you could spill it and some dust always popped out when you opened it. Definitely 5 stars and highly recommended.

Good but has major flaws for the price

Its a good vacuum but for the price id would expect these simple flaws would be worked out. First, where the hose connects to the canister. It bends at 90 degrees causeing the hose to pinch due to the hose going up and over the holder. Inturn casues the rings inside the hose to get out of track. Second, again same spot as before. Where the hose attaches to the canister. When you lock in the hose to the housing. It splits open at the bottom causing loss of suction. Overall, its still a pretty good vacuum but not for the price.
